## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Keyword Rank Tracker & Top Charts — iOS ASO

Two cheap ASO jobs in one actor, using Apple's own public endpoints (no login, no cookies):

- **Keyword rank:** for every app × keyword × country, where the app ranks in Apple's search results (top 200), plus the
top 3 apps for that keyword. Track yourself and your competitors with a daily or weekly schedule.
- **Top charts:** Apple's top free, top paid, top grossing (iPhone and iPad) and new-app charts for any country, optionally
for one category (Games, Photo & Video, Finance, ...). Up to 100 apps per chart.

### Output

**Keyword rank rows:** `keyword`, `country`, `appId`, `rank` (1-200, or `null` if not in the top 200), `inTop200`, `appName`,
`resultsChecked`, `top3` (appId, name, developer), `checkedAt`.

**Top chart rows:** `country`, `chart`, `genreId`, `rank`, `appId`, `bundleId`, `name`, `developer`, `price`, `currency`,
`category`, `categoryId`, `releaseDate`, `url`, `checkedAt`.

Invalid app IDs, empty charts and failed requests return an `error` row and are **not charged**.

### How rank is measured (read this)

Rank is the app's position in the **iTunes Search API** results for the keyword in that country's store, which returns up to
200 apps. That API is Apple's official public search endpoint. It tracks the App Store app's own search order closely but
**not exactly**, because the App Store app also personalises results and shows ads. Use it for trends (moving up or down over
time, versus competitors), not as a guarantee of what one user sees.

### Common category IDs

6014 Games · 6008 Photo & Video · 6015 Finance · 6007 Productivity · 6017 Education · 6013 Health & Fitness ·
6005 Social Networking · 6016 Entertainment · 6012 Lifestyle · 6002 Utilities · 6024 Shopping · 6023 Food & Drink.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$1 per 1,000 rows** (one keyword-rank check = one row; one chart entry = one row), plus Apify platform usage.
Example: 5 apps × 20 keywords × 2 countries = 200 rows = $0.20.

### Notes

- Apple rate-limits the Search API (about 20 calls a minute), so the actor makes one call every 3 seconds and backs off when
throttled. 100 keyword × country pairs take about 5 minutes.
- Pairs well with the [App Store Reviews Scraper](https://apify.com/forevertools/apple-app-store-reviews) for review monitoring.
- Not affiliated with Apple. Built and maintained with AI assistance. Report problems in the Issues tab and they get fixed.
