## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Grants.gov Scraper – Federal Grant Opportunities & Alerts

Find **open and upcoming US federal grant opportunities** from the official **Grants.gov API**: deadline, award ceiling and floor, total funding, expected number of awards, eligible applicants, funding category, cost sharing, agency contact and the full description, in clean JSON, CSV or Excel.

Built for **grant writers, nonprofits, universities, cities, tribes and small businesses** who want a daily list of new funding they can apply for, without checking Grants.gov by hand.

No API key or login. **$2 per 1,000 opportunities** (details included).

### Features

- **Status:** posted (open), forecasted (coming soon), closed, archived.
- **Filters:** keyword, posted in the last N days, closing in the next N days, eligible applicant type (small businesses, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, cities, counties, states, school districts, tribes, universities, individuals...), funding category (health, education, environment, energy, agriculture, arts...), funding instrument, agency code, assistance listing (CFDA) number and minimum award ceiling.
- **Full details** per opportunity (one extra API request each, included in the price).
- **Alerts:** turn on *Only new opportunities* and schedule the Actor daily or weekly.

### Input examples

New opportunities from the last 14 days open to small businesses or anyone:

```json
{ "postedWithinDays": 14, "eligibilities": ["23", "99"] }
```

Health grants closing in the next 30 days with an award ceiling of at least $500,000:

```json
{ "fundingCategories": ["HL"], "closingWithinDays": 30, "minAwardCeiling": 500000 }
```

Keyword search, nonprofits:

```json
{ "keyword": "youth mental health", "eligibilities": ["12"] }
```

  "url": "https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/363779"
}
```
Forecasted opportunities add `estimatedPostDate` and `estimatedAwardDate` when the agency provides them. `awardCeiling`/`awardFloor` are `null` when the agency did not specify them.
### Notes
- Results come newest first. Grants.gov returns at most a few thousand results per search; narrow the filters for very broad queries.
- Application packages and attachments are not downloaded; use the `url` to open the opportunity on Grants.gov.
- Always check eligibility and deadlines in the official announcement before applying.
### Pricing
Pay per event: **$0.002 per opportunity saved** ($2 per 1,000) plus a tiny start fee. Set **Max opportunities** or a maximum cost per run; the run stops cleanly at that limit.
### Data source and terms
Grants.gov is the US government's official source for federal grant opportunities (managed by the Department of Health and Human Services). The data is public. This Actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by Grants.gov.
