## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEEK Jobs Scraper (Australia & New Zealand)

This Actor exports job listings from [SEEK](https://www.seek.com.au), the largest job board in Australia and New Zealand. Each job includes the **full job description**, with **salaries parsed into numbers**.

Turn on **Only new jobs** and run it on a schedule to get a daily feed of fresh listings. There's no login and no browser, so runs are fast: about 20 jobs with descriptions in 4 seconds.

It's used for:

- job alerts and job boards
- salary benchmarking
- recruitment lead generation, by finding who is hiring for what and where
- labour-market research and dashboards

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `title` | Junior Data Analyst |
| `company` | RDA Research |
| `location`, `country` | Sydney NSW, AU |
| `classification`, `subClassification` | Science & Technology / Mathematics, Statistics & Information Sciences |
| `workTypes` | \["Full time"] |
| `workArrangement` | On-site / Hybrid / Remote |
| `salaryLabel` | $87,790 - $112,607 per annum (pro rata) |
| `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryPeriod`, `salaryCurrency` | 87790, 112607, year, AUD |
| `listedAt`, `expiresAt` | 2026-09-24T03:36:05Z |
| `descriptionText`, `descriptionHtml` | Full ad text |
| `teaser`, `bulletPoints` | The ad's summary and selling points |
| `url`, `id`, `advertiserId`, `companyProfileUrl`, `logoUrl`, `isFeatured` | |

`salaryMin` and `salaryMax` are parsed from the advertiser's free-text label. That covers hourly, daily and annual pay, "k" amounts, and labels like "+ super". When there's no usable number, they're `null`.

### How to use it

1. Add one or more **search terms**, for example `registered nurse` or `data analyst`. You can also paste SEEK search URLs; any filters in the URL are kept.
2. Pick **Australia** or **New Zealand** and, optionally, a **location** such as `All Sydney NSW`, `Melbourne VIC` or `Auckland`.
3. Optionally filter by work type, remote/hybrid/on-site, and **posted within** 1, 3, 7, 14 or 31 days.
4. Run it, then download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull them through the API.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["data analyst", "business analyst"],
  "country": "AU",
  "location": "All Sydney NSW",
  "postedWithinDays": 7,
  "workArrangements": ["hybrid", "remote"],
  "maxJobsPerSearch": 200,
  "includeDescription": true
}
```

#### Daily alerts: "Only new jobs"

Turn on **Only new jobs** and schedule the Actor (Schedules > Create, for example daily at 7am). Each run returns only jobs this Actor hasn't returned before for the same searches, so you **only pay for new listings**.

Connect the schedule to Slack, email, Google Sheets or a webhook through Apify integrations to get the alert itself.

#### More than 500 results

SEEK's own site and API stop at 500 results per search. Set **Max jobs per search** above 500, or set it to 0 for everything, and the Actor splits the search automatically: by job category first, then by work type, then (in Australia) by state. Duplicates are removed.

When it splits, it collects results category by category rather than strictly newest first.

### Pricing

**$2.00 per 1,000 jobs** ($0.002 per job), with full descriptions and parsed salaries included at no extra cost. There's no charge to start a run and no proxy cost. Apify's free plan credit covers about 2,500 jobs a month.

You can set a maximum cost per run. The Actor stops cleanly when it reaches that limit and keeps everything collected so far.

### FAQ

**Is scraping SEEK legal?**
This Actor collects only publicly visible job ads. It doesn't log in and doesn't collect candidate or personal data. You're responsible for using the data in line with SEEK's terms and the privacy law that applies to you.

**Why is a salary field empty?**
Many advertisers don't publish a salary. `salaryLabel` always shows exactly what the ad says.

**Can I scrape a single job URL?**
Not yet. Open an issue if you need it, because requests shape the roadmap.

**Something broke?**
Open an issue on the Issues tab. Fixes usually ship within a few days.

### Changelog

- **0.1** (Oct 2026): first release. Covers AU and NZ, full descriptions, parsed salaries, only-new-jobs mode, and automatic splitting past 500 results.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Job titles or keywords, one search each, e.g. "data analyst" or "registered nurse". Leave empty to list all jobs in the location.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Which SEEK site to search.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Where to search, as you'd type it on SEEK: "Sydney NSW", "All Melbourne VIC", "Auckland". Leave empty for the whole country.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional: paste search-result URLs from seek.com.au or seek.co.nz (filters in the URL are kept). Used in addition to search terms.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only jobs listed in the last N days. SEEK supports 1, 3, 7, 14 and 31; other values round up.

## `workTypes` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all.

## `workArrangements` (type: `array`):

On-site, hybrid or remote. Leave empty for all.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Newest first returns the latest listings first, which works best with "Only new jobs". Most relevant uses SEEK's keyword ranking.

## `maxJobsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Stop each search after this many jobs. SEEK shows at most 500 per search; above that the scraper splits the search by category, work type and state to get the rest. 0 = no limit.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the full ad text (HTML and plain text) and expiry date to every job. Same price either way.

## `onlyNewJobs` (type: `boolean`):

Skip jobs this scraper already returned for the same searches in earlier runs. Schedule the Actor daily to get a feed of new listings only. You're only charged for new jobs.

## `trackingKey` (type: `string`):

Name for the 'already seen' list used by Only new jobs. Runs with the same key share it. By default it's derived from your searches.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed normally. Turn on if SEEK starts rate-limiting your runs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": [
    "data analyst"
  ],
  "country": "AU",
  "location": "All Sydney NSW",
  "sortBy": "ListedDate",
  "maxJobsPerSearch": 20,
  "includeDescription": true,
  "onlyNewJobs": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

One record per SEEK job listing: title, company, location, parsed salary, work type and arrangement, listing date and (optionally) the full description.
