## Pricing

from $1.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## PromptBase Trending Prompts Scraper (Apify Actor)

An Actor that fetches the top N items (1 to 10) from the **Trending Prompts**
list on [PromptBase](https://promptbase.com) via direct scraping (no official
API), and saves the results to the Actor's Dataset on the Apify platform.

### Input

Defined by `INPUT_SCHEMA.json`:

```json
{
  "numTrend": 5
}
```

| Field | Type | Description | Constraints |
|---|---|---|---|
| `numTrend` | integer | Number of trending items to fetch | 1 to 10, default 5 |

### Output

Each record pushed to the Dataset matches `dataset_schema.json` and contains
the following fields (most may be `null` if not provided by the site):

`title, slug, username, price, type, engine, domain, score, scoreDaily,
scoreWeekly, scoreMonthly, hotness, hovers, views, sales, favorites, rating,
cvr, featured, staffPick, nsfw, flagged, tags, image, created, updated`

Example record:

```json
{
  "title": "Cinematic Portrait Photography",
  "slug": "cinematic-portrait-photography",
  "username": "someuser",
  "price": 3.99,
  "type": "image",
  "engine": "Midjourney",
  "domain": "photography",
  "score": 98.5,
  "tags": ["portrait", "cinematic"],
  "image": "https://...",
  "created": "2026-01-01T00:00:00Z",
  "updated": "2026-06-01T00:00:00Z"
}
```

### Running locally

```bash
pip install -r requirements.txt
python scraper.py          # quick standalone test of the function
```

### Running as an Apify Actor

1. Place the files (`main.py`, `scraper.py`, `requirements.txt`, `INPUT_SCHEMA.json`,
   `dataset_schema.json`, `actor.json`) inside your Actor's folder on Apify
   (or use the Apify CLI: `apify init`).
2. Move `actor.json` to `.actor/actor.json`, `INPUT_SCHEMA.json` to
   `.actor/input_schema.json`, and `dataset_schema.json` to
   `.actor/dataset_schema.json` following Apify's project structure (adjust
   the paths inside `actor.json` accordingly).
3. Make sure `apify` is listed in `requirements.txt` (already included).
4. Push (`apify push`) or run locally:

```bash
apify run
```

Results will appear under the **Dataset** tab of the Actor run.

### Caveats

- The code depends on the stability of PromptBase's page structure
  (`id="ng-state"`); any change on the site's side may break the scraper.
- For heavy production use, consider adding retry/backoff logic for network
  errors, and make sure to respect the target site's terms of service.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("gim1377/promptbase-trending-prompts-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
