## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Firmy.cz Business Directory Scraper

Build structured Czech business datasets from Firmy.cz category pages, search pages, and company profiles.

The actor is useful for lead generation, local market research, competitor research, directory building, CRM enrichment, and location-based business analysis.

### Quick start

1. Choose a **Category** and **Region** in the input form.
2. Decide whether to open company profiles with **Open detail pages**.
3. Set **Maximum companies** and start the run.
4. Export the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel, or use it through the Apify API and integrations.

The guided category and region selectors are the easiest option for broad regional crawls. Advanced users can provide one or more Firmy.cz URLs through **Start URLs** or **Category URLs** for searches, subcategories, localities, or specific profile pages.

### Input

#### Category and region

Select a top-level category and Czech region from the dropdowns. The actor creates the corresponding Firmy.cz listing URL automatically.

#### Advanced URLs

Use **Start URLs** when you already have search, subcategory, locality, or company profile URLs. **Category URLs** accepts a plain list of URLs and is convenient for programmatic runs.

#### Open detail pages

Enabled by default. The actor visits each company profile to enrich the listing with additional contact and business information. Disable it for faster, listing-only exports.

#### Maximum pages per listing

Controls pagination for each listing URL. Use `0` to follow all discovered pages.

#### Maximum companies

Controls the total number of companies written to the dataset. Use `0` for no item limit.

#### HTTP concurrency

Controls how many pages can be fetched in parallel. The default value of `3` is a good starting point.

### Example inputs

#### Restaurants in Prague

```json
{
  "category": "Restauracni-a-pohostinske-sluzby",
  "region": "kraj-praha",
  "includeDetails": true,
  "maxPages": 2,
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

#### Listing-only auto-moto crawl

```json
{
  "category": "Auto-moto",
  "region": "kraj-jihomoravsky",
  "includeDetails": false,
  "maxPages": 0,
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

#### Custom search URLs

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    "https://www.firmy.cz/Auto-moto/kraj-praha",
    "https://www.firmy.cz/Remesla-a-sluzby/kraj-jihomoravsky"
  ],
  "includeDetails": true,
  "maxItems": 200
}
```
