## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS Feed Reader & Scraper (Free): Feeds to JSON, CSV & Alerts

**Free RSS feed reader: read any RSS, Atom or JSON feed, or just give a website address and its feed is found for you.** Get titles, links, dates, authors, summaries, images and categories in a clean table, filter by keyword and date, and receive only new items on each scheduled run. No Actor fee: you only pay the tiny Apify platform usage (a run of 8 sites cost $0.0001 in our test).

- 🔎 **Feed discovery**: give `lemonde.fr`, `spiegel.de` or `techcrunch.com`; the Actor reads the page, finds the announced feed (or tries the usual addresses such as `/feed` and `/rss.xml`) and reads it.
- 📰 **Every format**: RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 (RDF), Atom and JSON Feed, with HTML cleaned out of summaries.
- 🧹 **One clean table**: title, URL, publication date (ISO), author, summary, categories, main image, feed title.
- 🔑 **Keyword and date filters**: keep only items about your brand, your competitors or your topic, from the last N days.
- 🔔 **Only new items**: give a monitor name and schedule the Actor; each run returns only what was not seen before. Connect it to Slack, email, Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or n8n for news alerts.
- ⚡ **Fast and light**: up to 2,000 feeds per run, 8 at a time; a run of a few feeds takes seconds.

### 🚀 Examples

**Latest news from several sites (feeds found automatically):**

```json
{
  "urls": ["lemonde.fr", "spiegel.de", "techcrunch.com", "https://news.ycombinator.com"],
  "maxItemsPerFeed": 20
}
```

**Brand monitoring, only new mentions, every hour:**

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://techcrunch.com", "https://www.theverge.com", "https://www.wired.com"],
  "keywords": ["openai", "anthropic", "mistral"],
  "monitorName": "ai-news"
}
```

### 📦 Output

One row per item. From a real run of 14 October 2026:

```json
{
  "type": "item",
  "title": "NASA to Discuss Artemis Acceleration, Status of Upcoming Moon Missions",
  "url": "https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-to-discuss-artemis-acceleration-status-of-upcoming-moon-missions/",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-14T13:32:25.000Z",
  "author": "Gerelle Q. Dodson",
  "summary": "As the Artemis II crew members came close to passing behind the Moon…",
  "categories": [],
  "feedTitle": "NASA",
  "feedUrl": "https://www.nasa.gov/feed/",
  "feedFormat": "rss",
  "inputUrl": "https://www.nasa.gov"
}
```

When no feed can be found, a row with `type: "error"` tells you which address failed and why.

### 💰 Price

**Free.** This Actor charges no fee. Apify bills only the platform usage of your run, a fraction of a cent for a few dozen feeds. The Apify free plan includes monthly credit.

### ❓ FAQ

**A website has no feed. What can I do?** Most news sites, blogs, WordPress and Substack sites publish one. If none is announced, the Actor returns an error row for that site.

**Some sites block the Apify servers** (Reddit, for example). Turn on Apify Proxy in the Proxy option.

**How does “only new items” work?** The Actor remembers the items it returned for a monitor name (up to 50,000) in your Apify account. Use one monitor name per alert.

**Can I get the full article text?** Feeds contain a summary or the start of the article. For full text, pass the URLs to a website content crawler.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Feed URLs (RSS, Atom, JSON Feed) or simply website addresses: the feed of each site is found automatically. Up to 2,000.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Optional: keep only items whose title, summary or categories contain one of these words.

## `maxAgeDays` (type: `integer`):

Optional: keep only items published in the last N days.

Optional: keep only items published after this date (overrides Maximum age).

## `maxItemsPerFeed` (type: `integer`):

Most feeds hold their last 10 to 50 items.

## `allFeedsOfSite` (type: `boolean`):

When a website announces several feeds (news, comments, categories), read all of them (up to 10) instead of the main one.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for most feeds. Turn on Apify Proxy if a site blocks the Apify servers.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://www.theverge.com",
    "https://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/technology/rss.xml"
  ],
  "allFeedsOfSite": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```
