## Pricing

from $0.70 / 1,000 account checkeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Instagram Followers Count Scraper

Get the **follower, following and post counts** of any list of Instagram accounts — hundreds at a time, in seconds.

No login, no Instagram account, no cookies, no API keys.

### What it's for

- **Influencer shortlists** — check the audience size of every creator on your list before you reach out.
- **Competitor benchmarking** — compare the reach of rival brands in one table.
- **Lead enrichment** — add audience size to a CRM list of brands or creators.
- **Reporting** — refresh the follower counts in a client dashboard on a schedule.

### What you get for each account

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `username` | `nasa` |
| `name` | `NASA` |
| `followers` | `104000000` |
| `followersExact` | `false` — see below |
| `following` | `94` |
| `posts` | `4963` |
| `profileImageUrl` | Link to the profile picture |
| `url` | `https://www.instagram.com/nasa` |

Real rows from a test run:

| Account | Followers | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| therock | 381M | 8,545 |
| arianagrande | 362M | 598 |
| natgeo | 268M | 32K |
| nasa | 104M | 4,963 |

### Exact or rounded?

Instagram shows logged-out visitors the **exact** follower count for accounts under 10,000 followers, and a **rounded** one above that (`104M`, `268M`). The actor returns exactly what Instagram publishes and tells you which you got with `followersExact`.

If you need exact counts on TikTok and Facebook too, or want to track growth over time across platforms, see the **Social Media Follower Tracker** by the same author.

### Input

```json
{ "usernames": ["nasa", "@natgeo", "https://www.instagram.com/nike/"] }
```

| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `usernames` | — | **Required.** Usernames, `@handles` or profile links. Duplicates are removed. |
| `maxConcurrency` | `10` | Accounts fetched in parallel. |

### Speed and cost

The counts sit in the first ~15% of an Instagram page, so the actor stops downloading there. Measured: **12 accounts in 5 seconds.**

### You only pay for accounts that load

Accounts that don't exist, links from other platforms and duplicates are never written to the dataset, so they are never charged. They are listed with the reason in `RUN_SUMMARY`.

### Limitations

- Counts of 10,000 and above are rounded by Instagram itself.
- Profile bios are not included — Instagram does not put them in the public page summary.

### Legal

Reads only what Instagram shows any visitor without logging in. You are responsible for how you use the data.

# Actor input Schema

## `usernames` (type: `array`):

Usernames or profile links, one per line. "nasa", "@nasa" and full Instagram profile URLs all work. Duplicates are removed automatically.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Each account is fetched through its own proxy IP.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Residential proxies are used by default.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "usernames": [
    "nasa",
    "natgeo",
    "https://www.instagram.com/nike/"
  ],
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
    ]
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `profiles` (type: `string`):

One row per account: name, followers (and whether Instagram shows the exact figure), following, posts and profile picture.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

How many accounts were requested and saved, and which ones failed with the reason.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "usernames": [
        "nasa",
        "natgeo",
        "https://www.instagram.com/nike/"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("getdataforu/instagram-followers-count").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
