## Pricing

from $3.00 / 1,000 company results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Hiring Signals: find companies that are hiring right now

Find companies that are **actively hiring** for the roles you care about. Hiring Signals scans **600,000+ open jobs from 14,000+ company career sites** (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Workable) and returns **one row per company**: how many matching jobs it posted recently, where, in which departments, and links to the newest postings.

- **Input:** role keywords (e.g. `sales`, `machine learning`), countries, time window, minimum number of new jobs
- **Output:** one item per company: `newMatchingJobs`, `newMatchingJobsLast7Days`, `openJobs`, `hiringMomentum`, `topDepartments`, `topLocations`, `countries`, `medianSalaryMin/Max`, `careersUrl`, `sampleJobs`
- **Price:** **$3 per 1,000 companies** returned. No subscription.
- **Fresh:** the job index is rebuilt every night straight from company career sites, not from job boards.

### 🤖 Quick reference for AI agents

- Use this when the question is "which companies are hiring X (in Y)?", "who is expanding their sales team?", or "find companies hiring their first ML engineer".
- Main inputs: `roleKeywords` (array), `countries` (ISO codes like `["US","DE"]`), `windowDays` (default 30), `minNewJobs` (default 3), `maxOpenJobs` (e.g. 50 for startups/SMBs), `sortBy` (`newJobs`, `newJobs7d`, `momentum`, `openJobs`), `maxItems`.
- Each result is a company, not a job. For job-level results use [Job Search API](https://apify.com/gleanery_actors/ats-job-search).
- Runs take about a minute regardless of filters (the whole index is scanned).

### ✨ Why hiring signals

A company that just opened 10 sales roles needs sales tools, recruiters, office space and onboarding software. A startup posting its first data engineer is about to buy a data stack. **Job postings are the most public, most current buying signal there is.**

- **Straight from the source:** jobs come from each company's own applicant tracking system, so there are no reposted aggregator duplicates or expired listings.
- **Company-level, not job-level:** we do the counting and grouping. You get a lead list, not 10,000 rows to pivot.
- **Filters that matter for prospecting:** role, department, country, city, remote, company size (by open jobs), hiring momentum, watchlists and exclusion lists.
- **No personal data:** only company and job information. No names, no emails of individuals. GDPR-friendly.

### 🚀 How to use it

1. Enter **role keywords** for the jobs that signal demand for your product (e.g. `sales`, `account executive` if you sell sales tools).
2. Pick **countries** and a **time window** (30 days is a good default).
3. Set **minimum new jobs** to how strong a signal you want (3 = actively hiring, 10+ = scaling fast).
4. Optional: **max open jobs** 50 to focus on startups and SMBs, or **exclude companies** that are already customers.
5. Run it and export the companies to CSV, Excel, JSON, your CRM or Google Sheets.

### 💵 Pricing

**$3 per 1,000 companies returned** ($0.003 per company), on all Apify plans (Free to Diamond). You only pay for companies saved to the dataset.

| Run | Cost |
|---|---|
| 50 companies | $0.15 |
| 500 companies | $1.50 |
| 5,000 companies | $15 |

Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly credit, enough for about 1,600 companies a month.

### 💡 Use cases

- **Sales prospecting:** companies hiring SDRs and AEs need sales tools; companies hiring data engineers need data tools. Turn hiring into a lead list.
- **Recruiting agencies:** find companies with many open roles in your specialty and pitch them.
- **Investors and analysts:** track which startups are scaling, and which teams they're growing.
- **Competitive intelligence:** watch where competitors are hiring and which departments they're building.
- **Market research:** which countries and cities have the most demand for a role right now.

### 🔌 API and integrations

Run it from code with the Apify API or clients:

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("gleanery_actors/hiring-signals").call(run_input={
    "roleKeywords": ["sales", "account executive"],
    "countries": ["GB"],
    "minNewJobs": 5,
})
for company in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(company["companyName"], company["newMatchingJobs"], company["careersUrl"])
```

Schedule it weekly and push results to Google Sheets, HubSpot, Slack, Make, Zapier or n8n with Apify integrations. It also works as an MCP tool in Claude, Cursor and other AI agents via [Apify MCP](https://mcp.apify.com).

### ❓ FAQ

**Where does the data come from?** Public job boards hosted by Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters and Workable, i.e. the career pages companies run themselves. The index is rebuilt every night.

**How is "new" defined?** By the posting date the company's ATS publishes. Some large employers repost the same jobs regularly, which can inflate their counts; use `sortBy: momentum` or `maxOpenJobs` to focus on genuine hiring pushes.

**Why is a company missing?** It may use an ATS we don't index yet (e.g. Workday, Personio), or no jobs matched your filters. Use [Career Site Jobs Scraper](https://apify.com/gleanery_actors/career-site-jobs-scraper) for specific companies on other platforms.

**Does it include contact people?** No. We only return company and job data, no personal data. Pair the company list with your own CRM or enrichment tool.

**Why does Greenhouse show no departments?** Greenhouse's public board listing doesn't include departments in our index; role keywords and countries still work.

# Actor input Schema

## `roleKeywords` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs whose title contains one of these words (matched at the start of a word, any case). E.g. "sales", "account executive", "machine learning". Leave empty to count every job.

## `excludeRoleKeywords` (type: `array`):

Ignore jobs whose title contains one of these words. E.g. "intern", "senior".

## `departmentKeywords` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs in matching departments or teams, e.g. "engineering", "marketing". Greenhouse boards don't publish departments in the index, so this filter skips them.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs in these countries, as 2-letter ISO codes: US, GB, DE, FR, NL, ES, IN... Leave empty for worldwide.

## `locationKeywords` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs whose location contains one of these words, e.g. "Berlin", "London", "remote".

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Count only jobs the employer marks as remote.

## `windowDays` (type: `integer`):

A job counts as new if it was posted within this many days.

## `minNewJobs` (type: `integer`):

Only return companies that posted at least this many matching jobs in the time window. Higher = stronger hiring signal.

## `minOpenJobs` (type: `integer`):

Only companies with at least this many open jobs in total. 0 = no limit.

## `maxOpenJobs` (type: `integer`):

Only companies with at most this many open jobs in total, e.g. 50 to focus on startups and SMBs. 0 = no limit.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Track specific companies by name or board ID (e.g. "stripe", "Datadog"). Leave empty to scan all 14,000+ companies.

## `excludeCompanies` (type: `array`):

Skip these companies (name or board ID), e.g. existing customers or competitors.

## `atsPlatforms` (type: `array`):

Only companies on these applicant tracking systems. Leave empty for all.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

newJobs: most new matching jobs. newJobs7d: most new matching jobs in the last 7 days. momentum: highest share of the company's open jobs that are new (a hiring push rather than a big standing board). openJobs: most matching open jobs.

## `sampleJobs` (type: `integer`):

How many of the newest matching jobs (title, location, link) to include per company.

## `omitEmptyFields` (type: `boolean`):

Drop null and empty fields from each result.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of companies to return. You pay per company returned.
