## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Local Business Leads: Phone, Website & Rating by Place

Get a list of local businesses for any category and place, straight from a business database. No scraping, no waiting for a browser, no blocked runs.

- **Who:** name, category, phone, website (tracking parameters removed), address, city, region, ZIP, country, coordinates
- **How good:** star rating, number of reviews, whether the owner has claimed the listing, price level, photo count
- **Where:** a Google Maps link and place id for every business
- **Filters:** minimum rating, minimum reviews, phone required, website required, claimed listings only. Rows that fail a filter are never fetched or charged
- **Scale:** up to 20,000 leads per run, up to 10 categories at once

Use it to build prospect lists for agencies and freelancers (web design, SEO, reviews management), to find suppliers and partners, to map competitors, or to feed a CRM.

### Input

| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| **Business categories** | One per line, up to 10: `plumber`, `dentist`, `hair salon`, `roofing contractor`. Names with spaces work. A name the database does not know is reported with suggestions |
| **Location** | `Columbus, Ohio, USA` or any city, region or address. Looked up with OpenStreetMap |
| **Search radius** | 1 to 100 km. Empty means "fit the place I typed", capped at 100 km |
| **Latitude / Longitude** | Optional exact centre, instead of a location name |
| **Maximum leads** | Your cap, and your spending limit |
| **Minimum rating / reviews** | Skip weak or brand-new businesses |
| **Phone / website required, claimed only** | Keep only leads with the contact details you need |
| **Order of results** | Most reviews first (default) or highest rating first |

A single run covers one circle. For a state or country, start one run per city.

### Output

One row per business:

| name | category | phone | website | city | rating | reviewCount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eco Plumbers, Electricians, and HVAC Technicians | Plumber | +1614-665-5197 | https://www.geteco.com | Hilliard | 4.9 | 20660 |

Every row also has `otherCategories`, `domain`, `address`, `street`, `region`, `zip`, `country`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `priceLevel`, `claimed`, `totalPhotos`, `googleMapsUrl`, `placeId` and `lastUpdated`. Download as CSV, Excel or JSON, or send it to Google Sheets with the *Google Sheets Import & Export (Reliable)* Actor as an integration.

### Pricing

Pay per lead saved. Set *Maximum leads* or the run's *Maximum cost per run* and the run stops there.

### Good to know

- **Email addresses are not included for most businesses.** The `email` column is filled only when the database lists one. To get emails, pass the `website` column to a website contact extractor.
- **Data is a database snapshot, not a live scrape.** Each row has a `lastUpdated` date. Closed or moved businesses can still appear, so check phone and website before a big campaign.
- **Coverage varies by place.** Large cities and common categories are well covered; a rural area may return few results. If a search finds nothing, try a bigger radius or a related category.
- **Use leads responsibly.** Business contact details are public listings, but cold calling and emailing are regulated in many countries (for example TCPA, GDPR, PECR). You are responsible for how you use the data.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

What kind of business to find, one per line, up to 10. Use Google Maps category names such as plumber, dentist, hair salon, roofing contractor or italian restaurant. Names with spaces are fine. Unknown names are reported with suggestions.

## `location` (type: `string`):

City, region or address to search around, for example Columbus, Ohio, USA or Manchester, UK. Leave empty if you fill in latitude and longitude below.

## `radiusKm` (type: `integer`):

How far from the location to look, between 1 and 100 km. Leave empty to fit the place you typed (a city is searched as a city), up to 100 km.

## `latitude` (type: `string`):

Exact search centre, for example 39.9612. Use together with longitude instead of a location name.

## `longitude` (type: `string`):

Exact search centre, for example -82.9988. Use together with latitude instead of a location name.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many leads. You are charged per lead saved, so this is also your spending limit.

## `minRating` (type: `string`):

Only businesses rated at least this many stars, for example 4 or 4.5. Leave empty for any rating.

## `minReviews` (type: `integer`):

Only businesses with at least this many Google reviews. Use it to skip brand-new or inactive listings. Leave empty for no minimum.

## `requirePhone` (type: `boolean`):

Only return businesses that list a phone number. Almost all do.

## `requireWebsite` (type: `boolean`):

Only return businesses that list a website. Useful for email outreach or website audits.

## `claimedOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only businesses whose Google listing has been claimed by its owner, a sign the business is active.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Which businesses come first when there are more matches than your maximum. Most reviews puts the busiest, best-known businesses first.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Where and what was searched, how many businesses matched in total, how many leads were saved, and whether the run stopped at your cost limit.
