## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper: Interest Over Time, by Region & Related Queries

Get **Google Trends data** for any keyword without blocks, captchas or proxies: **interest over time**, **interest by region**, **top and rising related queries** and **related topics**. Or compare up to 5 terms on the same 0-100 scale, like the comparison view in Google Trends. Works for **92 countries or worldwide**, from the past hour to all time since 2004, for web search, YouTube, news, images and Google Shopping. **$6 per 1,000 search terms** with the full report.

### Why this Google Trends scraper

- **No 429 errors or blocked runs:** the data comes from a professional Google Trends data provider instead of scraping from shared IPs, so large lists finish reliably.
- **Everything in one row:** each search term returns its timeline, regions and related searches together, plus ready-made metrics (average, latest, peak and trend change).
- **Compare mode:** up to 5 terms per group on the same scale, one row per term, so you can rank keywords, brands or products against each other.
- **Pay only for results:** terms without enough search interest are skipped and not charged.

### Use cases

- Find **seasonality** and the best months to publish, stock or advertise.
- Spot **rising searches** and trending topics before competitors.
- Compare **brands, products or keywords** by popularity and by region.
- Feed trend data into **SEO, content and market research** pipelines, dashboards or AI agents.

### Input

- **Search terms:** keywords or topics, one per line (up to 1,000 per run).
- **What do you want to get:** a full report for each term, or comparison groups of up to 5 terms.
- **Country:** 92 countries or Worldwide.
- **Time range:** past hour, 4 hours, day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 12 months, 5 years or all time; or custom start and end dates.
- **Google property:** web search, news, YouTube, images or Google Shopping.
- **Category ID** (optional), **interest by region** and **related queries and topics** (on by default).

### Output example

Real output for "matcha" in the United States, past 12 months (lists shortened):

```json
{
    "searchTerm": "matcha",
    "country": "US",
    "countryName": "United States",
    "searchType": "web",
    "timeRange": "past_12_months",
    "comparedWith": null,
    "startDate": "2025-10-19",
    "endDate": "2026-10-24",
    "averageInterest": 75.9,
    "latestInterest": 63,
    "peakInterest": 100,
    "peakDate": "2026-04-12",
    "trendChangePercent": -11.2,
    "interestOverTime": [{ "date": "2025-10-19", "endDate": "2025-10-25", "value": 54, "isPartial": false }],
    "interestByRegion": [{ "region": "Hawaii", "regionCode": "US-HI", "value": 100 }],
    "topRelatedQueries": [{ "query": "matcha latte", "value": 100 }, { "query": "matcha tea", "value": 89 }],
    "risingRelatedQueries": [{ "query": "grind rail", "value": 25600 }],
    "topRelatedTopics": [{ "topic": "Matcha", "type": "Tea", "topicId": "/m/06c60c", "value": 100 }],
    "risingRelatedTopics": [{ "topic": "Nami Matcha", "type": "Topic", "topicId": "/g/11zjbh30bj", "value": 49600 }],
    "googleTrendsUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en&geo=US&date=today%2012-m&q=matcha"
}
```

- **Interest values** go from 0 to 100, relative to the highest point in the period (and, in compare mode, across all terms of the group).
- **Rising values** are the percentage growth of a related search or topic. Google shows growth above 5,000% as "Breakout".
- **trendChangePercent** compares the average interest of the last 4 data points with the 4 before. **isPartial** marks a period that is not over yet.

### How much does it cost?

| Event | Price (free plan) |
|---|---|
| Run start | $0.005 |
| Full report for one search term | $0.006 |
| One search term in a comparison group | $0.004 |

Paid Apify plans get lower prices automatically. Examples on the free plan:

- Full report for 100 keywords: **$0.61**
- 50 keywords compared in 10 groups of 5: **$0.21**

Set **Maximum cost per run** to cap spending. The run never requests more terms than your limit covers.

### FAQ

**Is this the same data as the Google Trends website?** Yes. Values are the normalized 0-100 interest index that Google Trends shows, and each row includes the matching Google Trends link so you can check it.

**How long does a run take?** Usually 1 to 3 minutes for any list size, because terms are processed in parallel.

**Why was a search term skipped?** Google Trends only shows data for terms with enough search volume in the selected country and period. Try a broader term, a longer time range or Worldwide. Skipped terms are not charged.

**Can I use it from code or AI agents?** Yes. Call it from the Apify API, Make, Zapier, n8n or the Apify MCP server, and schedule it to track trends over time.
