## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Analyzer – Apps, Theme, Catalog & Contacts

**Shopify Store Analyzer** checks a list of domains and returns one row per store. Each row says whether the site runs on Shopify and gives its **theme**, its **installed Shopify apps** (Klaviyo, Judge.me, Recharge, Yotpo, Gorgias, Rebuy…), currency, languages and markets, **product count and price range**, **new products in the last 30/90 days**, Shop Pay, **emails, phones and social profiles**. It is built for Shopify app and agency sales teams, ecommerce lead lists, competitor research and market sizing. It costs **$3 per 1,000 stores**, and non-Shopify sites cost $0.10 per 1,000.

- Paste any lead list. Non-Shopify sites are flagged cheaply, so the list does not need to be cleaned first.
- HTTP only, with no browser, so it is fast and cheap.
- It reads only each store's own public pages: `/meta.json`, the homepage, the contact page and `/products.json`.
- It respects robots.txt and sends at most one request per second to each store.

### What you get per store

| Group | Fields |
|---|---|
| Shopify check | `isShopify`, `status` (`ok`, `NOT_SHOPIFY`, `PASSWORD_PROTECTED`, `RATE_LIMITED`…), `headless` |
| Store profile | `storeName`, `domain`, `myshopifyDomain`, `shopId`, `description`, `country`, `province`, `city` |
| Money & markets | `currency`, `moneyFormat`, `shipsToCountries`, `shipsToCountryCount`, `languages`, `marketRegions`, `internationalDomains` (expansion stores) |
| Theme | `themeName`, `themeCustomName`, `themeId`, `themeVersion`, `themeStoreId`, `isThemeStoreTheme` |
| Apps & tech | `apps`, `appCount`, `appEvidence` (why each app was detected), `unrecognizedAppScripts`, `trackingPixels` (GA, Meta, TikTok…), `technologies` |
| Checkout | `shopPayEnabled`, `shopPayInstallments`, `acceptedCardBrands`, `dynamicCheckoutButtons`, `plusHints` (heuristic) |
| Catalog | `publishedProductsCount`, `publishedCollectionsCount`, `productsScanned`, `catalogComplete`, `priceMin`, `priceMedian`, `priceAvg`, `priceMax`, `onSaleShare`, `avgDiscountPct`, `inStockShare`, `vendorCount`, `topVendors`, `productTypeCount`, `topProductTypes`, `topTags`, `newProducts30d`, `newProducts90d`, `updatedProducts30d`, `newestProductAt`, `oldestProductAt` |
| Contacts | `emails`, `phones`, `socials` (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, X…) |

Optional: one compact **product row** per scanned product (title, URL, vendor, type, price range, on sale, in stock, published date).

### Use cases

- **Shopify app and agency prospecting:** find stores that use a competitor app (`apps` contains "Yotpo") or that have no reviews app at all. Then contact them with the emails and socials in the same row.
- **Lead scoring:** rank stores by catalog size, prices, launch pace (`newProducts30d`), number of markets and the apps they already pay for.
- **Competitor research:** check a competitor's theme, apps, prices, discount depth and how often new products launch.
- **Enrich lists from other tools:** feed the Shopify domains from a tech-stack or lead export and get one clean row per store.

### Input example

```json
{
  "storeUrls": ["partakefoods.com", "allbirds.com", "example.com"],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 250,
  "includeProducts": false
}
```

- `maxProductsPerStore`: products read for the catalog stats. 250 means one request per store and 0 means the whole catalog. The total product count always comes from `/meta.json`.
- `includeProducts`: also output product rows. These are charged per row.
- `detectTechnologies`: adds 7,600+ open-source technology fingerprints on top of the built-in Shopify app signatures. On by default.
- `scanContactPage`: also reads `/pages/contact` to find emails and phones. On by default.

### Output example (trimmed)

```json
{
  "type": "store",
  "store": "partakefoods.com",
  "isShopify": true,
  "status": "ok",
  "storeName": "Partake Foods",
  "myshopifyDomain": "partake-foods.myshopify.com",
  "country": "US",
  "currency": "USD",
  "publishedProductsCount": 15,
  "themeName": "Partake (hasmerit.co)",
  "isThemeStoreTheme": false,
  "apps": ["Accessibly", "Bazaarvoice", "Consentmo", "Gorgias", "Klaviyo"],
  "appEvidence": {"Klaviyo": ["fingerprint", "script:static.klaviyo.com"], "Gorgias": ["script:config.gorgias.chat"]},
  "trackingPixels": ["Google Tag Manager"],
  "shopPayInstallments": false,
  "priceMin": 0.01, "priceMedian": 37.5, "priceMax": 210,
  "newProducts30d": 0, "newProducts90d": 4, "productsScanned": 15, "catalogComplete": true,
  "socials": {"instagram": "https://www.instagram.com/partakefoods", "tiktok": "https://www.tiktok.com/@partakefoods"}
}
```

