## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

| `currency` | Local currency: MXN, ARS, COP or CLP |
| `installments` | Installment plan as shown on the card (e.g. "15 meses sin intereses") |

| `url` / `itemId` / `productId` | Canonical listing link and IDs — feed them to the reviews actor |

### How to use it

1. Choose the **Country**: Mexico, Argentina, Colombia or Chile.
2. Type search terms into **Search queries** exactly as a shopper would ("audifonos bluetooth", "freidora de aire") — up to 20 per run.
3. Set **Max items per query** (default 100, up to 1,000) — the actor follows the site's pagination until the limit or the last page.
4. Leave **Include sponsored ads** on to keep paid placements (marked `isAd: true`), or turn it off for organic-only results.
5. Run and export to CSV, Excel or JSON — or schedule it daily to track prices over time.

To compare countries, run once per country (one task per country works well with the Apify scheduler).

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small start fee opens a residential session in the chosen country, then a flat fee per **listing delivered**. Blocked pages, failed queries and invalid input are **never charged** — and every run respects the `maxTotalChargeUsd` budget you set on Apify.

| Scenario | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| 100 listings (1 query) | ~US$ 0.17 |
| 1,000 listings (1 query, max per query) | ~US$ 1.52 |
| 10,000 listings (10 queries) | ~US$ 15.02 |

### FAQ

**Is scraping Mercado Libre legal?**
The actor reads publicly listed search results — no login, no paywall bypass, and no personal data beyond the public store/seller name already shown on every listing card.

**Why do some queries come back `blocked`?**
Mercado Libre runs aggressive anti-bot protection. When a session gets blocked, the actor drops it, opens a fresh residential IP in the same country and retries the same page — up to 3 times. If it still fails, the query is abandoned with an error row and you are not charged for it.

**Is proxy included?**
Yes — residential proxies in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile are included in the per-listing price. Nothing to configure.

**What about Brazil?**
Brazil runs on a separate domain (Mercado Livre). Use the [Mercado Livre Scraper](https://apify.com/gangary/mercado-livre-search-scraper) for it.

### Honest limitations

- Mercado Libre itself serves at most ~2,000 results per search term — nothing can scrape deeper than the site offers.
- Per query this actor collects up to 1,000 items per run; for more volume, spread terms across queries (up to 20 per run) or schedule multiple runs.
- Ratings, sold counts and installments appear only when the listing card displays them.
- One country per run. Peru, Uruguay and other Mercado Libre sites are not supported yet.

Search terms exactly as a shopper would type them on Mercado Libre (e.g. "audifonos bluetooth"). Up to 20 queries per run.
