## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 keywords

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper

Get **Google Trends data for any keywords**: **interest over time**, **interest by country, region or city**, and **related queries** (top and rising, including "Breakout" searches). Compare up to 5 keywords on the same scale, for any country, period, category or search type (web, YouTube, News, Shopping, Images).

- 🔁 **Reliable**: when Google Trends rate-limits an IP (HTTP 429), the Actor automatically retries with a fresh session and a new IP
- 📈 **Ready-to-use metrics**: average interest, latest value and peak date for each keyword, plus the full time series
- 🗺️ **Interest by region** at country, region/state, city or US metro (DMA) level
- 🚀 **Rising queries** with their growth (`+400%`, `Breakout`) to spot emerging topics early
- ⚖️ **Compare keywords** like on trends.google.com, or analyze each one on its own scale
- 🧾 Pay per keyword

### Use cases

- **SEO & content strategy**: find rising searches and seasonal peaks before writing content
- **Market research & product launches**: compare brands, products or features by country and over time
- **Investing & crypto**: track public interest in tickers, tokens or themes as an alternative data signal
- **E-commerce**: plan inventory and campaigns with Shopping and YouTube search trends
- **Dashboards and AI agents**: schedule the Actor and feed Google Sheets, BI tools or LLM workflows

### Output

One item per keyword:

```json
{
    "keyword": "whey protein",
    "comparedWith": ["bitcoin", "ethereum", "solana"],
    "geo": "US",
    "timeRange": "today 3-m",
    "averageInterest": 8.2,
    "latestInterest": 7,
    "peakInterestDate": "2026-07-08T00:00:00Z",
    "interestOverTime": [{"date": "2026-07-07T00:00:00Z", "formattedTime": "Jul 7, 2026", "value": 8, "isPartial": false}],
    "interestByRegion": [{"geoCode": "US-KS", "name": "Kansas", "value": 100}, {"geoCode": "US-WY", "name": "Wyoming", "value": 94}],
    "relatedQueries": {
        "top": [{"query": "protein powder", "value": 100, "formattedValue": "100"}],
        "rising": [{"query": "why is whey protein so expensive", "value": 400, "formattedValue": "+400%"}]
    },
    "relatedTopics": {"top": [], "rising": []},
    "googleTrendsUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=bitcoin%2Cethereum%2Csolana%2Cwhey%20protein&date=today%203-m&geo=US"
}
```

Values are Google Trends indexes from 0 to 100 (100 = peak popularity in the selected period and region). With **Compare keywords** on, all keywords of a group share the same scale.

### How to use it

1. Enter your **keywords**.
2. Choose a **country or region** (empty = worldwide), a **time range** and a **search type**.
3. Turn on **Compare keywords together** to put them on the same scale (groups of 5).
4. Run, then export as JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule it to follow trends over time.

#### Input example

```json
{
    "keywords": ["bitcoin", "ethereum", "solana"],
    "compareKeywords": true,
    "geo": "US",
    "timeRange": "today 3-m",
    "searchType": "web"
}
```

### FAQ

**Why is Kansas often at the top of US regions?** It's a known Google Trends artifact: searches that can only be located to "United States" are attributed to the geographic center of the country, in Kansas.

**Why are related topics sometimes empty?** Google Trends doesn't provide them for every request (for example when comparing several keywords); related queries are usually available.

**Why do values differ from yesterday's run?** Google Trends is based on a sample of searches, so values can change slightly from one request to another.

**Is it legal?** The Actor only collects publicly available, aggregated data. You are responsible for using it in line with applicable laws and Google's terms.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Search terms to analyze (one per line).

## `compareKeywords` (type: `boolean`):

Compare keywords on the same scale, like on trends.google.com (groups of up to 5). Off: each keyword is analyzed on its own, with its own 0–100 scale.

Two-letter country code (US, FR, GB…) or region code (US-CA, FR-IDF…). Empty for worldwide.

Top and rising related topics.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of region and topic names (en-US, fr, de…).

## `timezoneOffsetMinutes` (type: `integer`):

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy used to reach Google Trends. The default Apify Proxy works in most cases; the Actor switches IP automatically when Google limits it.
