## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Gold Price Scraper — Gold, Silver & Metals in Any Currency

Live **gold, silver, platinum and palladium** prices in **any currency** and **any weight unit** — per **troy ounce, gram, kilo and tola** — plus a **gold karat breakdown (24k / 22k / 21k / 18k / 14k per gram)**, which is what jewellery buyers in the **GCC and India** actually shop by. Optional **OHLCV price history**.

Built on Yahoo Finance's public endpoints (metal futures + live FX rates). **No API key.**

> ⚠️ Prices are for **informational purposes only** and are **not investment advice**.

### Why this one

Most "gold price" tools give you one number in USD per ounce. This one gives you the **whole picture**: every metal, every currency, every unit, and the **karat-per-gram** prices jewellery is actually sold by — ideal for GCC/India gold shoppers, jewellers, and fintech apps.

### What it does

- **Metals:** gold, silver, platinum, palladium.
- **Currencies:** USD, AED, SAR, INR, EUR, GBP, … (any Yahoo-supported currency).
- **Units:** per **ounce**, **gram**, **10 gram**, **kilo**, and **tola**.
- **Gold karats:** 24k / 22k / 21k / 18k / 14k per gram.
- **Change:** day change %, day high/low, previous close, 52-week range.
- **History:** optional OHLCV per ounce (and per gram) for a chosen range.
- Export to **JSON, CSV, or Excel**, or pull via the Apify API.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `metals` | Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium. |
| `currencies` | `USD`, `AED`, `SAR`, `INR`, `EUR`, … |
| `goldKarats` | Include per-gram karat prices for gold. |
| `getHistory` | Also fetch OHLCV history. |
| `historyRange` / `historyInterval` | History window and bar size. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional proxy (usually not needed). |

#### Example

```json
{
  "metals": ["gold", "silver"],
  "currencies": ["USD", "AED", "INR"],
  "goldKarats": true,
  "getHistory": false
}
```

### Output

One `spot` record per metal (with a `prices` block per currency), plus optional `ohlcv` history bars:

```json
{
  "resultType": "spot",
  "metal": "gold",
  "priceUsdPerOunce": 4361.3,
  "changePercent": 0.42,
  "prices": {
    "AED": {
      "pricePerOunce": 16018.4,
      "pricePerGram": 515.0,
      "pricePerTola": 6006.9,
      "karatPerGram": { "24k": 515.0, "22k": 472.1, "21k": 450.6, "18k": 386.3 }
    }
  }
}
```

### Use cases

- **Gold/jewellery shops & price boards** — 22k/21k per gram in AED/SAR/INR, updated on a schedule.
- **Fintech & apps** — embed live metal prices in any currency.
- **Investing dashboards** — spot + history for gold, silver, platinum, palladium.
- **Alerts & AI/RAG** — feed metal prices to a bot or an LLM.

### FAQ

**Where do prices come from?** Yahoo Finance metal futures (per troy ounce, USD) converted with live Yahoo FX rates. No API key.

**What's a tola?** A traditional South-Asian/Gulf gold weight — **1 tola = 11.6638 g**. Included alongside gram, 10-gram and kilo.
