## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Yelp Scraper: business leads with phone, website, hours and reviews, past Yelp's 240-result limit

Yelp Scraper exports Yelp businesses to a spreadsheet: name, phone, website, full address, coordinates, opening hours, rating, review count, categories, price, attributes (delivery, reservations, Wi-Fi, …), health score and photos. Search by keyword and location like on Yelp, paste Yelp search URLs, or give it business URLs. Add reviews to every business if you need them.

- **More than 240 results per search.** Yelp never shows more than 240 results for one search. When you ask for more, this scraper splits the city into map tiles and searches each one, then removes duplicates. In our test, "plumbers in Chicago" returned **1,938 businesses instead of 240**, in about 3.5 minutes. Other Yelp scrapers stop at 240 or ask you to split the search by ZIP code by hand.
- **Every column you need for leads.** Phone, website, street, city, state, ZIP and country on every row, in separate columns, plus hours, rating and categories.
- **Filters like on Yelp.** Sort by rating, review count or distance; filter by price, open now, category and features such as delivery, takeout, outdoor seating or good for kids.
- **Reviews in the same run.** Add the newest, lowest-rated or Elite reviews of each business, with owner replies, and the 1★ to 5★ breakdown.
- **New businesses only on repeat runs.** Schedule a search and get only businesses that weren't in earlier runs, for example new restaurants in your city each week.
- **$0.50 per 1,000 businesses, no start fee.** No Yelp account, API key or proxy setup. Export to CSV, Excel, JSON or Google Sheets, or use the API.

### Quick start

1. Click **Try for free** and sign in to Apify. The free plan's monthly credit covers about 10,000 businesses.
2. Enter a **Search term** (`pizza`) and a **Location** (`Brooklyn, NY`).
3. For a first run, keep **Max businesses per search** at `20`.
4. Click **Start**. When the run finishes, open the **Output** tab and export the data.

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["pizza"],
    "locations": ["Brooklyn, NY"],
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 20
}
```

Several terms and locations are combined: two terms in three cities run six searches. Locations can be cities, neighborhoods, ZIP codes or addresses, in any country Yelp covers.

### Ready-to-run examples

#### Every plumber in a city

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["plumbers"],
    "locations": ["Chicago, IL"],
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 0
}
```

`0` means no limit. Businesses outside the location's area are left out once the search goes past 240 results.

#### Cheap restaurants open now that deliver

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["restaurants"],
    "locations": ["Austin, TX"],
    "priceLevels": ["1"],
    "openNow": true,
    "features": ["RestaurantsDelivery"],
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 100
}
```

#### A whole category, sorted by review count

```json
{
    "category": "dentists",
    "locations": ["90210", "Santa Monica, CA"],
    "sortBy": "reviewCount",
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 50
}
```

The category is the `cflt=` value of a Yelp search URL, for example `plumbing`, `pizza`, `hair`, `coffee`, `autorepair` or `dentists`.

#### Yelp search URLs and business URLs

```json
{
    "urls": [
        "https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=sushi&find_loc=San+Francisco%2C+CA&sortby=review_count",
        "https://www.yelp.com/biz/gary-danko-san-francisco"
    ],
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 30
}
```

Search URLs keep their sort (`sortby`) and filters (`attrs`, `cflt`). URLs from any Yelp country site work.

#### Businesses with their worst reviews

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["hotels"],
    "locations": ["Las Vegas, NV"],
    "maxResultsPerSearch": 50,
    "maxReviewsPerBusiness": 5,
    "reviewsSort": "lowest",
    "includeRatingBreakdown": true
}
```

#### New businesses every week

Turn on **Only new businesses**, save the input as a task and schedule it weekly in **Schedules**. The first run returns the current list; later runs return only businesses that weren't there before, and you pay only for those. Connect the task to Google Sheets, Slack or email in **Integrations**.

#### Notes on fields

- `rating` is Yelp's unrounded average (4.2); the stars on the page are rounded.
- `website` is the address the business lists on Yelp. A few businesses have none.
- `openingHours` uses 24-hour times in the business's time zone; a `close` earlier than `open` means after midnight. `isOpenNow` is calculated at scrape time.
- `reviews` appears only when **Reviews per business** is above 0. `ratingCounts` is filled only with **Star rating breakdown** on.
- `searchTerm` and `searchLocation` tell which search found the business; `input` is the URL it came from.
- The Output tab has **Overview**, **Leads** and **Hours and details** views.

