## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## MercadoLibre & Mercado Livre Price Tracker (5 countries)

**US$0.012 per listing checked + US$0.04 per run. Residential proxies in each listing's country are included; blocked pages, unreadable entries and removed listings are never charged.**

Monitor up to **1,000 Mercado Livre / Mercado Libre listings** in one run and get back, for each one: **price, old price, discount, stock, units sold, seller, reputation, Full and free-shipping flags, whether it holds the Buy Box (and who does if it doesn't)** and **what changed since your last run**. Works across **Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile**, mixed in the same list.

- **Up to 1,000 listings per run**, any mix of the 5 countries, by ID or URL.
- **8 fields compared with your last run** (price, old price, stock, status, seller, Buy Box, free shipping, Full), plus `previousPrice` and `priceChange` on every row.
- **Only-changes mode:** schedule it daily and get rows just for the listings that moved.

Built for **price-monitoring integrators, repricing tools, brands watching their resellers, and sellers tracking competitors**. Paste IDs or URLs, schedule it daily, and ask for **only the listings that changed**.

### What changed since the last run

This is what the actor is for. Take the listing in the example below (R$ 828 on its first run). If its price drops to R$ 788 and another seller takes the Buy Box before your next run, that run returns the same row with `price: 788`, `previousPrice: 828`, `priceChange: -40`, `isBuyBoxWinner: false`, the new winner in `buyBoxWinnerSellerName` and `buyBoxWinnerPrice`, `changed: true` and `changedFields: ["price", "isBuyBoxWinner"]`. With **Only return changes** on, a listing where none of the 8 tracked fields moved returns no row at all.

### What you get

One row per listing. Example from a run on the Apify platform (Mercado Livre Brazil, a listing inside a catalog product, first run). The row is shortened here: it also carries `title`, `url`, `condition`, `listingType`, `sellerId`, `freeShipping` and the other fields in the table below.

```json
{
  "ok": true,
  "itemId": "MLB6791634640",
  "productId": "MLB69797414",
  "country": "BR",
  "price": 828,
  "originalPrice": 1099.9,
  "currency": "BRL",
  "availableQuantity": 2,
  "soldQuantity": 3,
  "status": "active",
  "sellerName": "Minutobaby",
  "sellerReputation": "5_green",
  "isFull": false,
  "isBuyBoxWinner": true,
  "previousPrice": null,
  "priceChange": null,
  "changed": true,
  "changedFields": ["first-seen"],
  "inputValue": "MLB6791634640"
}
```

On the next run the same listing also comes back with `previousPrice` and `priceChange` (for example `-40` when the price dropped by 40) and the list of fields that changed.

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `itemId` / `productId` | The listing and, when it belongs to the catalog, the catalog product |
| `price` / `originalPrice` / `discountPct` | Current list price, crossed-out price and discount % (`price` is the standard price, before payment-method discounts such as Pix) |
| `availableQuantity` | Units in stock. `51` means "+50 available": the site caps the number it shows |
| `soldQuantity` | Units sold as the site rounds it (5, 50, 500, 1000, 10000...) |
| `status` | `active`, `out_of_stock`, `paused` or `not_found` (the listing no longer exists) |
| `sellerId` / `sellerName` / `sellerReputation` / `powerSellerStatus` | The seller of this listing; reputation looks like `5_green`; level is `platinum`, `gold`, `silver`... |
| `isOfficialStore` / `freeShipping` / `isFull` | Official store, free shipping and Fulfillment (Full) flags |
| `isBuyBoxWinner` | `true` if this listing holds the Buy Box of its catalog product, `false` if someone else does, `null` for listings outside the catalog or when **Check the Buy Box winner** is off |
| `buyBoxWinnerPrice` / `buyBoxWinnerSellerName` | Who is winning that product and at what price |
| `catalogOffersCount` / `catalogMinPrice` | How many new offers the catalog product has and the lowest price (Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile). `null` in Brazil: the site does not show it to anonymous visitors |
| `previousPrice` / `priceChange` / `previousAvailableQuantity` | Values from your previous run of the same listing |
| `changed` / `changedFields` | `true` and the list of fields that changed (price, originalPrice, availableQuantity, status, sellerId, isBuyBoxWinner, freeShipping, isFull). The first time a listing is seen it is `changed: true` with `["first-seen"]` |
| `error` rows | `{ "ok": false, "error": "...", "inputValue": "..." }` for entries that could not be read (`blocked`, `invalid-input`, `no-price`...). They are **never charged** |

