## Pricing

from $1.20 / 1,000 job results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Wellfound Jobs Scraper: startup jobs with salary, equity & company data

**Wellfound Jobs Scraper** extracts startup job listings from [Wellfound](https://wellfound.com) (formerly **AngelList Talent**) by **role, location or remote**. It returns clean JSON, CSV or Excel with **salary and equity parsed into numbers**, the company's **website, industry, size, funding stage and investor badges**, and the full job description.

Use it to build a startup job board or newsletter, benchmark tech salaries and equity, find **fast-growing startups that are hiring** for sales prospecting, or feed AI agents with fresh job data.

👉 **Try it in 30 seconds:** keep the prefilled input ("software engineer", 20 jobs) and click **Start**. That's about 4 cents.

### 🤖 Quick reference for AI agents

- **Actor ID:** `gleanery_actors/wellfound-jobs-scraper`. MCP: `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=gleanery_actors/wellfound-jobs-scraper`
- **Use it when** you need startup jobs, startup salary or equity data, or a list of funded startups that are hiring.
- **Minimal input:** `{"roles": ["software engineer"], "maxItems": 50}`
- **Useful inputs:** `roles`, `locations` (e.g. `"berlin"`), `remoteOnly`, `minSalary` (yearly, in the job's currency), `onlyWithEquity`, `companyStages` (`seed`/`early`/`growth`/`scale`), `postedWithinDays`, `maxItems` (caps the cost)
- **Output:** one item per job: `title`, `url`, `companyName`, `companyWebsite`, `companyStage`, `companySize`, `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`, `equityMin`, `equityMax`, `remote`, `locations`, `postedAt`, `description`
- **Save context tokens:** set `"descriptionFormat": "none"` (or `"descriptionMaxLength": 500`) and `"omitEmptyFields": true`
- **Cost and speed:** $0.002 per job; 50 jobs in about 10 seconds. Filtered-out jobs are never charged.
- **No Apify account?** Agents can pay per use with x402 or MPP through [agi.apify.com](https://agi.apify.com).

### ✨ Why this Wellfound scraper

- 💰 **Salary & equity as numbers**: `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`, `salaryPeriod`, `equityMin`, `equityMax`. No string parsing needed.
- 🏢 **Company data included at no extra cost**: website, industry, HQ, size, stage (Seed/Early/Growth/Scale), B2B flag, top-investor badge, "actively hiring" badge
- 🔁 **Incremental mode**: scheduled runs return only **new or changed jobs** and charge only for those, typically saving 80–95% on daily monitoring
- 🎯 **15+ filters**: keywords, excluded keywords, locations to exclude, job type, max years of experience, minimum salary, salary or equity required, company size, company stage, company allow/deny lists, posted within N days. **Filtered-out jobs are never charged.**
- 🤖 **AI-agent friendly**: markdown or plain-text descriptions, a length cap, and an omit-empty-fields option for compact JSON
- ⚡ **Fast and reliable**: no browser and no login. Hundreds of jobs per minute.
- 💵 **Simple pricing**: **$2 per 1,000 jobs**, cheaper on paid Apify plans, with **no start fee and no monthly rental**

1. Enter one or more **roles** (e.g. `software engineer`, `product manager`) and optionally **locations** (e.g. `berlin`, `new york`), or switch on **Remote only**.
2. Add filters if you need them, such as `minSalary`, `onlyWithEquity`, `companyStages` or `postedWithinDays`.
3. Set **Max jobs to save** to cap your cost, then click **Start**.
4. Download the results as **JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML**, or get them through the API.

You can also paste any Wellfound listing URL into **Wellfound listing URLs**, for example `https://wellfound.com/role/l/data-scientist/london`.

