## Changelog

### Unreleased (2026-10-08)

- The agent string is now `edge-sitemap-url-extractor/0.2` (was `sitemap-url-extractor/0.1 (Apify Actor)`), a neutral name some sites accept where they refused the old one. robots.txt groups for `edge-sitemap-url-extractor` apply to it. The README says how a site owner can block it.
- An HTTP 403 now reads `HTTP 403: the site refused this tool's request` in the `errors` of the site summary. The status stays `blocked` and the agent string is unchanged. The README has a section on sites that refuse automated agents.
- When `maxUrls` is reached, every site that was not read gets a `site_summary` with the new status `skipped` and `stopped_reason` `maxUrls reached`, and the run summary carries the same `stopped_reason`. Before, such sites left no record.
- README: `stopped_reason` and its values are described, next to what `truncated` means (a file that ends early, not the limit).
- README: the default limit of 1,000 URL records is named in the first lines with how to raise it, a real sample from a run on 2026-10-08 stands next to the synthetic one, and the first lines say in plain words what happens with a file that ends early.

### 0.1 (2026-10-07)

- First version: discovery through robots.txt and the usual addresses, nested index files with loop protection, XML, text, RSS and Atom sitemaps, gzip, cut-file recovery, filters, delta mode, one summary record per site.
