## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## ImportYeti Scraper

Turn ImportYeti company, supplier, HS-code, and location pages into structured US import data: recent bills of lading, target summaries, top-partner league tables, and port-to-port trade lanes — in one Actor run and one Dataset.

### Features

- **Four target types** — US importers, foreign suppliers, HS codes (`84` / `8471` / `847130`), and country/location directories
- **Rich embedded payload** — reads the page’s full data blob (not just the visible HTML table), including counterparty addresses, routes, and estimated freight cost
- **Four record types** — `bill_of_lading`, `summary`, `top_partner`, `trade_lane` (toggle each independently)
- **Resume support** — when `maxItems` stops a run early, a `resumeCursor` is written to run OUTPUT so you can continue without re-processing finished targets
- **Public pages only** — up to ~50 most-recent shipments per target (site public cap); no login or premium unlock

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `companies` | array | `[]` | Importer slugs or URLs (`apple`, `/company/walmart`, full URL) |
| `suppliers` | array | `[]` | Supplier slugs or URLs |
| `hsCodes` | array | `[]` | 2/4/6-digit codes or `/hs-codes/...` URLs |
| `locations` | array | `[]` | Country slugs (`china`) or full `/location/...` URLs |
| `locationType` | string | `supplier` | Directory type for bare country slugs |
| `startUrls` | array | `[]` | Any importyeti.com URL (auto-classified) |
| `includeBols` | boolean | `true` | Emit shipment rows |
| `includeSummary` | boolean | `true` | Emit one summary per target |
| `includeTopPartners` | boolean | `false` | Emit partner league-table rows |
| `includeTradeLanes` | boolean | `false` | Emit port-pair lanes |
| `maxItems` | integer | `1000` | Cap across all record types |
| `resumeCursor` | string | — | Cursor from a previous OUTPUT |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | — | **Residential US recommended** |

#### Example

```json
{
  "companies": ["apple"],
  "includeBols": true,
  "includeSummary": true,
  "includeTopPartners": true,
  "maxItems": 60,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"],
    "apifyProxyCountry": "US"
  }
}
```

### Output

Every row shares `recordType`, `targetType`, `targetSlug`, `targetUrl`, `targetName`, `sourceUrl`, `scrapedAt`.

#### `bill_of_lading`

Arrival date, house/master BOL, carrier SCAC, counterparty name + address, weight, quantity, containers, product description, shipping route, estimated freight cost.

#### `summary`

Total shipments, most-recent date, website, address, UFLPA flag, trademarks count, top carriers, bill-type mix, and page counts.

#### `top_partner`

Partner name/address/country, volumes (shipments, weight, TEU), HS codes, and top counterparties.

#### `trade_lane`

Exit/entry ports, region, shipments, weight, TEU, estimated shipping cost.

### Notes

- ImportYeti rate-limits and blocks many datacenter IPs. Prefer residential US proxies for production.
- Emails and masked phone numbers behind the site’s paid tier are not included.
- This Actor is independent and not affiliated with ImportYeti.

### Use cases

- Supplier discovery and sourcing maps
- Competitor import / freight-lane analysis
- HS-code and tariff exposure research
- Lead lists of active US importers by product or origin country
