## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Mercado Libre Autos Scraper (incl. TuCarro Colombia)

Scrape **new and used car listings** from Mercado Libre's vehicle marketplaces in **Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia (TuCarro)** — one actor, one clean schema for all five countries.

| Country | Site | Currency |
|---|---|---|
| Chile | autos.mercadolibre.cl | CLP |
| Mexico | autos.mercadolibre.com.mx | MXN |
| Argentina | autos.mercadolibre.com.ar | ARS / USD |
| Colombia | carros.tucarro.com.co (TuCarro, Mercado Libre's car site in Colombia) | COP |
| Uruguay | autos.mercadolibre.com.uy | USD / UYU |

Search by **make, model, year range, price range (local currency or USD), mileage, condition (new / used), location** and **sort order** — or paste any search URL from the site. Every vehicle comes back with make, model, version, year, price + currency (plus a USD conversion), km, city and region, condition, the official-store name and a photo. Turn on the **detail add-on** to also get fuel type, transmission, body type, doors, engine, color, traction, seller type (dealer vs. private), dealer name, publication date, all photos, the full spec table and the description.

### Why this actor

- **Five countries, one schema.** The same fields for Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and TuCarro Colombia — compare markets without writing five parsers.
- **Beats the 2,016-result cap.** Mercado Libre shows at most 2,016 results per search. Ask for more and the actor splits the search automatically into model-year bands (using the site's own year counts) and, when a single year is still too big, into price bands — then merges everything without duplicates.
- **Names, not slugs.** Type `vw`, `Mercedes Benz`, `CX5`, `CDMX` or `Zapopan, Jalisco`; the actor matches them against the site's own make, model, state and city lists. If something can't be matched it **fails with a list of valid options** instead of silently returning a nationwide or keyword search.
- **Prices you can compare.** Every listing keeps its own currency (Argentina and Uruguay mix pesos and dollars) and gets a `priceUsd` conversion using the site's own exchange rate. `previousPrice` shows price drops.
- **Privacy-safe by design.** Seller names are returned **only for businesses** (official stores and dealer accounts that are clearly companies). Private sellers' names and phone numbers are never collected, and phone numbers, e-mails and WhatsApp links are removed from descriptions.
- **Respects your budget.** With a maximum charge per run set, the actor stops cleanly before going over it — it never fetches detail pages you won't pay for.
- **Fast and light.** Plain HTTP (no browser), ~48 vehicles per request; 300 vehicles take about 10 seconds.

### Input examples

```json
{
    "country": "CL",
    "make": "Toyota",
    "model": "Hilux",
    "yearMin": 2019,
    "yearMax": 2023,
    "condition": "used",
    "location": "RM (Metropolitana)",
    "sort": "newest",
    "maxItems": 200
}
```

Volkswagen Jetta under 120,000 km in Zapopan (Mexico), cheapest first, with detail pages:

```json
{
    "country": "CO",
    "maxItems": 10000
}
```

Any filter the site offers (fuel, transmission, body type, color, seller type, keyword…) — paste the search URL:

```json
{
    "startUrls": [
        { "url": "https://carros.tucarro.com.co/renault/duster/bogota-dc/" },
        { "url": "https://autos.mercadolibre.com.ar/volkswagen/amarok/_PriceRange_0ARS-40000000ARS_NoIndex_True" }
    ],
    "maxItems": 500
}
```