A non-Shopify site returns `{"store": "example.com", "isShopify": false, "status": "NOT_SHOPIFY", "technologies": ["Cloudflare", "HTTP/3"]}`.
See `SAMPLE_OUTPUT.json` for real rows.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Shopify store analyzed (one full row) | **$0.003** ($3 / 1,000) |
| Non-Shopify site checked | $0.0003 ($0.30 / 1,000) |
| Product row (optional) | $0.0002 ($0.20 / 1,000) |
| Actor start | $0.00005 |

Failed stores cost nothing: rate-limited, blocked, password-protected, unreachable or robots-disallowed sites are free. Set a *Maximum cost per run* and the run stops cleanly when that limit is reached.

| Shopify store analyzers on Apify Store (Oct 2026) | Price per store |
|---|---|
| apivault_labs/shopify-store-analyzer | $0.015 |
| scrapebench | $0.01 |
| lergassy/shopify-store-intel | $0.005 |
| **This Actor** | **$0.003** |

### Limits and honest notes

- **Store discovery is not included.** You bring the domains. The tool does not search for "all Shopify stores".
- **Apps come from what the storefront loads.** Apps without a storefront script, such as back-office tools like ShipStation, cannot be seen by anyone from outside the store. App names come from a curated signature list plus webappanalyzer fingerprints. Unknown third-party scripts are listed in `unrecognizedAppScripts`, so you can check them yourself.
- **Plus hints are signals, not proof.** Shopify does not publish a store's plan. `plusHints` lists signals such as expansion-store domains in hreflang or B2B features.
- **Catalog stats cover the scanned products.** By default that is the first 250 products. `catalogComplete` tells you whether the whole catalog was read, and `publishedProductsCount` always gives the full total. "New products" uses each product's `published_at` date.
- **Headless stores** (Hydrogen or custom frontends) still get the profile and catalog, but theme and app detection is limited.
- **Rate limits:** some stores answer HTTP 429 to cloud IPs. The Actor retries with backoff and uses the Apify datacenter proxy by default. A store that still refuses comes back as a free `RATE_LIMITED` row.
- **Password-protected stores** come back as a free `PASSWORD_PROTECTED` row.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Shopify API key?** No. Only public storefront endpoints that every Shopify store serves are used.

**Can I feed it thousands of domains?** Yes. Use `maxConcurrency` (default 5 stores in parallel) and `maxStores` for a cheap test first.

**How do I get only Shopify stores?** In the dataset, filter `isShopify = true` or `status = ok`. You can also use the "Store analysis" view.

**Is this legal?** The Actor reads public pages that the store serves to every visitor. It obeys robots.txt and paces its requests. You are responsible for how you use contact data, for example GDPR and CAN-SPAM rules for outreach.

### Use with AI agents (Apify MCP)

You can call this Actor from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com). Pass `storeUrls` and the agent gets one structured row per store. It needs no scraping logic, browser or API keys. Example prompt: *"Analyze these 20 domains with gazidev/shopify-store-analyzer and list the Shopify stores that use Klaviyo but no reviews app."*

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Domains such as `allbirds.com` or full URLs. Any site is accepted: non-Shopify sites get a cheap `NOT_SHOPIFY` row, so you can paste a raw lead list. `https://` is added automatically and duplicates are removed.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

How many products are read from the public `/products.json` for the catalogue stats (price range, vendors, product types, new products in 30/90 days, share on sale). 250 = one request. 0 = the whole catalogue (slower on big stores). The total product count always comes from `/meta.json`.

## `includeProducts` (type: `boolean`):

Add one compact row per scanned product (title, URL, vendor, type, price range, on sale, in stock, dates). Charged per product row. Off by default: store rows are usually what you need.

## `detectTechnologies` (type: `boolean`):

Match the homepage against 7,600+ open-source technology fingerprints (webappanalyzer) on top of the built-in Shopify app signatures. Adds analytics pixels and the full technology list.

## `scanContactPage` (type: `boolean`):

Also read `/pages/contact` (or `/pages/contact-us`) when it exists. One extra request per store.

## `maxStores` (type: `integer`):

Process only the first N stores (0 = all). Useful for a cheap test of a long list.

## `respectRobotsTxt` (type: `boolean`):

Skip paths the store's robots.txt disallows and honour Crawl-delay (up to 10 s). Requests to one store are always at least 1 second apart.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many stores are analyzed at the same time. Each store gets one request at a time.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Per-request timeout. Failed and rate-limited (429) requests are retried with backoff.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify datacenter proxy is on by default because many Shopify stores rate-limit cloud IPs.
