## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Hongguo Drama Rankings API

Get normalized Hongguo overall-hot and comic-drama ranking data. Complex ranking cards are flattened into one Dataset row per title with reusable IDs, rank context, and popularity metadata. Users do not need a Hongguo API key.

### Supported rankings

| `rankType` | Ranking |
| --- | --- |
| `totalHot` | Overall hot ranking |
| `comicHot` | Comic-drama hot ranking |
| `comicPlay` | Comic-drama play ranking |
| `comicNew` | New comic-drama ranking |

### Input

```json
{
  "rankType": "totalHot",
  "page": 1
}
```

Each run fetches one ranking page. Increase `page` to continue through the upstream ranking session.

### Call with curl

```bash
curl -L "https://api.apify.com/v2/actors/dramadatalab~hongguo-drama-rankings/run-sync-get-dataset-items?timeout=120" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"rankType":"totalHot","page":1}'
```

### Call with JavaScript

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('dramadatalab/hongguo-drama-rankings').call({
    rankType: 'totalHot',
    page: 1,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

### Call with Python

```python
import os
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient(os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"])
run = client.actor("dramadatalab/hongguo-drama-rankings").call(run_input={
    "rankType": "totalHot",
    "page": 1,
})
items = list(client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items())
print(items)
```

### Example result

```json
{
  "status": "success",
  "bookId": "7651964941498338328",
  "title": "Example ranked title",
  "cover": "https://example.invalid/cover.jpg",
  "rankType": "totalHot",
  "rank": 1,
  "hotValue": 9988.5,
  "page": 1,
  "traceId": "request-trace-id"
}
```

If the upstream response omits an explicit rank number, the Actor assigns the title's stable one-based position in its ranking list.

### Pricing

| Event | Price | Charged when |
| --- | ---: | --- |
| Actor start | `$0.00005` | Once per run at up to 1 GB memory |
| Successful metadata query | `$0.002` | Once when one or more valid ranked titles are returned |

A typical successful run costs **$0.00205**. Empty pages and failed queries do not trigger the metadata event. Platform usage is included.
