## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US Business Entity Search & New LLC Leads – NY, TX, PA, CO, CT, OR

Get **newly registered LLCs and corporations** and **look up companies by name** in the official state business registries of **New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Connecticut and Oregon**, straight from each state's own open-data portal. Every row has the entity name, type, status, **formation date**, business address, county, **registered agent**, and where the state publishes them **officers / organizers**, **NAICS industry code** and **business email and agent phone (Connecticut)**.

- **$1.50 per 1,000 entities.** Cheaper than the Secretary of State search and new-business-lead Actors on the Store ($2–$5 per 1,000). Runs with no match cost nothing.
- **New-business leads.** *Formed in the last N days* gives you companies registered this week: the best moment to offer banking, insurance, accounting, payroll, web design, signage or office services.
- **Entity search / KYB.** Type a name and search six states in one run: status, formation date, registered agent and officers for vendor checks and due diligence.
- **Official sources, no scraping.** Data comes from each state's open-data API (Socrata): no SOS website scraping, no captcha, no API key, no browser.

### Coverage

| State | Source (official) | Records | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York | Department of State – Active Corporations (data.ny.gov) | active entities, updated daily | registered agent, chairman, county |
| Texas | Comptroller – Active Franchise Taxpayers (data.texas.gov) | ~3.5 M taxpayers, updated weekly | SOS file number, NAICS (when filed) |
| Pennsylvania | Department of State – Registered Businesses (data.pa.gov) | current entities, refreshed monthly | officers / organizers, county |
| Colorado | Secretary of State – Business Entities (data.colorado.gov) | all entities, updated daily | registered agent, mailing address, status |
| Connecticut | Secretary of the State – Business Registry (data.ct.gov) | all entities, updated daily | **business email, NAICS**, ownership flags (woman/veteran/minority-owned), principals, **agent phone & email** |
| Oregon | Secretary of State – Active Businesses (data.oregon.gov) | active entities incl. assumed names (DBAs), weekly | registered agent, authorized representative |

Florida (Sunbiz), Delaware and California do not publish their registries as open data APIs and are not covered.

### What can I use it for?

- **New-business lead lists:** every LLC formed in Texas, Colorado or Pennsylvania last week, filtered by city or ZIP.
- **Local services prospecting:** accountants, bookkeepers, insurance agents, banks, merchant services, web agencies, commercial cleaners.
- **KYB and vendor onboarding:** confirm a company exists, is active and see its formation date and registered agent.
- **Market research:** how many LLCs vs corporations are formed per month, by city or industry (CT NAICS).
- **AI agents:** *"is Blue Bottle Coffee LLC registered in Texas and Pennsylvania?"* (see below).

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Entity saved | **$0.0015** ($1.50 per 1,000) |
| Run start | $0.00005 |

| Actor | Monthly users | Price per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|
| **This Actor** | – | **$1.50** |
| whetstonetools/secretary-of-state-business-search | 54 | $2.00 |
| shelvick/business-entity-lien-search | 40 | $5.00 |
| pink_comic/us-business-entity-search | 25 | $2.00 |
| lergassy/us-business-filings | 23 | $4.00 |
| inexhaustible_glass/us-business-registry | 9 | $5.00 |

Competitor figures are from the Apify Store on 2026-10-06; coverage differs by Actor (some scrape SOS websites for more states). Set *Maximum cost per run* to cap spending; the run stops cleanly at the limit.

### FAQ

**How fresh is it?** As fresh as each state's open-data feed: NY, CO and CT daily, OR and TX weekly, PA monthly. The `source` field links to the dataset.

**Why no phone numbers for most states?** Registries do not collect business phone numbers. Connecticut publishes the registered agent's phone and email, and a business email. Combine the business name and city with our [Website Contact Finder](https://apify.com/gazidev/website-contact-finder) once the company has a website.

**Why does Texas show an out-of-state address?** Texas data comes from the Comptroller's franchise-tax file, which lists the taxpayer's mailing address (often the owner's or the registered agent's).

**Is this legal?** All data is published by the states themselves as public open data for reuse. This Actor only calls those official APIs. Officer and agent names are public record; if you contact people, follow CAN-SPAM, TCPA and other rules that apply to you. Questions: iletisim.ortalamabiri@gmail.com.

### Use with AI agents / Apify MCP

Ask *"list new LLCs formed in Denver this week"* or *"is ACME Holdings LLC active in Texas?"*. Through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com) (`https://mcp.apify.com?actors=gazidev/us-business-entity-leads`), Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients can call it directly. Over the API: `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/gazidev~us-business-entity-leads/run-sync-get-dataset-items`.
