## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Companies House Scraper: Directors, Leads & Emails

Build **UK B2B lead lists** from the official Companies House register. Filter by industry (SIC code), location, incorporation date, status and company type. For every company you get its full profile, directors and officers, accounts and confirmation-statement dates. Optionally, the Actor also finds the **company's own website, emails and phone numbers**.

No API key and no Companies House account needed.

### ✨ Why this Actor

| | |
|---|---|
| 🌐 **Websites, emails & phones** | Other Companies House scrapers stop at the register. This one also finds each company's own website and extracts its emails, phones and social links. A site is marked `verified_company_number` when it shows the company number (UK law requires it). It is marked `probable` when the domain and the page both match the company's full name, or the domain and the registered postcode. Billed only when a website is found. |
| ♾️ **No 10,000-result cap** | Companies House search stops at 10,000 results. The Actor splits large searches by incorporation date automatically, so you can export a whole industry. |
| 🆕 **New-incorporation feeds** | `incorporatedInLastDays: 7` combined with a schedule gives you a weekly list of brand-new companies in your sector and area, the classic lead source for accountants, banks, insurers and web agencies. |
| 🔔 **Change monitoring** | Get alerted when a company changes status (for example into liquidation), name, registered office, SIC codes, active directors or accounts, with before/after values. |
| 🧾 **Clean data** | ISO dates, postcodes extracted, SIC codes with descriptions, an overdue-accounts flag, charges and insolvency flags, directors split into first and last names, and identity-verification status. |
| ⚖️ **Balanced results** | With several SIC codes, results are interleaved between them, not all from the first code. |

### 🎯 Use cases

- **New business leads**: IT consultancies incorporated in London in the last 7 days, delivered every Monday.
- **Credit and KYC monitoring**: get notified when a client or supplier's status, directors or registered office changes.
- **Market research**: how many companies in a SIC code were incorporated or dissolved in a region and period.

### 🌐 How contact enrichment works

1. We guess the likely domains from the company name (`.co.uk`, `.com`, `.uk`, with and without "and", "ltd" and hyphens) and keep only those that exist.
2. We read the home page, the legal, terms and privacy pages, and the contact page.
3. We keep the site if it shows the company number (`verified_company_number`), or if both the domain and the page match the full company name, or if the domain and the registered postcode match (`probable`). Otherwise we return nothing rather than a wrong site.

In our tests on established plumbing and heating companies in Leeds and Manchester, **about 1 in 5 to 1 in 3** companies received a website. Most had an email and a phone. Brand-new companies rarely have a website yet.

### 💰 Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Company (profile + officers) | **$4 / 1,000 companies** |
| Website + contacts found (only when found) | **$25 / 1,000 enriched companies** |
| Run start | $0.003 |

### ❓ FAQ

- **Is this legal?** Companies House data is public. Officer names and months of birth are personal data: use them in line with UK GDPR and PECR, for example B2B outreach with a legitimate interest and an easy opt-out.
- **Which location does the filter use?** The registered office address. It's often an accountant's office, so a company may trade elsewhere.
- **Why do monitoring runs take longer?** To detect changes, every company matching your filters is re-checked. Keep monitored searches focused, for example with a SIC code plus a location, or with `incorporatedInLastDays`.
