## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS Feed Scraper – RSS, Atom & RDF to JSON

**RSS feed scraper** that turns any RSS 2.0, Atom or RDF (RSS 1.0) feed into clean, unified JSON. Add as many feed URLs as you like, filter by keyword and date, and get deduplicated items. No login, no browser, no proxies, so it is fast and cheap.

### What does it do?

- Detects the feed format automatically: **RSS 2.0, Atom and RDF**.
- Gives every item the same shape: `title`, `link`, `source`, `feedUrl`, `publishedAt` (UTC ISO 8601), `author` (when the feed exposes it), `summary` (HTML stripped) and `categories`.
- Filters by **keywords** and by **max age in days**.
- **Deduplicates** items that appear in more than one feed.

### Use cases

- **News and blog monitoring** for brands, competitors and topics.
- **Content curation**: feed newsletters, Slack, Telegram or X bots.
- **AI agents and RAG**: get fresh, structured items for LLM pipelines and MCP agents.
- **SEO and AEO research**: see what publishers in your niche publish, and how often.
- **Automations**: schedule it and pipe results to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, n8n or webhooks.

### Input

| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| `feedUrls` | RSS, Atom or RDF URLs | `https://www.gov.uk/search/news-and-communications.atom` |
| `keywords` | Keep items containing any keyword | `["climate", "AI"]` |
| `maxAgeDays` | Only items from the last N days | `7` |
| `maxItemsPerFeed` | 0 = all items | `20` |

The example feeds have open licenses: GOV.UK content is published under the [Open Government Licence v3.0](https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/), and [Global Voices](https://globalvoices.org/about/global-voices-attribution-policy/) under CC BY 3.0.

### FAQ

**Which formats are supported?** RSS 2.0, Atom 1.0 and RDF / RSS 1.0, including the Dublin Core (`dc:creator`, `dc:date`) and `content:encoded` fields.

**Does it fetch the full article?** No. It returns only what the feed itself publishes.

**What if a feed fails?** The other feeds still run. Errors are listed in the `RUN_SUMMARY` record.

**Can I run it on a schedule?** Yes, with Apify Schedules. Use `link` to deduplicate across runs.

**Do I need a login or API key?** No. It reads public feeds; you only need an Apify account.

**Can AI agents use it?** Yes. Call it through the Apify API, or from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client via the Apify MCP server.

### Your responsibility

**You are responsible for complying with the license and terms of use of every feed you scrape.** Many feeds allow only personal use. Before you reuse or redistribute content, check each publisher's terms, and credit the source when the license requires it. This Actor is not affiliated with any publisher.

# Actor input Schema

## `feedUrls` (type: `array`):

RSS 2.0, Atom or RDF feed URLs. Make sure you are allowed to reuse each feed (check its license/terms). Example: https://www.gov.uk/search/news-and-communications.atom

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only items whose title, summary or categories contain at least one keyword (case-insensitive). Example: climate, AI

## `maxAgeDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only items published in the last N days. 0 = no date filter. Example: 7

## `maxItemsPerFeed` (type: `integer`):
