## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Companies House Lookup & Monitor

Give it **your list of UK companies** — Companies House numbers or names, one per line — and get one record per company from the **official Companies House API** (no scraping): name and number, status and status detail, type, jurisdiction, SIC codes, incorporation and dissolution dates, previous names, registered-office area, **accounts** (type, last period end, next due, overdue flag), **confirmation statement** (last made up to, next due, overdue flag), insolvency and liquidation flags, **charges** (totals plus the latest 25 with status and dates), the **latest 25 filing events** (date, category, form type, description code) and **corporate persons with significant control** with their natures of control.

### Monitor it

Set **Mode** to *Monitor* and schedule the run (daily is plenty — the register updates overnight). The previous run's records are the baseline, kept in this actor's key-value store, so each run returns **only the companies that changed**: new to your list (`change: added`), changed on the register (`change: changed`, with `changed_fields` naming what moved — `status`, `accounts_overdue`, `charges_outstanding`, `filings_total`, `corporate_controllers`, …) or gone from the register (`change: removed`). Unchanged companies push nothing and cost nothing. Pipe the dataset to Slack, email, Sheets or a webhook with any Apify integration.

### What people use it for

- **Credit control and supplier onboarding** — accounts or confirmation statement overdue, new charges, status moving to "liquidation" or a strike-off gazette filing.
- **KYB refresh** — re-check a client book monthly for status, SIC and controller changes.
- **Portfolio watch** — competitors, customers or investees: new filings and charges as they land.

### Output (one item per company)

`company_number, company, status, status_detail, company_type, subtype, jurisdiction, incorporated_on, dissolved_on, sic_codes, previous_names, locality, region, postal_code, country, registered_office_in_dispute, accounts_type, accounts_last_period_end, accounts_next_due, accounts_overdue, confirmation_last_made_up_to, confirmation_next_due, confirmation_overdue, has_charges, has_insolvency_history, has_been_liquidated, charges_total, charges_outstanding, charges_satisfied, charges[], filings_total, filings[], controllers_active, controllers_ceased, individual_controllers, corporate_controllers[], company_url` — plus `change`, `changed_at` and `changed_fields` in Monitor mode.

Organisation-level data only: officers and individual PSCs are never included (filing events carry the form and description code, e.g. `AP01` / `appoint-person-director-company-with-name-date`, not the person's name), charge holders are omitted and registered-office street lines are dropped. Crown copyright — attribute Companies House if you republish. Pay per result; set **Maximum results** to control spend. Data from gankdat.com.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

One company per line: a Companies House number (e.g. 00000006, SC123456 — short numbers are zero-padded) or a company name (the best search match is used). Each company is one result.

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Monitor mode keeps the previous run's records as the baseline (in this actor's key-value store) and pushes a company only when it is new to the list, has changed (status, charges, accounts or confirmation-statement dates, filings, corporate PSCs — see changed_fields) or has disappeared from the register. Schedule it daily; unchanged companies cost nothing.

## `max_results` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many results (you are charged per result).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "00000006"
  ],
  "mode": "data",
  "max_results": 1000
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per record, as JSON (also downloadable as CSV/Excel from the dataset).

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "companies": [
        "00000006"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("faceless-api/uk-companies-house-lookup-monitor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
