## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Eurostat Data Scraper – EU Statistics as Clean Rows

**Eurostat data scraper** that downloads **any Eurostat dataset** through the official dissemination API and flattens the JSON-stat cube into **clean rows with human-readable labels**: one row per country, period and dimension combination. Use it for unemployment, inflation, GDP, digital economy, tourism and thousands more EU statistics.

### What does it do?

- Any dataset code from the Eurostat data browser.
- Filter any dimension, plus countries and time periods.
- Every code comes with its label (`geo` + `geoLabel`, etc.).
- Observation flags (estimated, provisional…) and the last update date.

### Use cases

- **Content and SEO**: data-driven posts, charts and landing pages ("unemployment in Spain vs EU").
- **Market research**: e-commerce adoption, prices or tourism by country.
- **Automation**: monthly refresh of dashboards in Sheets, Notion or Airtable.
- **AI agents**: authoritative EU numbers for grounding.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `dataset` | Eurostat code. Example: une_rt_m (unemployment), prc_hicp_manr (inflation), isoc_ec_ibuy (online shopping) |
| `filters` | Dimension → value(s). Example: {"sex": "T", "age": "TOTAL", "unit": "PC_ACT", "s_adj": "SA"} |
| `geo` | Geo codes. Empty = all allowed. Example: ES, DE, EU27_2020 |
| `lastTimePeriods` | Example: 12 |
| `sinceTimePeriod` | Alternative to Last N. Example: 2024-01 or 2020 |
| `language` | Language of the labels. |
| `maxItems` | Example: 1000 |

Example input:

```json
{
  "dataset": "une_rt_m",
  "filters": {
    "s_adj": "SA",
    "sex": "T",
```

Export the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, read them through the API, or send them to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, n8n or webhooks. You can also run this Actor from AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$1.40 per 1,000 rows** plus $0.00005 per run start. There is no extra platform usage charge.

### FAQ

**Why are some countries missing?** Eurostat does not allow commercial reuse of data on countries outside the EU, EFTA and candidate countries, so those rows are dropped and the run summary says how many.

**Where do I find codes?** In the [Eurostat data browser](https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/), the code is shown next to each dataset.

**Do I have to credit Eurostat?** Yes, cite "Source: Eurostat".

**Do I need a login or API key?** No. It uses the source's public API; you only need an Apify account.

**Can AI agents use it?** Yes. Call it through the Apify API, or from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client via the Apify MCP server.

The tables excluded from commercial reuse are blocked in code: Comext datasets (`DS-…`, which hold Austrian 8-digit CN trade) are rejected, and Swiss/Liechtenstein rows are dropped from trade datasets.