### What you can paste

One entry per line, any mix of countries:

| You paste | What happens |
|---|---|
| `MLB5879370132` or `MLB-5879370132` | The listing is resolved once (a page load) and remembered in your account, so the next runs read it with a light request. If the ID is actually a catalog product ID (such as `MLB62391404`), the actor monitors whoever is winning that product |
| `https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-5879370132-...` / `https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-...` | Same as the ID |
| `https://www.mercadolivre.com.br/p/MLB54495903?pdp_filters=item_id:MLB5879370132` | A listing inside a catalog product: the cheapest path |
| `https://www.mercadolivre.com.br/p/MLB62391404` | A catalog product with no listing: the actor monitors **whoever is winning it** right now |
| `https://www.mercadolivre.com.br/.../up/MLBU...` | A product page that is not in the catalog |

Prefixes: `MLB` Brazil, `MLM` Mexico, `MLA` Argentina, `MCO` Colombia, `MLC` Chile. Duplicates are removed.

### Use cases

- **Repricing:** feed `price`, `isBuyBoxWinner` and `buyBoxWinnerPrice` into your repricing rules every morning.
- **Reseller and MAP watch for brands:** list your resellers' listings and get a row whenever one changes price or seller.
- **Stock-out alerts:** `availableQuantity` and `status` (`out_of_stock`, `paused`, `not_found`) tell you when a competitor or reseller runs out.
- **Competitor tracking across countries:** one list for Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile, same fields everywhere.

### How to use it

1. Paste your listings into **Listings to monitor**.
2. Leave **Check the Buy Box winner** on to see who is winning each catalog product (one extra light request per catalog product, shared between your listings of the same product).
3. Run it. Export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from your own system with the Apify API.
4. To track changes, run it again with the same account. The actor keeps the last values in a key-value store named `mercado-libre-price-monitor-state`. Turn on **Only return changes** to get rows just for what moved. If you run it from an Apify task, each task keeps its own history, so two tasks watching the same listing do not overwrite each other. Direct runs of the actor share one history.

| Input | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| `items` | array of strings | — (required) | Up to 1,000 IDs or URLs; duplicates removed, entries above 1,000 ignored |
| `checkBuyBox` | boolean | `true` | One extra light request per catalog product, shared by your listings of that product |
| `onlyChanges` | boolean | `false` | Return rows only for listings that changed; every listing is still checked and charged |

### Pricing

Pay per event: **US$0.04 per run** (`actor-start`), then **US$0.012 per listing checked successfully** (`item-checked`, US$12 per 1,000 listings). Pages that are blocked, entries that cannot be read, invalid entries, listings that came back without a price and listings that no longer exist (`not_found`) are **not charged**. With **Only return changes** on, every listing is still checked and charged, even when no row comes back, because the page had to be read to know it did not change. Residential proxies in the country of each listing are included, and the run respects the spend limit you set on Apify.

| Scenario | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| 100 listings | US$1.24 |
| 1,000 listings (the maximum) | US$12.04 |
| 1,000 listings every day for a month | ~US$361 |

### Run it from code

Replace `<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>` with your token from **Apify Console → Settings → API & Integrations**.

**cURL** (waits for the run and returns the items):

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/gangary~mercado-libre-price-monitor/run-sync-get-dataset-items" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"items": ["MLB5879370132", "https://www.mercadolivre.com.br/p/MLB62391404"], "checkBuyBox": true, "onlyChanges": false}'
```

**Python** (`pip install apify-client`):

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("gangary~mercado-libre-price-monitor").call(
    run_input={"items": ["MLB5879370132"], "checkBuyBox": True, "onlyChanges": True}
)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item.get("itemId"), item.get("price"), item.get("changedFields"))
```

**Node.js** (`npm install apify-client`):

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client.actor('gangary~mercado-libre-price-monitor').call({
    items: ['MLB5879370132'],
    checkBuyBox: true,
    onlyChanges: true,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items.filter((row) => row.changed));
```

The synchronous endpoint waits up to 300 seconds; for long lists start the run asynchronously and read the dataset when it finishes.

### Integrations

Daily monitoring is the main use, and it is built into Apify:

- **[Schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules):** run the same list every morning. Save the input as an Apify task and schedule the task, so its change history stays separate from your other lists.
- **[Webhooks](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/webhooks):** call your repricing system or alert endpoint when a run finishes.
- **[Make](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/make), [n8n](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/n8n) and [Zapier](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/zapier):** send the changed rows to Google Sheets, Slack, e-mail or a database.
- **[Google Drive](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/drive):** drop each run's export into a shared folder.
- **Exports:** JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML from the dataset, or straight from the API.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

Apify runs a hosted MCP server, so Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients can call this actor as a tool. Add this server URL to your client (it signs in with OAuth on first use, or send `Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>`):

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=gangary/mercado-libre-price-monitor
```

Then ask in plain words, e.g. *"Check these 20 Mercado Livre listings and tell me which ones lost the Buy Box and to whom."* Setup details for each client: **[Apify MCP server docs](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp)**.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Mercado Livre account or an API key?**
No. The actor reads the public listing pages, the same ones any visitor sees. No login, no token.

