## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Website Contact Extractor — Email, Phone & Social Links

Turn a list of websites into a **contact sheet**: email addresses, phone numbers and social profiles (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, GitHub) — extracted from each site's **own pages**. The actor visits the homepage plus the most promising contact/about/team pages and pulls everything a human would find, at list scale.

No third-party databases, no stale data: what's on the site right now is what you get. Built for **lead enrichment, CRM hygiene, outreach list building** and agency prospecting.

### What you get

One row per website:

```json
{
 "website": "acme.com",
 "finalUrl": "https://acme.com/",
 "ok": true,
 "emails": ["hello@acme.com", "sales@acme.com"],
 "phones": ["+1 415 555 0132"],
 "linkedin": "https://linkedin.com/company/acme",
 "instagram": "https://instagram.com/acme",
 "facebook": null,
 "twitter": "https://x.com/acme",
 "youtube": null,
 "tiktok": null,
 "github": null,
 "pagesCrawled": 3,
 "error": null
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `emails` | Deduplicated, garbage-filtered (no image filenames, no tracker domains) |
| `phones` | From `tel:` links first (most reliable), then page text patterns |
| `linkedin` … `github` | First real profile link per network (share buttons ignored) |
| `pagesCrawled` | How many pages of the site were actually read |
| `ok` | `false` when the site didn't respond — those rows are **not charged** |

### How to use it

1. Paste domains or URLs into **websites** (no need for `https://`).
2. Optionally raise **max pages per site** (default 5) for deeper sweeps.
3. Run and export — the **Outreach-ready** dataset view gives you site + email + phone + LinkedIn in one clean table.

Feed it the output of a lead list (e.g. from a company-search actor) and your CRM gets contacts instead of naked domains.

### Pricing

Start fee + a fee per **site successfully processed**. Unreachable sites are free.

| Scenario | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| 25 sites | ~US$ 0.51 |
| 100 sites | ~US$ 2.01 |
| 500 sites (max per run) | ~US$ 10.01 |

### FAQ

**Where do the contacts come from?**
Only from the pages the business itself publishes — homepage, contact, about, team, impressum. That's data placed there to be found.

**Why did a site return no email?**
Some sites hide contacts behind forms or JavaScript rendering. The extractor reads served HTML (including `mailto:`, `tel:`, and obfuscated `@`/`%40` variants), but a contact that only exists behind a form can't be extracted.

**How is this different from buying a leads database?**
Fresher and cleaner: it reflects the site today, not a snapshot from last year — and you only pay for sites that actually responded.

### Honest limitations

- JavaScript-only sites (content injected client-side with no server HTML) may yield fewer contacts.
- Phone detection is pattern-based; unusual local formats can slip through — `tel:` links are always caught.
