## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## On-Page SEO Audit

Paste a list of URLs and get a score, a letter grade and a fix list for each page. It reads each page the way a search engine does on its first visit (plain HTML, no browser), so it is fast and cheap: audit hundreds of pages for a few dollars.

### What it checks

| Area | Checks |
|---|---|
| Title and description | Missing, too short, too long |
| Headings | Missing or multiple `<h1>`, title identical to `<h1>`, long pages with no `<h2>` |
| Content | Word count, thin pages |
| Images | Missing or empty `alt` |
| Indexing | `noindex`, `nofollow`, missing or off-page canonical |
| Mobile and language | Viewport tag, `lang` attribute, https |
| Social | Open Graph title and image, Twitter card |
| Structured data | JSON-LD (including parse errors) and microdata |
| Links | Internal / external / nofollow counts, empty link text, optional broken link check |
| Response | HTTP status, redirect chains, server response time, HTML size |

Each issue is an **error** (-12 points), **warning** (-5) or **notice** (-1) from a starting score of 100. Grades: A 90+, B 80+, C 65+, D 50+, F below.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Page URLs | One address per line |
| Also audit pages linked from these pages | Crawls same-site links up to the page limit |
| Maximum pages | Caps the run (and the cost). Default 50 |
| Check for broken links | Tests up to 40 links per page. No extra charge |
| Page timeout, Pages at once | Fetch settings |

### Output

One row per page with `score`, `grade`, issue counts, the measured values (title, description, headings, word count, link counts, Open Graph, structured data types) and an `issues` list like:

```json
{ "severity": "error", "code": "h1-missing", "message": "The page has no <h1>." }
```

A `SUMMARY` record holds the pages audited and the average score.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.005 per page audited** (about $5 per 1,000 pages). Pages that fail to load, aren't HTML, or answer with an HTTP error are reported but not charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the Apify Console and the Actor stops when it is reached.

### Limits

- Pages that build their content in the browser with JavaScript are audited as the server sends them. Titles, headings and text injected later are not seen.
- Not a performance test: it reports server response time and HTML size, not Lighthouse scores.
- Sites that block automated requests will answer with an error page.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

The pages to audit, one per line. Addresses without https:// get it added. Each page is fetched once as plain HTML, the way a search engine first sees it.

## `followInternalLinks` (type: `boolean`):

Crawls links that stay on the same site, up to the page limit below, so one start URL can audit a whole small site.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

The most pages to audit in this run, including your start URLs. You are charged per page audited, so this caps the cost.

## `checkBrokenLinks` (type: `boolean`):

Tests up to 40 links per page and lists the ones that answer 404, 410, 5xx or don't respond. Slower, no extra charge.

## `timeoutSeconds` (type: `integer`):

How long to wait for one page before giving up. Pages that fail are not charged.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many pages are fetched in parallel. Keep it low for small sites.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://example.com",
    "https://apify.com"
  ],
  "followInternalLinks": false,
  "maxPages": 50,
  "checkBrokenLinks": false,
  "timeoutSeconds": 20,
  "concurrency": 5
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `pages` (type: `string`):

One row per audited page: score, grade, issue counts and the list of problems.

## `allFields` (type: `string`):

Every page with all measured fields.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Pages audited, failed and the average score.
