## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Yahoo Finance Scraper - quotes, price history, fundamentals, options, screeners and news

Pull market data for any Yahoo Finance ticker without an API key. One Actor, seven selectable modes, one flat dataset where every row says what it is (`recordType`). Pay only for the records you save: **US$0.50 per 1,000 records**.

### What you can collect

| Mode | What you get | Records |
|---|---|---|
| `quotes` | Live/delayed quote: price, change, volume, market cap, 52-week range, P/E, dividend yield, pre/post-market... | 1 per symbol |
| `history` | OHLCV bars + adjusted close for any range/interval (1 minute to 3 months), plus dividends and splits | 1 per bar / event |
| `summary` | Fundamentals modules: valuation, key statistics, analyst targets and ratings, company profile, earnings, calendar | 1 per symbol |
| `financials` | Income statement, balance sheet and cash-flow figures per fiscal period (annual and/or quarterly) | 1 per symbol and period |
| `options` | Option chain: strike, bid/ask, last, volume, open interest, implied volatility, in-the-money flag | 1 per contract |
| `screener` | Yahoo predefined lists: day gainers/losers, most active, undervalued growth, most shorted, top ETFs... | 1 per row |
| `news` | Latest news per ticker: title, publisher, link, time, related tickers | 1 per article |

Works for stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, indices (`^GSPC`), crypto (`BTC-USD`), forex (`EURUSD=X`), futures (`GC=F`) and non-US listings (`SAP.DE`, `7203.T`).

### Input examples

Daily prices for the last year:

```json
{ "modes": ["history"], "symbols": ["AAPL", "MSFT", "NVDA"], "range": "1y", "interval": "1d", "maxItems": 1000 }
```

Fundamentals and analyst targets:

```json
{ "modes": ["summary", "financials"], "symbols": ["TSLA", "AMZN"], "financialsPeriod": "both" }
```

Options chain (nearest 3 expirations, calls only):

```json
{ "modes": ["options"], "symbols": ["SPY"], "maxExpirations": 3, "optionType": "calls", "maxItems": 2000 }
```

Market movers (no symbols needed):

```json
{ "modes": ["screener"], "screeners": ["day_gainers", "most_actives"], "maxItemsPerScreener": 50 }
```

### Output

Every record has the same top-level shape; the `data` object holds the mode-specific fields.

```json
{
  "recordType": "history",
  "symbol": "AAPL",
  "name": "Apple Inc.",
  "date": "2026-10-12T13:30:00.000Z",
  "price": 341.2,
  "change": 3.1,
  "changePercent": 0.9168,
  "volume": 41234500,
  "marketCap": null,
  "currency": "USD",
  "data": { "open": 338.4, "high": 342.9, "low": 337.8, "close": 341.2, "adjClose": 341.2, "volume": 41234500, "interval": "1d", "exchange": "NMS", "timezone": "America/New_York" },
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-13T16:50:00.000Z"
}
```

`recordType` is one of `quote`, `history`, `dividend`, `split`, `summary`, `financials`, `option`, `screener`, `news`. For history rows `price` is the close and `change`/`changePercent` are versus the previous bar. For `financials`, `data` holds `totalRevenue`, `grossProfit`, `operatingIncome`, `ebitda`, `netIncome`, `dilutedEPS`, `totalAssets`, `stockholdersEquity`, `totalDebt`, `operatingCashFlow`, `freeCashFlow` and more.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Record saved (any mode) | US$0.50 per 1,000 (US$0.0005 each) |

Set **Max records in total** to cap spending. The Actor stops exactly at that number (or at your Apify spending limit).

### FAQ

**Do I need an API key or a login?** No. Only public Yahoo Finance data is read.

**Is the data real time?** Quotes carry Yahoo's own delay (real time for most US stocks, 15 minutes for some exchanges). Each quote includes `regularMarketTime`.

**How far back does history go?** Use `range: "max"` or a `startDate`. Intraday bars are limited by Yahoo (1-minute bars: the last 8 days per request; other intraday: about 60 days).

**What about proxies?** The Actor starts on Apify datacenter proxy. If Yahoo rate-limits it, it switches to a US residential proxy automatically and says so in the log and in the `SUMMARY` record.

**Are personal names exported?** No. Company officer lists and insider modules are not available; the data is about securities and companies.

**Use cases:** backtesting and quant research, portfolio dashboards, screening and alerts, fundamentals databases, options analytics, feeding market data to AI agents and LLM pipelines, news monitoring per ticker.

Yahoo Finance symbols: stocks (AAPL), ETFs (SPY), indices (^GSPC), crypto (BTC-USD), forex (EURUSD=X), futures (GC=F), non-US listings (SAP.DE, 7203.T). Not needed for the screener mode.

## `range` (type: `string`):

How far back to go for price history. Ignored when a start or end date is set.

## `startDate` (type: `string`):

Optional. Overrides the range.

## `endDate` (type: `string`):

Optional. Defaults to now.

## `includeEvents` (type: `boolean`):

Adds one extra record per dividend payment and stock split in the period (recordType dividend / split).

## `summaryModules` (type: `array`):

Fundamentals modules to fetch in the summary mode. Company officers are never exported.

## `financialsPeriod` (type: `string`):

Annual, quarterly or both. One record per symbol and fiscal period with revenue, gross profit, operating income, EBITDA, net income, EPS, assets, liabilities, equity, cash, debt and cash flows.

## `maxExpirations` (type: `integer`):

Keep calls, puts or both.

## `screeners` (type: `array`):

Yahoo predefined screeners used by the screener mode.

## `maxItemsPerScreener` (type: `integer`):

## `newsPerSymbol` (type: `integer`):

Latest news articles per symbol in the news mode.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