#### Input fields

```
Without the detail add-on, `fuelType`, `transmission`, `bodyType`, `doors`, `engine`, `color`, `traction`, `photoCount`, `photos`, `publishedAgo`, `publishedAt`, `attributes` and `description` are `null`, and `sellerType` / `sellerName` are filled for official stores only. Spec values are kept in the site's own language (Spanish).
The run also writes a `SUMMARY` record to the key-value store: resolved search URLs, totals reported by the site, the year/price bands used to pass the 2,016 cap, detail errors and bytes downloaded.
### Pricing
Pay per event — you only pay for vehicles saved to your dataset.
| Event | When | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle result | each vehicle saved to the dataset | **US$3.00 per 1,000** (US$0.003 each) |
| Vehicle details (add-on) | each vehicle whose detail page was read with `fetchDetails` | **US$2.00 per 1,000** (US$0.002 each) |
| Actor start | once per run | US$0.00005 |
Examples: 1,000 vehicles = US$3.00 · 1,000 vehicles with details = US$5.00 · the default 50-vehicle run ≈ US$0.15. A failed detail page is not charged (the vehicle keeps its search data). Proxy costs are included. These per-vehicle prices are the same on the Apify Free plan and on paid plans; the **Pricing** tab always shows the current rate.
### Use cases
- **Used-car price research and valuation** — price by make, model, year and km across five Latin American markets, in local currency and USD.
- **Dealer and inventory monitoring** — track official stores and dealers, new arrivals (`sort: newest`) and price drops (`previousPrice`).
- **Lead lists of dealerships** — dealer and official-store names per city and brand (businesses only).
- **Market sizing** — the site's total counts per search are in the `SUMMARY` record.
- **Automotive data products** — feed pricing models, dashboards or classifieds aggregators.
### FAQ
**How many vehicles can I get?** Mercado Libre serves at most 2,016 results per search. With `splitLargeSearches` on (default), bigger requests are split into model-year bands and, if needed, price bands, so you can collect whole markets (e.g. ~29,000 cars in Chile). Results then arrive band by band, so the sort order applies within each band. Direct URLs return up to 2,016 each.
**Why are fuel type, transmission and color empty?** They are only on each listing's own page. Turn on `fetchDetails`. Some sellers leave fields blank on the site; those stay `null`.
**Do I need a proxy?** No. The actor connects directly and, if Mercado Libre answers with its verification page (it sometimes does for datacenter IPs), switches automatically to Apify residential proxies of the searched country. That cost is included in the price.
**Which sellers have a name?** Official stores (badge on the site) and dealer accounts whose name is clearly a business (a dealer storefront, a make name or words such as *Autos*, *Motors*, *Automotriz*). Private sellers never have a name, and dealer accounts that look like a person's name are left empty too.
**What about Peru and Brazil?** autos.mercadolibre.com.pe and carros.mercadolivre.com.br block automated access even through residential proxies (tested October 2026), so they are not supported.
**What are the `vpp` URLs?** Brand-new cars published by the manufacturer itself link to a catalog page (`www.mercadolibre.cl/vpp/...`) instead of a classified ad. They have no location; with `fetchDetails` you get their spec table (fuel, transmission, engine, body, doors, traction).
**Is `publishedAt` exact?** No — the site only says "Publicado hace 3 días"; the actor converts it to an approximate date.
**Motorcycles or trucks?** Not yet: the actor covers the "cars and pick-ups/vans" category of each site.
### Is it legal to scrape Mercado Libre and TuCarro?
The actor only collects vehicle listings that Mercado Libre and TuCarro show publicly to any visitor, without logging in. It returns seller names only for businesses (official stores and dealer accounts that are clearly companies), never collects private sellers' names or phone numbers, and removes phone numbers, e-mails and WhatsApp links from descriptions. Listings can still contain personal data (for example a licence plate or a location in a photo or text), so laws such as Chile's Ley 21.719, Mexico's LFPDPPP, Argentina's Ley 25.326, Colombia's Ley 1581, the EU GDPR or the California CCPA may apply to how you store and use the data; you are responsible for a lawful purpose. Photos and descriptions belong to the sellers, and you should respect Mercado Libre's terms of service. This is general information, not legal advice.
### Integrations
Run the Mercado Libre Autos Scraper from the Apify API or the JavaScript and Python clients, send results onward with webhooks, or schedule daily price checks in Apify Console. It works with n8n, Make and Zapier (for example, to load new listings into Google Sheets), and with LangChain and LlamaIndex through their Apify integrations. AI agents in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients can find and run it through Apify's MCP server. Export as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read from the dataset API.
