## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC Filings to Markdown for AI Agents

Give a ticker or a CIK and get the company's latest 10-K, 10-Q or 8-K filings from SEC EDGAR as clean markdown, split by Item, with the key XBRL figures for the period: one item per filing, ready for AI agents that read annual reports, quarterly results and current events, for research agents, analysts' tools and RAG over filings.

- Data comes only from the SEC's own free EDGAR APIs (company list, submissions, XBRL company facts) and the filing's main document in the EDGAR archives.
- Sections are the Items of the filing: Business, Risk Factors (1A), MD\&A (7), Financial Statements (8), or the numbered Items of an 8-K such as 2.02 Results of Operations.
- Key figures: revenue, gross profit, operating income, net income, EPS, total assets and liabilities, equity, cash, long-term debt and operating cash flow, each with its unit, concept and dates.
- Charged per filing delivered; companies that are not found and filings that cannot be read are free.

### What you get

```json
{
  "ticker": "AAPL",
  "cik": "0000320193",
  "companyName": "Apple Inc.",
  "form": "10-K",
  "accessionNumber": "0000320193-24-000123",
  "filingDate": "2024-11-01",
  "reportDate": "2024-09-28",
  "items": [],
  "documentUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000032019324000123/aapl-20240928.htm",
  "filingUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000032019324000123/",
  "sections": [
    {"part": "I", "item": "1A", "title": "Risk Factors", "markdown": "The Company's business, reputation, results of operations..."}
  ],
  "financials": {
    "revenue": {"value": 391035000000, "unit": "USD", "concept": "RevenueFromContractWithCustomerExcludingAssessedTax", "start": "2023-10-01", "end": "2024-09-28"},
    "netIncome": {"value": 93736000000, "unit": "USD", "concept": "NetIncomeLoss", "start": "2023-10-01", "end": "2024-09-28"}
  },
  "financialsError": null,
  "truncated": false,
  "source": "U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, EDGAR (public information)"
}
```

- A missing field is `null`. `items` lists the Items an 8-K reports and is empty for the other forms.
- Text before the first Item (the cover page, and the body of filings that do not head their Items) comes as a section without an Item, so nothing is lost.
- Tables become markdown tables without the spacer columns of the original HTML; the hidden XBRL header is left out.
- If the SEC's figures cannot be read, the filing is still delivered and `financialsError` says why.
- A company or filing that could not be delivered has `input` and `error`, with the reason, and is not charged.
- If nothing is delivered, the run still ends as succeeded: each company or filing that failed is in the dataset with its `error`, the status message gives the first reason, and nothing was charged.
- Exhibits (such as the press release attached to an 8-K) are not included; `filingUrl` links to the whole filing.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `companies` | From 1 to 10 tickers or CIK numbers. |
| `forms` | Which forms to read: `10-K`, `10-Q`, `8-K`. |
| `maxFilings` | From 1 to 20 (default 3): how many filings per form and company, newest first. |
| `includeAmendments` | Also read amendments (10-K/A and the like). |
| `sections` | Keep only these Items, such as `1A` or `7`; up to 30. |
| `financials` | Add the key XBRL figures (on by default). |
| `fromDate` | Only filings on or after this date, `YYYY-MM-DD`. |

### Limits

- Filing documents up to 20 MB, and each request to the SEC waits up to 20 s.
- 2 filings at a time. Requests follow the SEC's fair access rules: a declared User-Agent and a low request rate shared by every run.
- Set a maximum charge per run to cap spending: the run stops before a filing that would pass it.

### Pricing

This actor bills one event, nothing else:

- `filing`: one per filing delivered.

Companies that are not found, filings that cannot be read and filings with none of the Items you asked for are not charged.

### What it does not do

It does not give investment advice, and it does not include exhibits or filings other than 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K. It has no affiliation with the SEC.

### Terms and privacy

SEC Filings to Markdown for AI Agents is operated by Emttn LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or the companies whose filings it returns. Filings are public information from the SEC; the markdown, sections and figures are an automatic conversion that can contain mistakes, so the original filing is the source of record. Nothing here is investment advice. Filings can name a company's directors, officers and signers, public information the SEC publishes. Terms: https://frameskim.dev/terms. Privacy: https://frameskim.dev/privacy. Questions: support@frameskim.dev.

Which filings to read: 10-K (annual report), 10-Q (quarterly report), 8-K (current report).

## `maxFilings` (type: `integer`):