### FAQ

#### How many businesses can I get?

Up to 240 from Yelp's normal search, and far more with **Max businesses per search** above 240 or at 0. The scraper then searches the location's area in map tiles until every tile shows fewer than 240 results. A large city and a common term give a few thousand businesses.

#### How fast is it?

About 9 businesses per second with full profiles: 1,938 Chicago plumbers took 3.5 minutes. Reviews and the star breakdown add one or two requests per business.

#### Why are some results outside my city?

For the first 240 results the order and the area are Yelp's own, which includes nearby businesses. Past 240, only businesses inside the location's area are kept. Use a neighborhood or ZIP code for a tighter area.

#### Can I get emails?

No. Yelp doesn't show business emails. The `website` column is the place to find them.

#### Can I get all reviews of a business?

This scraper adds up to 500 reviews per business. For full review histories, every language and monitoring of new reviews, use [Yelp Reviews Scraper](https://apify.com/epicscrapers/yelp-reviews-scraper).

#### Do I need proxies, a Yelp account or an API key?

No. Everything is included in the price.

#### Is it legal to scrape Yelp?

The scraper collects publicly visible business data. Reviewer names on reviews are personal data under laws such as GDPR and CCPA; if you have no lawful basis to process them, turn off **Include reviewer details**. You are responsible for how you use the data, including Yelp's terms.

### Cost

Pay-per-event pricing: you pay only for what is saved, with no subscription and no start fee.

| Event      | Price    | Per 1,000 | Charged when                                                                                                         |
| ---------- | -------- | --------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `business` | $0.0005 | $0.50 | A business is saved with its full profile. Searches, map tiles and businesses already seen in earlier runs are free. |
| `review`   | $0.00025 | $0.25     | A review is added to a business (only with **Reviews per business** above 0).                                        |

Example runs:

| Run                                            | Cost   |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ------ |
| 100 businesses                                 | $0.05  |
| 1,938 plumbers in Chicago                      | $0.97  |
| 50 hotels with 5 reviews each                  | $0.09  |
| Weekly check for new restaurants, ~30 new each | $0.015 |

Set a maximum cost per run and the scraper stops exactly there. The **Pricing** tab always shows the current prices.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

What to search for on Yelp, one per line, e.g. plumbers, pizza, dentist, hair salon. Each term is searched in every location below.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Where to search, one per line: a city (Chicago, IL), neighborhood (Williamsburg, Brooklyn), ZIP code (90210) or address, in any country Yelp covers.

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Optional. Yelp business URLs (https://www.yelp.com/biz/gary-danko-san-francisco) or IDs to scrape directly, and Yelp search URLs (https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=sushi\&find_loc=San+Francisco) with their filters and sort.

## `maxResultsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

How many businesses to collect for each search term in each location. Yelp shows at most 240 results per search; above that, the scraper searches the area in map tiles to find more. Set to 0 for every business it can find.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of search results. With a limit, it decides which businesses you get.

## `category` (type: `string`):

Optional Yelp category alias, as in the cflt= part of a Yelp search URL: e.g. plumbing, pizza, dentists, hair, coffee, autorepair. Can be used without search terms to get every business in the category.

## `priceLevels` (type: `array`):

Only businesses at these price levels. Leave empty for all.

## `openNow` (type: `boolean`):

Only businesses open at the time of the run (local time of the location).

## `features` (type: `array`):

Only businesses with all of these features.

## `maxReviewsPerBusiness` (type: `integer`):

Add up to this many reviews to each business (in a reviews list on the row). 0 = no reviews. For full review histories, use Yelp Reviews Scraper (epicscrapers/yelp-reviews-scraper).

## `reviewsSort` (type: `string`):

Which reviews to add when there are more than the limit.

## `reviewLanguages` (type: `array`):

Two-letter language codes, e.g. en, es, fr. Leave empty for reviews in every language.

## `includeReviewerDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Reviewer name, profile link, location, review count and Elite status on each review. Turn off to leave these empty, e.g. if you have no lawful basis to process personal data.

## `includeRatingBreakdown` (type: `boolean`):

Add how many 1★ to 5★ reviews each business has. Takes one extra request per business, so runs are a little slower.

## `onlyNewBusinesses` (type: `boolean`):

Remember which businesses earlier runs of the same search saved and return only ones not seen before. Turn it on in a saved task or schedule to get new leads as they appear on Yelp; you pay only for those.
