## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### AI Search Visibility Tracker (Google AI Overviews)

Find out whether Google's **AI Overviews** mention your brand, how often they mention it compared with your competitors, which sources Google cites, and where you rank organically, for any list of searches.

#### What you get, per query

- **AI Overview found:** yes or no.
- **Full AI Overview text:** the complete answer, including the parts Google loads after the page opens.
- **Cited sources:** the site and title of each source shown with the overview.
- **Per brand (yours and each competitor):**
  - whether it was mentioned, and how many times
  - its mention order (1 = mentioned first)
  - whether it was cited as a source
  - its first organic position
- **Top 10 organic results:** title, site and display URL.

At the end of each run you also get a **summary row** with each brand's AI Overview mention rate, **share of voice**, citation rate and average organic position across all your queries.

#### Why this one

- **Reliable and fast.** In our tests, 40 out of 40 queries succeeded in under a minute, and 39 of them returned an AI Overview.
- **Handles inconsistent overviews.** Google shows AI Overviews unpredictably. If none appears, the tracker looks once more before reporting "no overview". You can turn this off.
- **Built for brand tracking, not just scraping.** Share of voice and mention order come ready-made, so you don't have to post-process the text.
- **Cheaper than all-in-one AI brand monitors.** Similar tools charge $0.05–0.20 per check.

#### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `brand` | `HubSpot` |
| `brandAliases` | `["HubSpot CRM"]` |
| `brandDomain` | `hubspot.com` |
| `competitors` | `["Salesforce","Pipedrive","Zoho"]` |
| `queries` | `["best crm for small business","free crm for startups"]` |
| `country` / `language` | `us` / `en` |

#### Output example (query row, shortened)

```json
{
  "type": "query", "query": "best crm software for small business", "status": "ok", "hasAiOverview": true,
  "brands": [
    {"brand": "HubSpot", "isTarget": true, "mentionedInAiOverview": true, "mentionCount": 2, "mentionOrder": 1, "citedAsSource": false, "organicPosition": null},
    {"brand": "Pipedrive", "isTarget": false, "mentionedInAiOverview": true, "mentionCount": 1, "mentionOrder": 2, "citedAsSource": false, "organicPosition": 8}
  ],
  "aiOverviewSources": [{"site": "Reddit", "title": "Best and inexpensive CRM for small business - Reddit"}],
  "organicResults": [{"position": 1, "title": "The Best CRM Software for Small Businesses", "site": "Zoho", "displayUrl": "https://www.zoho.com › crm › ..."}],
  "aiOverviewText": "The HubSpot CRM is the best overall CRM for small businesses because..."
}
```

#### Pricing

Pay per event: you are charged once per query checked. Failed queries are not charged, and the summary row is free.

#### Notes and limits

- AI Overviews are personalised and change over time. Treat each run as a snapshot, and schedule it (for example weekly) to track trends.
- Brand matching is case-insensitive and whole-word. Use distinctive names and add aliases. A generic word such as "monday" can match unrelated text, so use "monday.com" or "monday CRM".
- Google's links are redirect tokens, so sources are reported by site name and title rather than by URL.
- This covers Google AI Overviews and organic results. It does not cover ChatGPT or Perplexity.
