## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Woolworths AU Products Scraper (Fast, No Browser)

Get **prices**, **specials**, **unit prices**, **barcodes** and **availability** for any product search on woolworths.com.au, sorted the way you choose.

### Why this Actor

- **Fast and cheap to run.** It calls the same JSON search the Woolworths website uses, 36 products per request, instead of opening a browser.
- **Patient with bot protection.** Requests are spaced out, and when Woolworths says no the Actor switches to a fresh IP and new cookies and backs off before trying again. If several searches in a row are refused, the run stops early instead of burning time.
- **One bad search doesn't stop the run.** A search that fails, or finds nothing, is recorded as a row that explains what happened, and the run carries on with the rest of your list.
- **Safe restarts.** If the platform moves your run to another server, it resumes where it stopped, without duplicate products.
- **Familiar input.** It uses the same field names as the popular Woolworths scraper: `searchTerms`, `sortBy`, `specialsOnly`, `maxResults` and `proxyConfiguration`.

### What you get

One dataset item per product:

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `searchTerm`, `position` | The search that found the product and its place in the results |
| `stockcode`, `barcode` | Woolworths product code and the barcode (GTIN), when Woolworths lists one |
| `name`, `brand`, `packageSize`, `variety` | What the product is |
| `price`, `wasPrice`, `savings` | Current online price, the regular price and the saving |
| `isOnSpecial`, `isHalfPrice` | Whether the product is on special right now |
| `unitPrice`, `unitMeasure`, `unitPriceText` | Price per unit, e.g. `$1.65 / 1L` |
| `isAvailable`, `isInStock` | Whether it can be bought online now |
| `isMarketplace`, `isSponsored` | Sold by a third-party seller (Everyday Market), or placed as an ad |
| `url`, `imageUrl` | Product page and image |
| `scrapedAt` | When the product was collected |

### Use cases

- **Price monitoring**: track the prices and specials of your products, or your competitors', every day.
- **Specials alerts**: collect the products Woolworths lists as specials for the searches you follow.
- **Unit-price comparison**: rank products by price per litre or per kilo.
- **Catalog matching**: match products across retailers by barcode (GTIN).
- **Market research**: see which brands, ranges and pack sizes Woolworths sells for any search.

### Input example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["milk", "coffee beans"],
  "sortBy": "unitPriceLowToHigh",
  "specialsOnly": false,
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

- `sortBy`: `relevance`, `priceLowToHigh`, `priceHighToLow`, `unitPriceLowToHigh` or `name`.
- `specialsOnly`: only the products Woolworths currently lists as specials.
- `maxResults`: the limit per search term, from 1 to 10,000.

  "scrapedAt": "2026-09-29T10:00:00Z"

```
### How much does it cost?
**The Actor is free during launch.** You only pay Apify for the platform usage of your runs, and Apify's free plan includes $5 of usage every month, with no credit card.
In our test runs, 1,000 products cost about $0.01 of platform usage with the default datacenter proxy, so the free plan covers hundreds of thousands of products a month.
### Good to know
- Prices are Woolworths **online** prices. In-store prices can differ.
- Products that are unavailable online have no price; Woolworths still lists them in their place in the results.
- Sponsored products appear where Woolworths places them. Use `isSponsored` to leave them out.
- Everyday Market products from third-party sellers are included and flagged with `isMarketplace`.
- Only woolworths.com.au (Australia) is supported.
### FAQ
**Do I need a Woolworths account?** No.
**Are these in-store prices?** No, they are the online prices on woolworths.com.au. In-store prices can differ.
**Does it cover Coles or other retailers?** Not yet: only woolworths.com.au.
**Can I run it every day?** Yes. Save your input as a task and schedule it in Apify.
**Can AI agents use it?** Yes, through the Apify MCP server, as a tool that takes search terms.
**Is it legal to collect this data?** The Actor collects public product information, with no personal data. Check the terms that apply to your use case.
### Use it from your code or AI agent
Run it through the Apify API, on a schedule to track prices over time, or from AI agents through the Apify MCP server, where it appears as a tool your agent can call with a search term.
This Actor collects public product information shown on woolworths.com.au. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Woolworths Group.
# Actor input Schema
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
Product searches, typed as you would on woolworths.com.au, e.g. milk, coffee beans, chicken breast. Each term is paged through separately.
  "searchTerms": [
    "milk"
  ],
  "sortBy": "relevance",
  "specialsOnly": false,