**Which price do I get?**
The listing's standard price. Extra discounts that depend on how the buyer pays (Pix, a specific card) are not applied, so the number is stable from run to run.

**Why is `availableQuantity` 51 and `soldQuantity` 1000?**
The site caps stock at "+50 available" and rounds sales to 5, 50, 500, 1000, 10000... The actor returns exactly what the site publishes. Small stocks (1 to 50) and small sales counts come back exact.

**What is a Buy Box?**
For catalog products, Mercado Livre shows one winning offer on the product page. `isBuyBoxWinner` tells you whether your listing is that offer; `buyBoxWinnerSellerName` and `buyBoxWinnerPrice` tell you who is.

**What happens when I paste the wrong catalog + listing pair?**
If the listing does not belong to that catalog product, the site returns a page without price or seller. The actor returns `error: "item-not-in-catalog"` for that entry and never invents data.

**What is a `not_found` row?**
The listing was removed or Mercado Livre redirected the ID elsewhere. It is returned (so you notice) with `status: "not_found"` and is not charged.

**Why do some entries come back `blocked`?**
Mercado Libre runs strong anti-bot protection. When a session gets blocked, the actor opens a fresh residential IP in the same country and retries the same page, up to 3 times. If it still fails, you get an error row and no charge. After 5 listings in a row are blocked, the actor stops and returns the rest of the list as `blocked` error rows, also free.

**With "Only return changes" on, why am I charged for listings that returned no row?**
Each listing has to be read to know that it did not change. You pay for the check, not for the row.

**Where is the history kept?**
In a key-value store named `mercado-libre-price-monitor-state` in your own Apify account. Each Apify task has its own history; direct runs of the actor share one.

**Can I cap what a run costs?**
Yes. The actor respects the **Max total charge** you set on the run and stops checking listings when the limit is reached.

### Honest limitations

- The full list of offers of a catalog product (every seller and price) requires a Mercado Livre login. **We do not deliver it.** You get the winner, the number of offers and the lowest price where the site shows them.
- In **Brazil**, the number of offers and the lowest price are not shown to anonymous visitors: `catalogOffersCount` and `catalogMinPrice` are `null` there. The Buy Box winner is delivered in all five countries.
- Stock is capped at 51 (`+50`) and sales are rounded by the site.
- The first time an ID is seen (not a URL) the actor has to resolve it with an extra page load, which is slower and uses more proxy traffic. The next runs reuse the remembered address.
- Listing status `paused` and `out_of_stock` are read from the page; a paused listing is often redirected by the site to another product, in which case it comes back as `not_found`.
- Up to 1,000 listings per run. For more, split the list across runs.

### Changelog

- **0.1.3 (2026-10-28):** first public release. Bare listing IDs resolve with a light request; a pasted catalog ID monitors whoever is winning that product.

# Actor input Schema

## `items` (type: `array`):

Up to 1,000 listings, one per line. Accepts a listing ID (MLB5879370132, MLM-3421917534), a listing URL (produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-..., articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-...), a catalog URL with a listing (/p/MLB54495903?pdp_filters=item_id:MLB5879370132), a catalog URL without a listing (/p/MLB62391404: monitors whoever is winning that product; a bare catalog ID such as MLB62391404 works the same way) or a /up/ URL. You can mix countries: Brazil (MLB), Mexico (MLM), Argentina (MLA), Colombia (MCO) and Chile (MLC). Duplicates are removed.

## `checkBuyBox` (type: `boolean`):

For listings inside a catalog product, also read the catalog page to tell whether the listing is the Buy Box winner and who is winning (price and seller). Costs one extra page load per catalog product, shared by all your listings of the same product. Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile also return the number of offers and the lowest price.

## `onlyChanges` (type: `boolean`):

Return a row only for listings whose price, stock, status, seller, Buy Box or shipping changed since your last run (the first run returns everything as a baseline). Every listing is still checked, and you are charged for every listing checked, even when no row is returned. State is kept in a key-value store named mercado-libre-price-monitor-state in your account. Each Apify task has its own history, so two tasks watching the same listing do not affect each other.
