## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Review Radar

Your Google reviews vs your 3 closest competitors, found for you: gaps, themes and draft replies to unanswered reviews.

#### Who it's for

Owners and marketing leads of restaurants, clinics and local service businesses who want a monthly answer to "how do our Google reviews compare with the businesses we compete with, and what do we reply to the reviews we have not answered?"

#### What you get

One report for your business and up to three competitors, all measured the same way over the last 30 to 90 days (default 90):

- **Competitors found for you**: name none and the Actor finds the three closest open places in your Google category with at least 20 reviews (within 2 km, or 6 km when that finds too few), with their distance, rating and review count. Or name the competitors you want yourself.
- **Comparison table**: reviews in the window, average rating, share of 1-2 star reviews, reply rate and unanswered count per business, with the all-time rating shown separately.
- **Gaps**: your position on each measure against the competitors' median, in plain words, for example "reply rate 31% vs competitors' median 74%". Computed from the numbers, not guessed.
- **Themes**: what customers praise and complain about per business, each with the number of reviews that mention it and which reviews they are.
- **Reply queue**: up to ten of your unanswered reviews, complaints first and then oldest first, each with a drafted reply that refers to something specific in that review. Drafts differ from each other and never promise money, give contact details or admit legal fault.
- **Trend**: pass last month's snapshot to see what moved. Nothing is stored on our side.

Reviewers are never named or returned; excerpts are short and stripped of links and contact details.

#### Example

Ask your assistant: "Compare our Google reviews with our three closest competitors over the last 3 months and draft replies to the reviews we have not answered", and give your Google place id (it starts with ChIJ). The competitors are found for you; give their place ids only to choose them yourself. A free check tool validates the ids first.

#### Limits

Competitors found for you come from a Google Maps search for your own category around your address; a competitor listed under another Google category or more than 6 km away is not found, so name it yourself. Reads the newest 150 reviews per business; a business that reaches this is marked "at least". Your own business needs at least five reviews in the window, otherwise nothing is charged. A competitor that cannot be read or has too few reviews is listed and not billed. Reviews without text get no draft. Themes are named by a model and counted in code; read the drafts before you post them.

### How to use

- **Run it** in Apify Console or through the API: choose what to do, fill in the fields for that tool and start. The result is one item in the run's dataset.
- **From an AI assistant** through Apify's MCP server (mcp.apify.com), which finds and runs this Actor with the same fields. What each choice does:
  - `check_places`: Validate the place ids of your business and up to three competitors for a review report without reading any reviews and without charging anything.
  - `review_report`: Compare the Google reviews of your business with up to three competitors over the last 30-90 days (default 90) and draft replies for your unanswered reviews.

### Pricing

- Google review comparison report: $0.59
- Business analysed: $0.59

Failed calls are never charged.
