# Site Audit Preflight: what costs a site its leads (`freddy.universe/site-audit-preflight`) Actor

Audits a business website and reports what is costing it leads: placeholder contacts, traffic that never becomes a request, no booking path, missing LocalBusiness data, empty social previews. One verified audit per charge event. Deterministic, no LLM.

## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Site Audit Preflight

**Finds what is costing a business website its leads, and proves it with the page source.**

Most small business websites do not fail because of design. They fail because the
visitors never become requests: the contact form is missing, the phone number on
the page is a placeholder, the booking path leads nowhere, the map data is empty.
This Actor checks exactly those things and returns a structured, verifiable
report — no marketing language, no score out of ten, no invented suggestions.

One verified audit per charge event.

### What it checks

| Code | Severity | What it means for the business |
|---|---|---|
| `CONTACTS_NOT_REAL` | high | The site publishes placeholder contacts (555 numbers, `info@yourdomain`). Enquiries sent there reach nobody. |
| `NO_LEAD_CAPTURE` | high | The site tracks traffic but has no form: visitors leave no contact details. |
| `NO_ANALYTICS` | medium | No measurement tools: no way to know traffic volume, sources or best pages. |
| `NO_BOOKING_PATH` | medium | No booking button or calendar link: the customer has to leave the site to find a phone number. |
| `NO_LOCAL_BUSINESS_SCHEMA` | medium | Missing `LocalBusiness` structured data: the map profile and local search results stay incomplete. |
| `NO_SOCIAL_PREVIEW` | low | Missing Open Graph tags: the shared link shows no image and no description. |
| `NO_META_DESCRIPTION` | low | No meta description: search engines have to guess what the page is about. |
| `IMAGES_WITHOUT_ALT` | low | Images without alt text are invisible to screen readers and to image search. |
| `SITE_UNREACHABLE` | high | The URL could not be fetched (DNS, TLS, timeout, blocked request). |

### Input

```json
{
  "urls": "https://example.com, https://another-business.it"
}
```

`urls` accepts one or more public URLs separated by commas or newlines. Only
public pages are read: no login, no private areas, no personal data beyond the
contact addresses the site publishes itself.

### Output

One dataset item per audited website:

```json
{
  "url": "https://example.com",
  "ok": true,
  "httpStatus": 200,
  "finalUrl": "https://example.com/",
  "title": "Ristorante Demo",
  "summary": "2 rilievi: CONTACTS_NOT_REAL, NO_BOOKING_PATH",
  "publishedEmails": ["info@ristorantedemo.it"],
  "publishedPhones": ["+390900000000"],
  "placeholderContacts": ["555-555-5555"],
  "hasAnalytics": true,
  "forms": 0,
  "images": 14,
  "imagesWithoutAlt": 3,
  "gaps": [
    {
      "code": "CONTACTS_NOT_REAL",
      "severity": "high",
      "title": "I contatti pubblicati non sono reali",
      "detail": "Sono presenti contatti di riempimento (555-555-5555): le richieste che arrivano da li non raggiungono nessuno e il numero non e' prenotabile."
    }
  ]
}
```

The full report is also stored as the `AUDIT_REPORT` key-value store entry.

### Design notes

- **Deterministic**: plain HTTP checks on the returned HTML, no LLM, no guesswork.
  Every finding can be traced back to a string in the page source.
- **The same engine that sells the service**: the checks are identical to the ones
  used to produce the audit reports attached to commercial proposals, so the
  product and the method cannot drift apart.
- **No tracking of the audited site**: one request per URL, with an honest
  `User-Agent`. No crawling, no asset fetching, no forms submitted.

### Try it yourself

The same engine, running live, with no signup and no data collected:
**https://flow-audit.musarra-company.workers.dev**

Paste a site, the report comes out in seconds. It is the identical audit logic:
if a finding appears there, it appears in the Actor's output, and vice versa.

### Use cases

- Lead generation for web agencies and freelance developers: audit a prospect's
  site before the first call, and attach the report as proof of competence.
- Prioritised worklist for whoever maintains a set of local business websites.
- Pre-flight check before a redesign or before a Google Business Profile update.

### Changelog

#### 1.0

- Initial release: 9 checks, per-URL dataset output, `AUDIT_REPORT` store entry,
  one `site-audit` charge event per run.
