## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Company Hiring Signals do?

It tells you **how much any company is hiring right now**, straight from its own careers site. For each company you get open jobs, new jobs in the last 7 and 30 days, top departments, locations and countries, the seniority mix and the newest job postings with links.

You can also turn it around: give it a role and a place, for example `data engineer` in `usa`, and it **ranks the companies hiring most** for it.

The data comes from the [Jobs Database](https://apify.com/forgedata/jobs-database): 1.2M+ open jobs from 15,700+ company career sites on Workday, Oracle, Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Recruitee and Personio, refreshed every day.

### Why use it?

- **Sales teams:** companies that are hiring are growing and buying. Prioritize accounts by hiring activity, or find new ones that are hiring in your buyer's department.
- **Recruiters and staffing firms:** find the companies with the most open roles in your niche and pitch them.
- **Investors and analysts:** track hiring at portfolio companies and competitors.
- **AI agents:** one call answers "is Stripe hiring engineers in London?"

### How to use it

**Look up companies:** add company names, website domains or careers board names under **Companies**, for example `stripe`, `ramp.com` or `Notion`. You get one profile per company.

**Find companies hiring most:** leave Companies empty and fill in **Find companies hiring for** (job title words), **Locations** or **Departments**. You get employers ranked by how many matching jobs they have open.

### Example output

```json
  "openJobs": 412,
  "hiringLevel": "very heavy",
  "dataAsOf": "2026-10-30T08:20:00.000Z"
}
```

Numbers above are illustrative. Your results come from the live database.

### Good to know

- `hiringLevel` is none (0 open jobs), light (1 to 9), active (10 to 49), heavy (50 to 249) or very heavy (250+).
- New jobs are counted by the date the employer posted them.
- Seniority is read from job titles.
- Very large employers on Workday career sites are capped at 2,000 open jobs, so 2,000 means "2,000 or more".
- Companies whose careers site runs on a platform the database does not cover yet come back with `found: false`. Those are free.

### Instant API (Standby)

```
https://forgedata--company-hiring-signals.apify.actor/company?name=stripe&token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
https://forgedata--company-hiring-signals.apify.actor/companies?names=stripe,ramp.com&token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
https://forgedata--company-hiring-signals.apify.actor/top?keywords=data%20engineer&locations=usa&limit=10&token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
```

Same price as a normal run. Use it from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through the Apify MCP server too.

### Pricing

$0.01 per company profile ($10 per 1,000), however many jobs the company has: Stripe's 725 open jobs cost the same one cent as a company with 3. Companies that are not found are free.

### Is it legal?

It only uses job postings that employers publish on their public career sites, read from each platform's public job board feed. No logins, no cookies and no personal data.