### Use with AI agents
Use this actor to get new and used car listings from Mercado Libre in Chile, Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay, or TuCarro in Colombia, filtered by make, model, year, price, km, condition and location.
```json
{ "country": "CL", "make": "Toyota", "model": "Hilux", "condition": "used", "maxItems": 30 }
```
Main output fields: `make`, `model`, `version`, `year`, `price`, `currency`, `priceUsd`, `mileageKm`, `city`, `state`, `condition`, `url`, and with `fetchDetails` `fuelType`, `transmission`, `bodyType`, `sellerType`. It is pay-per-event: an agent pays a small start fee plus a fixed price per vehicle saved (and per detail page read), not for compute time.
# Actor input Schema
## `country` (type: `string`):
Which vehicle portal to search: Chile (autos.mercadolibre.cl), Mexico (autos.mercadolibre.com.mx), Argentina (autos.mercadolibre.com.ar), Uruguay (autos.mercadolibre.com.uy) or Colombia (carros.tucarro.com.co — TuCarro is Mercado Libre's car marketplace in Colombia).
## `make` (type: `string`):
Vehicle make as written on the site, e.g. `Toyota`, `Chevrolet`, `Mercedes-Benz`, `Great Wall`. Spelling variants are matched against the site's own brand list ("mercedes benz" → Mercedes-Benz). Leave empty for all makes. If the make can't be matched, the run fails with a list of the makes the site has instead of returning unrelated results.
## `model` (type: `string`):
Model of the make above, e.g. `Corolla`, `Hilux`, `RAV4`, `Corolla Cross`, `CX-5`. Requires a make. Leave empty for all models. Unknown models fail with the list of models the site has for that make.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many vehicles. The site serves 48 per page and at most 2,016 per search — bigger requests are split automatically into year and price bands (see "Split large searches").
## `fetchDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Open each listing's own page (1 extra request per vehicle) to add fuel type, transmission, body type, doors, engine, color, traction, seller type (dealer vs. private), dealer name, publication date, photo count and all photo URLs, the full spec table (safety, comfort, entertainment…) and the description (phone numbers and e-mails removed). Charged as a separate "vehicle details" event on top of the result event. Off = faster, cheaper runs with search-card data only.
## `yearMin` (type: `integer`):
Oldest model year (e.g. 2018). 0 = no minimum.
## `yearMax` (type: `integer`):
Newest model year (e.g. 2024). 0 = no maximum.
## `priceMin` (type: `integer`):
Minimum price in the price-filter currency below. 0 = no minimum.
## `priceMax` (type: `integer`):
Maximum price in the price-filter currency below. 0 = no maximum.
## `priceCurrency` (type: `string`):
Currency of the price filter: the local currency (CLP, MXN, ARS, COP or UYU) or US dollars. The site converts, so a USD band also matches listings priced in pesos and vice versa (useful in Argentina and Uruguay, where many cars are listed in USD). Each result reports its own listed currency plus a `priceUsd` conversion.
## `kmMin` (type: `integer`):
Minimum mileage in kilometres. 0 = no minimum.
## `kmMax` (type: `integer`):
Maximum mileage in kilometres. 0 = no maximum.
## `condition` (type: `string`):
`new` = 0 km vehicles (mostly dealers and official stores), `used` = used / pre-owned.
## `location` (type: `string`):
Free text: a state / region / department (`RM (Metropolitana)` or `RM`, `Jalisco`, `CDMX`, `Córdoba`, `Antioquia`, `Bogotá`, `Montevideo`) or a city, best written as `City, State` (`Vitacura, RM`, `Zapopan, Jalisco`, `Medellín, Antioquia`). A city alone also works when the site can place it. You can also paste the site's own path (`rm-metropolitana/vitacura`). Leave empty for the whole country. If the location can't be matched, the run fails with a clear error instead of returning nationwide or keyword results.
## `sort` (type: `string`):
`relevance` is the site's own order. `newest` returns the most recently published listings first — the right choice for monitoring new stock.
## `splitLargeSearches` (type: `boolean`):
Mercado Libre serves at most 2,016 results per search. When the search has more and you ask for more than that, the Actor splits it automatically into model-year bands (using the site's own year counts) and, where a single year is still too big, into price bands, then merges the results without duplicates. Results then come band by band, so the sort order applies within each band. Turn off to stop at 2,016.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Instead of the filters above, paste one or more search-results URLs copied from autos.mercadolibre.cl, autos.mercadolibre.com.mx, autos.mercadolibre.com.ar, autos.mercadolibre.com.uy or carros.tucarro.com.co after applying any filters you like on the site (fuel, transmission, body type, color, seller type, keyword…). When this list is not empty, the filter fields above are ignored. Each URL returns at most 2,016 vehicles; Max vehicles applies to all URLs together.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Optional. By default the Actor connects directly and, if Mercado Libre answers with its anti-bot verification page (it sometimes does for datacenter IPs, including Apify's), switches automatically to Apify RESIDENTIAL proxies in the searched country. You don't need to change this.
