## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Bluesky Scraper — Posts, Profiles & Followers API

**Scrape public Bluesky data — no login required.** Built on Bluesky's official **AT Protocol** API, this scraper pulls an account's **posts, profile, followers, and following** into clean structured records. Perfect for social research, competitor monitoring, and building datasets on the fast-growing Bluesky network.

### What it does

- **Posts** — an account's author feed with text, timestamps, and engagement (likes, reposts, replies, quotes).
- **Profile** — display name, description, and follower / following / post counts.
- **Followers / Following** — the accounts connected to a handle.
- **No auth** — uses the public AppView API; just provide handles.

### Use cases

- **Social monitoring** — track an account's posts and reach on Bluesky.
- **Audience research** — export a handle's followers / following.
- **Datasets** — collect posts for sentiment, trends, or LLM training.
- **Migration tracking** — follow the growth of accounts moving to Bluesky.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `handles` | Bluesky handles (e.g. `bsky.app`) or profile URLs. |
| `resource` | `posts`, `followers`, `following`, or `profile`. |
| `maxItems` | Cap on items per handle (main cost lever). |

### Output

Posts (one record each):

```json
{
  "handle": "bsky.app",
  "type": "post",
  "uri": "at://did:plc:.../app.bsky.feed.post/3l...",
  "text": "Welcome to Bluesky!",
  "createdAt": "2026-07-09T23:20:29.000Z",
  "likeCount": 4572,
  "repostCount": 210,
  "replyCount": 88,
  "quoteCount": 12,
  "authorHandle": "bsky.app",
  "url": "https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app/post/3l..."
}
```

Profile / followers / following return account records (`did`, `displayName`, `description`, counts, profile URL).

### Pricing

Pay-per-result: charged **per item returned** — no monthly fee, no charge for handles that can't be found.

### Notes

- Uses Bluesky's **official public AT Protocol API** — reads public, logged-out data only.
- **Keyword search across the whole network requires Bluesky authentication** (an app password) and is on the roadmap; this version focuses on keyless, per-account scraping.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Bluesky account?** No — everything here is public and keyless.

**Can I get a full follower list?** Yes — set `resource: followers` and raise `maxItems`.

**What formats can I export?** JSON, JSONL, CSV, or Excel, or via the Apify API.

# Actor input Schema

## `handles` (type: `array`):

Accounts to scrape — handles (e.g. bsky.app) or profile URLs (https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app).

## `resource` (type: `string`):

Which public data to fetch for each handle.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Cap on posts / followers / following returned per handle (main cost lever).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "handles": [
    "bsky.app"
  ],
  "resource": "posts",
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `items` (type: `string`):

One normalized Bluesky record per item. Export as JSON, JSONL, CSV, or Excel.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "handles": [
        "bsky.app"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("f0rty7even/bluesky-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
