## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## W-2 2026 Overtime Premium (Box 12 TT) & Tips (TP) Calculator

2026 is the first year employers that paid FLSA overtime or received tip reports must show two new amounts on Form W-2, due **Monday, February 1, 2027**:

- **Box 12, code TT**: each employee's *qualified overtime compensation*, meaning only the FLSA-required **premium**: hours over 40 in a workweek × **half** the employee's regular rate. It is not total overtime pay.
- **Box 12, code TP**: the total cash tips the employee reported to you, with up to two Treasury tipped occupation codes in **Box 14b** (`000` when tips came from an occupation not on the IRS list).

Many payroll setups did not track the premium separately all year. Desktop payroll often needs it typed in by hand, and multiple pay rates or bonuses make the regular rate hard to get right. This Actor rebuilds the yearly numbers from your weekly payroll rows. You get one total per employee and a week-by-week audit trail you can keep with your records.

### What you get

- **One row per employee**: `box12_TT`, `box12_TP`, `box14b_ttoc`, weeks counted, weeks with FLSA overtime, overtime hours, `status` (`ok` or `needs_review`), and plain-language `flags`.
- **W2_TT_TP_SUMMARY.csv** and **WEEKLY_AUDIT.csv** in the run's key-value store. The audit shows every workweek: hours, regular rate, how the rate was computed, and the premium.

### How it calculates

| Situation | What the Actor does |
|---|---|
| One hourly rate | premium = (hours − 40) × ½ × rate |
| Several rates in one week (several rows with the same `week_ending`) | weighted-average regular rate = total straight-time pay ÷ total hours |
| Non-discretionary bonus, commission, shift differential (`nondiscretionary_bonus`, `commission`, `shift_differential`, `other_includable_pay`) | all such columns are summed into that week's pay before dividing by hours. A column named just `bonus` or `other_pay` is rejected as ambiguous: discretionary bonuses and overtime premiums do not belong in the regular rate |
| Tip-credit employees (`tip_credit_per_hour`) | regular rate = cash wage + tip credit (capped so the two do not exceed $7.25), so the premium is not understated |
| Paid double time, daily overtime, state or contract overtime | excluded: only weekly hours over 40 and only the half-time premium count |
| Exempt employees (`flsa_exempt` = yes) | premium 0 |
| Which W-2 year | the year the week was **paid** (`pay_date`); without `pay_date`, `week_ending` is used and late-December weeks are flagged |
| A week paid across two years | premium assigned to the latest pay date's year and flagged for review |

### Input

Paste CSV rows, or link a CSV or Google Sheet ("Anyone with the link can view"). Column names are flexible, and `$` signs and thousands separators are fine.

| Column | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| employee_id | yes | Employee number. Avoid names. |
| week_ending | yes\* | Last day of the FLSA workweek. \*Without it, each row counts as its own week. |
| hours_worked | yes | Hours actually worked in that workweek. Exclude PTO, holiday and sick hours. |
| hourly_rate *or* straight_time_pay *or* regular_rate | yes | `straight_time_pay` = all hours worked × their straight-time rates. Use `regular_rate` only if you already computed the FLSA regular rate. |
| pay_date | recommended | The date the week's wages were paid. Decides the W-2 year (December work paid in January goes on the next year's W-2). |
| nondiscretionary_bonus, commission, shift_differential, other_includable_pay | no | Pay that belongs in the FLSA regular rate for that workweek. Allocate multi-week bonuses across their weeks yourself. |
| tip_credit_per_hour | no | Tip credit taken per hour for tipped employees. |
| cash_tips | no | All cash tips the employee reported to you for that week. They are summed into TP. |
| ttoc | needed with tips | 3-digit Treasury tipped occupation code; `000` for an occupation not on the IRS list. Up to two codes are reported; `000` is kept when present. |
| flsa_exempt | no | yes/no |
| ot_hours_paid | no | Overtime hours you paid. Used only to flag overtime that is not FLSA-required. |

### Pricing

| What | Price |
|---|---|
| Employee summarized | $0.25 per employee with at least one computed week |
| Apify start fee | $0.00005 per run |

Employees whose rows cannot be read are **not charged**. A 12-person business pays $3.

### Limits (please read)

- This is a calculator, **not tax or legal advice**, and it does not prepare or file W-2s. You decide which pay is includable in the regular rate and which employees are exempt. Check the totals against your payroll records and the IRS 2026 Form W-2 instructions.
- TT is computed as the premium the FLSA **requires** for the hours and pay you enter. If the premium you actually **paid** differs (an underpayment, or a bonus true-up paid later), reconcile those employees by hand.
- Not supported: FLSA section 7(g)(2) overtime at the rate of the job worked, section 7(o) comp time (counted when used or paid out), section 7(j) 8/80 hospital schedules, section 7(k) public-safety work periods, section 7(i) commission exemptions, fluctuating-workweek plans, and retroactive bonus allocation. Exclude those employees, or check them separately.
- Weeks over 100 hours, rates below the federal minimum wage, a regular_rate given on only some rows of a week, tips without a Box 14b code, and missing rates are flagged `needs_review` or `error`, not guessed.
- The reporting rules come from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and IRS guidance for 2026; the deduction is scheduled to end after 2028.

### Privacy

Your rows are processed only inside your own Apify run. Results stay in your account's storage, and the Actor sends nothing anywhere else. Use employee numbers instead of names or SSNs.

### Support

Open an issue on the Issues tab with the run ID and a few anonymized rows.

# Actor input Schema

## `csvText` (type: `string`):

One row per employee per FLSA workweek (or per pay rate within a week). Required: employee_id, week_ending, hours_worked and hourly_rate (or straight_time_pay, or regular_rate). Strongly recommended: pay_date (decides the W-2 year). Optional: nondiscretionary_bonus / commission / shift_differential / other_includable_pay (all summed into the regular rate), tip_credit_per_hour, cash_tips (all cash tips reported to you), ttoc, flsa_exempt, ot_hours_paid. Use employee numbers instead of names.

## `csvUrl` (type: `string`):

Instead of pasting: a public CSV link or a Google Sheet shared as 'Anyone with the link can view'. Overrides the pasted rows.

## `taxYear` (type: `integer`):

W-2 year. A workweek counts in the year its pay was paid (pay_date; without it, week_ending).

## `includeWeeklyAudit` (type: `boolean`):

Save WEEKLY_AUDIT.csv (hours, regular rate, premium per workweek) in the run's key-value store.
