# Website Email & Contact Extractor: Emails, Phones, Socials (`fernandosord/website-contact-extractor`) Actor

Get emails, phone numbers and social media links from any list of websites or domains. Reads the home page plus contact, about, team and imprint pages, decodes Cloudflare-protected emails and returns one row per site. Unreachable sites are free.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

This Actor takes a list of websites or bare domains and returns one row per site with its email addresses, phone numbers and social media links (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, GitHub, Threads). It reads the home page, then follows links on the same site that look like contact, about, team, imprint, legal or privacy pages, up to the page limit you set. No login, cookie or API key needed.

- **Paste anything.** `acme.com`, `www.acme.com/about`, `https://acme.com` or even `info@acme.com` all work. The same domain listed twice is read once.
- **Finds hidden emails.** It reads `mailto:` links, structured data on the page and addresses hidden by Cloudflare's email protection (the `[email protected]` placeholder), and it understands `name [at] site [dot] com`.
- **Removes junk.** Image names like `logo@2x.png`, placeholder addresses like `you@example.com`, Sentry and Wix tracking addresses and `no-reply` addresses are dropped.
- **One row per site.** Easy to join with your own list, and unreachable sites are never saved or billed.

### What data you get

| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| `domain`, `url`, `input` | The site's domain, its home page address after redirects, and what you typed |
| `title` | Title of the home page |
| `emails` | Email addresses, lowercase and deduplicated, addresses on the site's own domain first |
| `phones` | Phone numbers from `tel:` links, structured data and page text, as the site writes them |
| `linkedin`, `facebook`, `instagram`, `twitter`, `youtube`, `tiktok`, `pinterest`, `github`, `threads` | Profile links per network (share buttons and single posts are ignored) |
| `contactPageUrl` | The contact page that was read, or the imprint page when there is no contact page |
| `pagesCrawled`, `crawledUrls` | How many pages loaded and which ones |

### How to use it

1. Add your websites or domains, one per line.
2. Set **Max pages per website**. 5 is enough for most business sites. Use 1 to read the home page only.
3. Optional: turn on **Skip sites with no contact details** to save only sites where something was found.
4. Run it and export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent through the Apify MCP server.

The run also writes a `SUMMARY` record to the key-value store with counts and the sites that could not be read, each with the reason (domain not found, timed out, blocked with HTTP 403, not a web page).

#### Example input

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://www.postgresql.org", "wpbeginner.com"],
  "maxPagesPerSite": 5
}
```

#### Example output (one site, from a real run, shortened)

```json
{
  "domain": "wpbeginner.com",
  "url": "https://www.wpbeginner.com/",
  "input": "wpbeginner.com",
  "title": "WPBeginner - Beginner's Guide for WordPress",
  "emails": ["support@wpbeginner.com", "security@awesomemotive.com"],
  "phones": ["561-408-1057"],
  "linkedin": ["https://www.linkedin.com/company/wpbeginner"],
  "facebook": ["https://www.facebook.com/wpbeginner"],
  "instagram": ["https://www.instagram.com/wpbeginner"],
  "twitter": ["https://twitter.com/wpbeginner"],
  "youtube": [],
  "tiktok": [],
  "pinterest": ["https://www.pinterest.com/wpbeginner"],
  "github": [],
  "threads": [],
  "contactPageUrl": "https://www.wpbeginner.com/contact/",
  "pagesCrawled": 5,
  "crawledUrls": [
    "https://www.wpbeginner.com/",
    "https://www.wpbeginner.com/contact/",
    "https://www.wpbeginner.com/about-wpbeginner/"
  ],
  "scrapedAt": "2026-11-02T02:15:40.786Z"
}
```

In this example both email addresses sit behind Cloudflare's email protection on the contact page. They were decoded, so you get the real addresses.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per website saved. A site that cannot be reached, an invalid address or a duplicate domain costs nothing. The reading itself (up to 50 pages per site) is included in the price per site.

Each website costs $0.008, plus $0.0005 once per run. 1,000 websites cost about $8, and Apify's free plan credit of $5 a month covers about 600 websites.

### Use cases

- **Lead generation:** turn a list of company domains into contact emails, phone numbers and LinkedIn pages for outreach.
- **Enrich a leads list:** feed the websites from a Google Maps or directory scrape into this Actor to add the emails that the listing did not have. It pairs well with [Business Leads List](https://apify.com/fernandosord/open-places-leads).
- **Link building and PR:** find the editor, press or webmaster address of the sites you want to contact.
- **CRM clean-up:** check which contacts in your database have changed their published email or phone.

### FAQ

**Does it find emails that are not on the site?**
No. It only reports addresses that the site publishes in its pages. It does not guess addresses like `info@` or look at who works there, so a site that only has a contact form returns an empty `emails` list.

**Does it run JavaScript?**
No. It reads the HTML the server sends, which is fast and cheap. Sites that build their whole page in the browser, or that hide contact details behind a script, may come back with little or nothing. Static pages, WordPress, Shopify, Wix and most business sites work.

**Why did a site fail?**
The most common reasons are a domain that does not exist, a site that is down, and a site that answers HTTP 403 to automated requests. For the last one, turn on Apify Proxy in the input. The reason for each failed site is in the `SUMMARY` record. If every site in a run fails, the run fails and shows the reasons.

**Which pages does it read?**
The home page first. Then links on the same site (subdomains included) whose address or link text mentions contact, about, team, imprint (Impressum), legal notice, support, locations, privacy or terms, in many languages. Contact pages come first, and if the home page has no contact link it tries `/contact`, `/contact-us` and `/kontakt`. Each attempt counts toward **Max pages per website**.

**How accurate are the phone numbers?**
Numbers in `tel:` links and structured data are reliable. Numbers found in page text are matched by pattern, with dates, versions and ids filtered out, and some odd ones can still slip through. Fax numbers are skipped. Numbers are kept as the site writes them, not converted to one format.

**Is this legal?**
It reads pages that the sites publish openly. You are responsible for how you use the data, especially personal email addresses, under laws such as GDPR and CAN-SPAM.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Website addresses or bare domains, one per line: https://www.example.com, example.com or www.example.com/about. An email address such as info@example.com is read as its domain. The same domain listed twice is checked once.

## `maxPagesPerSite` (type: `integer`):

How many pages to read on each site, the home page included. After the home page the Actor follows links on the same site that look like contact, about, team, imprint, legal or privacy pages, best matches first. 1 reads the home page only.

## `onlySitesWithContacts` (type: `boolean`):

Off by default: every site that loads is saved, even when no email, phone or social link was found. Turn on to save only sites where at least one was found, so you do not pay for empty rows.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many websites are read at the same time. Raise it for long lists, lower it if sites start refusing requests.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Most sites load without a proxy. Turn on Apify Proxy if many sites answer 403 or time out; residential proxy gets through most bot protection but costs extra.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://www.postgresql.org",
    "wpbeginner.com"
  ],
  "maxPagesPerSite": 5,
  "onlySitesWithContacts": false,
  "maxConcurrency": 8,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per website: emails, phones, social links and the contact page.
