## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Domain & Company Enrichment Tool

Turn a list of domain names into rich company profiles. Get page titles, descriptions, social media links, technology stack, email provider, and DNS records — all from a simple domain input. No API keys required.

***

### What It Does

For each domain you provide, this actor:

1. Fetches the website over HTTPS with redirect following
2. Extracts page title, meta description, and Open Graph tags
3. Detects technologies from HTTP response headers (CDN, cloud provider, CMS, framework)
4. Scans the page for social media profile links (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, GitHub, Instagram, YouTube)
5. Looks up MX DNS records and identifies the email provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, etc.)

***

### Input Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `domains` | string (textarea) | — | One domain per line (stripe.com, github.com). URLs also accepted |
| `include_social` | boolean | `true` | Scan for social media profile links |
| `include_dns` | boolean | `true` | Look up MX records and detect email provider |

#### Example Input

```json
{
  "domains": "stripe.com\ngithub.com\nshopify.com\nnotion.so",
  "include_social": true,
  "include_dns": true
}
```

***

### Output Format

```json
{
  "domain": "stripe.com",
  "url": "https://stripe.com",
  "status": 200,
  "title": "Stripe | Financial Infrastructure for the Internet",
  "description": "Stripe powers online and in-person payment processing...",
  "og_title": "Stripe",
  "og_description": "...",
  "og_image": "https://stripe.com/img/v3/social.png",
  "og_type": "website",
  "language": "en",
  "technologies": ["CDN: Cloudflare", "Cloud: AWS"],
  "social_links": ["https://twitter.com/stripe", "https://linkedin.com/company/stripe"],
  "mx_records": ["10 aspmx.l.google.com."],
  "email_provider": "Google Workspace",
  "redirect_url": null,
  "error": null
}
```

### Use Cases

#### B2B Sales Prospecting

Enrich your lead list with company descriptions, tech stack, and email providers. Know which companies use Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 before your outreach.

#### Competitive Intelligence

Compare competitor websites — what technologies they use, which social platforms they're active on, and how they position themselves.

#### Lead Qualification

Quickly assess whether a company is a good fit based on their tech stack, size signals from their infrastructure, and online presence.

#### Market Research

Analyze hundreds of companies in a vertical to understand technology adoption patterns, common infrastructure choices, and social media strategies.

#### Data Enrichment Pipelines

Feed domain lists from CRMs, spreadsheets, or other scrapers to add metadata for segmentation, scoring, or reporting.

### Performance

- **Concurrency**: 5 parallel requests (polite default)
- **Timeout**: 15 seconds per domain
- **Speed**: ~50 domains per minute in base mode
- **DNS lookups**: Use system `dig` command, non-blocking
- **No API keys required** — all data from public sources

***

### Technical Details

- **Language**: Python 3.12
- **HTTP client**: httpx (async, with redirect following)
- **Apify SDK**: apify >= 2.0.0
- **Docker base image**: apify/actor-python:3.12

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "domains": `stripe.com
github.com
shopify.com`
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("emperor1978/domain-enrichment").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
