## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## IP Geolocation & ASN Lookup API – Bulk, RDAP Owner

**IP geolocation and ASN lookup** API for bulk lists: returns **country, region, city, coordinates, ASN and ISP / organization** from the **DB-IP Lite** databases, plus the **registered network, CIDR, owner organization and RIR** from **RDAP** — for IPv4, IPv6 and hostnames.

### What does it do?

- Geolocation: continent, country (ISO code, EU flag), region, city, latitude/longitude.
- ASN number and organization.
- RDAP (ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC, AFRINIC): network name, handle, range, CIDRs, type, registrant organization, registration and last-changed dates.
- Private / reserved IP detection; hostnames resolved via DNS-over-HTTPS.
- Databases bundled in the Actor: lookups are local and fast. No personal contacts from RDAP.

### Use cases

- **Security and fraud**: enrich logs, firewall hits or signups with country and ASN.
- **Analytics**: geolocate server logs in bulk.
- **Network research**: who owns an IP range and since when.
- **Ad-tech and compliance**: country-level targeting checks.
- **AI agents** that need IP context in one call.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `ips` | IPv4, IPv6 or hostnames (resolved to their first IPv4). Example: 8.8.8.8 |
| `includeRdap` | Query RDAP (regional internet registries) for network name, range, owner org and dates. Slower. Example: true |
| `maxItems` | Example: 1000 |

Example input:

```json
{
  "ips": [
    "8.8.8.8",
    "1.1.1.1",
    "9.9.9.9",
### Pricing
Pay per event: **$1.10 per 1,000 ips** plus $0.00005 per run start. There is no extra platform usage charge.
### FAQ
**How accurate is it?** City-level accuracy is that of DB-IP Lite (free tier, monthly). Country and ASN are very reliable; city can be off for mobile and VPN IPs.
**Does it detect VPNs or proxies?** No, it reports ASN/organization, which often reveals hosting providers.
**Is RDAP owner personal data?** We only return organization-type registrants, never person contacts, e-mails or phones.
**How fast is it?** Geolocation is local (thousands per second); RDAP adds ~0.5 s per IP (disable it for speed).
**How fresh is the data?** DB-IP Lite is downloaded when the Actor is built (monthly release).
**Can I schedule it?** Yes.
**Do I need a login or API key?** No. It uses the source's public API; you only need an Apify account.
**Can AI agents use it?** Yes. Call it through the Apify API, or from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client via the Apify MCP server.
