## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Brazil CNPJ & France SIRENE Company Lookup API

**Brazil CNPJ and France SIRENE company lookup** API: get **legal name, registration status, legal form, CNAE / NAF activity, founding date, size, share capital, headquarters address and VAT number** from the **official open company registries** (Receita Federal via BrasilAPI, and INSEE SIRENE via the French government API).

### What does it do?

- Brazil: CNPJ lookup with check-digit validation (Receita Federal open data via BrasilAPI).
- France: full-text search or SIREN lookup in SIRENE (recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr), with department and active-only filters, intra-EU VAT number and GPS coordinates.
- One unified output schema for both countries.
- Privacy by design: no partners / directors (QSA, dirigeants), no CPF, no e-mail or phone; sole proprietors skipped by default.

### Use cases

- **KYB / supplier onboarding**: verify that a Brazilian or French company exists and is active.
- **CRM enrichment**: add activity code, size and address to company records.
- **Market research**: list companies by name or keyword in a French department.
- **Compliance**: check status changes on a schedule.
- **AI agents**: company lookups in one call.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$3.00 per 1,000 companys** plus $0.00005 per run start. There is no extra platform usage charge.

### FAQ

**Which sources does it use?** BrasilAPI (open-source mirror of the Receita Federal CNPJ open data) and the official French API recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr (SIRENE / INSEE, Licence Ouverte 2.0).

**Does it return partners, directors or CPF?** No. Only company-level data. Records of individuals (MEI, entrepreneur individuel, partially-diffused SIRENE records) are skipped unless you turn excludeSoleProprietors off — and even then no CPF, e-mail or phone is returned.

**Can I search Brazil by name?** No, Brazil works by CNPJ number; France supports name search.

**How fast is it?** About 3-5 companies per second (respecting source rate limits).

**Why is a CNPJ missing?** Invalid check digits or not found; see the run log.

**Can I schedule it?** Yes, to monitor status changes.

**Do I need a login or API key?** No. It uses the source's public API; you only need an Apify account.

**Can AI agents use it?** Yes. Call it through the Apify API, or from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client via the Apify MCP server.
