## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Domain Tech & Security Audit

Audit hundreds of domains in one run: DNS, **SPF/DMARC email authentication**, **TLS certificate expiry**, **security-header score**, **CDN/cloud provider** and **server stack**. Each domain returns one clean JSON row that's ready for a spreadsheet, a CRM or an AI agent.

### What you can use it for

- **Sales prospecting for MSPs, security and email-deliverability firms:** find prospects with no DMARC, a weak SPF, missing security headers or certificates about to expire.
- **Vendor and acquisition due diligence:** see a company's hosting, CDN and basic security hygiene at a glance.
- **Certificate and DNS monitoring:** schedule a run and alert on `tls.daysToExpiry < 14`.
- **AI agents:** callable through Apify's MCP server, so an agent can audit domains as part of a research task.

### Input

```json
{ "domains": ["example.com", "https://www.github.com/some/page"], "concurrency": 10, "timeoutSecs": 10 }
```

URLs are reduced to their hostname. Duplicates and invalid entries are skipped and aren't billed.

### Output (one item per domain)

```json
{
  "domain": "www.github.com",
  "resolves": true,
  "dns": { "a": ["140.82.112.4"], "aaaa": [], "mx": [], "ns": ["dns1.p08.nsone.net"] },
  "email": {
    "spf": { "present": true, "policy": "~all", "strict": true },
    "dmarc": { "present": true, "policy": "quarantine", "enforced": true },
    "hasMx": false
  },
  "tls": { "valid": true, "issuer": "Sectigo Limited", "expiresAt": "2026-11-29T23:59:59.000Z", "daysToExpiry": 49, "protocol": "TLSv1.3" },
  "http": { "status": 200, "finalUrl": "https://github.com/", "error": null },
  "securityHeaders": { "present": ["strict-transport-security", "content-security-policy", "x-frame-options", "x-content-type-options", "referrer-policy"], "missing": ["permissions-policy"], "score": 83 },
  "providers": ["GitHub"],
  "stack": ["server: github.com"],
  "checkedAt": "2026-10-11T18:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$2 per 1,000 domains audited**. Platform usage is included, so you pay nothing per run and nothing for domains that are skipped.

### How it works and its limits

- Uses live DNS, a TLS handshake on port 443 and one HTTPS request per domain. No third-party data providers, and nothing is crawled beyond the homepage response.
- Provider and stack detection is a heuristic based on response headers and nameservers. A site behind a CDN shows the CDN, not the origin host.
- If a subdomain has no DMARC record, the check falls back to the parent domain (organizational domain = last two labels).
- Expired or invalid certificates are reported (`tls.valid: false`, `http.error`) rather than skipped.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs to audit, e.g. example.com or https://example.com/page. Duplicates and invalid entries are skipped.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many domains to audit in parallel.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Timeout for the TLS and HTTPS checks on each domain.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "apify.com",
    "example.com"
  ],
  "concurrency": 10,
  "timeoutSecs": 10
}
```

## `results` (type: `string`):

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "domains": [
        "apify.com",
        "example.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("dougnukem/domain-tech-security-audit").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
