## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Pinterest Search Scraper

Pinterest pin search as clean JSON. Give it one or more search terms and get every pin Pinterest ranks for them: title, description, full-size image, destination link, the pinner and the board. It calls the same JSON endpoint the Pinterest website uses, with no browser and no login, so it is fast and cheap to run.

### What you get

One record per pin, in the order Pinterest ranks them for the term. Pins are not repeated within a search term.

- **Content:** `title`, `description`, `altText`, `keywords` (Pinterest's own topic labels for the pin), `createdAt`.
- **Image:** `imageUrl` (original size), `imageWidth`, `imageHeight`, `dominantColor`.
- **Destination:** `link` and `domain` of the site the pin points to (`null` for pins uploaded straight to Pinterest).
- **Who:** `pinner` (username, full name, followers, profile URL) and `board` (name, pin count, URL).
- **Signals:** `reactions` (total reactions), `isVideo`, `isPromoted`, and `position` in the results.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `queries` | string\[] | Search terms. Each is paged on its own. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Maximum pins per search term (1 to 1000). Default 100. |

Example:

```json
{
    "queries": ["kitchen ideas", "easy chicken recipe"],
    "maxItems": 100
}
```

### Output

Real item from a run with the input above (lists and text shortened here):

```json
{
  "id": "68750455917",
  "url": "https://www.pinterest.com/pin/68750455917/",
  "query": "easy chicken recipe",
  "position": 11,
  "title": "One Pan Cheesy Chicken And Rice Meal Prep Idea",
  "description": "If you're looking for a quick and satisfying dinner idea, ...",
  "imageUrl": "https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ac/2d/11/ac2d11c6152746823afd17710dd3a903.png",
  "imageWidth": 1000,
  "imageHeight": 2000,
  "dominantColor": "#c29a5a",
  "createdAt": "Tue, 29 Sep 2026 21:18:37 +0000",
  "link": "https://wetherspoonsmenu.co.uk/easy-cheesy-chicken-and-rice-recipe/",
  "domain": "wetherspoonsmenu.co.uk",
  "isPromoted": false,
  "isVideo": false,
  "reactions": 23,
  "keywords": ["Meals For Weeknights", "Good Dinners For Kids", "Chicken An Rice Recipes"],
  "pinner": { "id": "...", "username": "...", "fullName": "...", "followers": 14, "url": "https://www.pinterest.com/.../" },
  "board": { "id": "...", "name": "...", "pinCount": 120, "url": "https://www.pinterest.com/.../..." }
}
```

### Notes

- Only the pins visible to a logged-out visitor are collected. Private boards and anything behind a login are out of reach.
- Pinterest serves roughly 1,000 pins per search term (measured: 995, 834 and 981 pins for three common terms). The actor stops when Pinterest stops returning results and returns what it got.
- You pay per pin returned. If Pinterest blocks a request, the actor retries on a fresh IP and, from the third attempt, through a residential proxy.
- Pinterest does not show save counts in search results, so they are not included.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **USD 0.002 per pin** (USD 2 per 1,000 pins). The default input (one search term, up to 100 pins) costs about USD 0.20. Lower `maxItems` for a cheaper test run. Apify platform usage is included in the price.

### Use cases

- Trend and content research: see which pins Pinterest ranks for a niche or a product.
- Affiliate and e-commerce research: which domains and boards get the most reactions for a term.
- Image datasets: original-size image URLs with titles and topic labels.
- Competitor monitoring: schedule the actor and track how rankings change over time.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Pinterest account or a proxy?** No. You only provide search terms.

**How many pins per term?** Pinterest returns around 1,000 pins per search term, so `maxItems` is capped at 1,000.

**Are saves included?** No. Pinterest does not show saves in search results; `reactions` is the engagement count it does show.

**Can I call it from my own code?** Yes, through the Apify API or the Python and JavaScript clients, and with integrations such as Make, Zapier or n8n.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

What to search for on Pinterest, for example 'kitchen ideas'. Each term is paged on its own.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of pins to return for each search term. Pinterest serves roughly 1,000 pins per search term, so higher values return what exists.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "kitchen ideas"
  ],
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):
