## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Florida Workers' Comp Coverage & Exemption Check

Check in seconds whether a Florida company has an **active workers' compensation policy** or an **officer exemption**, using the official public data of the **Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Workers' Compensation**.

Built for **general contractors** vetting subcontractors, **insurance agents** checking prospects, **premium auditors**, **lenders** and **compliance teams**.

### What you get for each company

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `status` | `ACTIVE_POLICY`, `ACTIVE_EXEMPTION_ONLY`, `NO_ACTIVE_COVERAGE_FOUND` or `NOT_FOUND` |
| `carriers` | Insurance carriers of the active policies |
| `next_policy_expiration` | Earliest expiration date among active policies |
| `exact_name_match` | Whether a result matches your name exactly (the state search also returns similar names) |
| `policies` | Every policy found: employer, named insured, FEIN, policy number, carrier, effective / cancellation / expiration dates, PEO client flag, governing class code, locations |
| `exemptions` | Every Certificate of Election to be Exempt found: officer name, effective and expiration dates, employer, address, construction / non-construction |
| `state_data_last_updated` | Date the state last refreshed its data |

### How to use

1. Paste company names (legal names work best) and/or 9-digit FEINs.
2. Keep **Also check officer exemptions** on if you vet construction subcontractors.
3. Run. Export to Excel, CSV or JSON, or call it from the API, Zapier or Make.

Tip: schedule a weekly run with your subcontractor list to catch cancellations early.

### Pricing

Pay per company checked. Lookups that fail because of a portal error are not charged.

### Good to know

- Insurance carriers have up to **21 days** to report new policies and changes to the state, so very recent changes may not appear yet.
- Name searches match names that *contain* your text. Use FEINs for precise results.
- A sole proprietor or officer **exemption does not cover employees**. Florida law still requires coverage for workers.
- This tool reads public records. It is **not affiliated with the State of Florida** and does not replace the official proof of coverage, the policy itself or advice from your insurance professional. Always confirm critical decisions with the carrier or the [official portal](https://dwcdataportal.fldfs.com/).
- Requests are sent one at a time with a pause, to keep the load on the state portal low.

# Actor input Schema

## `includeExemptions` (type: `boolean`):

Look up Certificates of Election to be Exempt (construction and non-construction) for each company.

## `delaySeconds` (type: `integer`):

Keeps the load on the state portal low. Minimum 1.

## Actor input object example

```json
  "companies": [