### 💵 How much does it cost to scrape Wellfound?

You pay **per job saved**. There is no start fee, no monthly rental, and no charge for jobs your filters remove.

| Apify plan | Price per 1,000 jobs |
|---|---|
| Free | $2.00 |
| Bronze | $1.80 |
| Silver | $1.50 |
| Gold and above | $1.20 |

| Example | Jobs | Cost (Free plan) |
|---|---|---|
| Quick test | 20 | $0.04 |
| All remote software-engineering jobs | ~1,900 | ~$3.80 |
| Daily new-jobs feed for one city (incremental) | ~20 per day | ~$1.20 per month |

Apify's free plan includes **$5 of monthly credit**, enough for about 2,500 jobs a month at no cost.

### 🔁 Monitor new Wellfound jobs (incremental mode)

Turn on **Only new or changed jobs** and schedule the actor (for example daily) in Apify **Schedules**:

- The **first run** saves every matching job as a baseline.
- **Later runs** save only jobs that are **NEW** or **UPDATED** (title, pay, locations or description changed). Unchanged jobs are skipped and **not charged**.
- Each saved job carries `changeType`, so you know what happened.
- Use **State key** to give the monitor a name. Runs with the same key share memory even if you tweak other inputs.

Combine it with Apify **integrations** to get new jobs straight into Slack, email, Google Sheets, Airtable, Make, Zapier or n8n.

### 💡 Use cases

- **Job boards and newsletters:** a daily feed of fresh startup jobs, with salary, equity and remote info already structured.
- **Recruiters and talent teams:** track which startups are hiring for which roles, and at what pay.
- **Sales prospecting:** startups that are hiring have budget. Export the *Hiring companies* view with website, size, stage and industry, and push it to your CRM.
- **Salary and equity benchmarking:** compare compensation by role, city, company stage and size.
- **Investors and analysts:** spot hiring momentum across startups and sectors.
- **AI agents and RAG:** compact, clean job data for LLM pipelines (markdown descriptions, length cap).

### 🔌 Use it via API, integrations or AI agents

**API (cURL):** run the actor and get the results in one call:

```bash
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"roles":["software engineer"],"remoteOnly":true,"maxItems":50}'
```

**Python:**

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("gleanery_actors/wellfound-jobs-scraper").call(run_input={
    "roles": ["product manager"], "locations": ["london"], "maxItems": 100,
})
for job in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(job["title"], job["companyName"], job["salaryMin"], job["salaryMax"])
```

**JavaScript / Node.js:**

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: 'YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN' });
const run = await client.actor('gleanery_actors/wellfound-jobs-scraper').call({
    roles: ['data scientist'], remoteOnly: true, maxItems: 100,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

**AI agents (MCP):** connect Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com) and ask, for example: *"Find remote seed-stage startup jobs for ML engineers that offer equity."* The agent can call this actor as a tool.

### ❓ FAQ

**Is Wellfound the same as AngelList Talent?**
Yes. AngelList Talent was renamed Wellfound in 2022. This actor scrapes wellfound.com.

**How many jobs can I get?**
Wellfound shows up to about 46 pages (roughly 900 startups) per listing. For a broad market, split it into several roles and/or locations. The actor deduplicates across all of them.

**Do I need a Wellfound account, cookies or a proxy?**
No. The actor reads public listings only. A proxy is optional.

**How fresh is the data?**
It is scraped live on every run. `postedAt` shows when each job went live.

**Why are some salary or company fields empty?**
Not every startup publishes a salary, equity or website. Fields are `null` when Wellfound doesn't show them. Use `onlyWithSalary` or `onlyWithEquity` to keep only complete listings.

**Is scraping Wellfound legal?**
The actor collects only publicly available job and company information, with no personal data about candidates or recruiters. You are responsible for using the data in line with Wellfound's terms and the laws that apply to you, such as the GDPR.

**Can I export to Google Sheets or Excel?**
Yes. Download CSV or Excel from the run, or use the Google Sheets integration.

# Actor input Schema

## `roles` (type: `array`):

Wellfound job roles to search, in plain words: "software engineer", "product manager", "data scientist", "product designer", "marketing", "sales", "devops engineer"… Each role is searched separately and results are deduplicated. Leave empty to search all roles.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Cities or countries in plain words: "san francisco", "new york", "london", "berlin", "bangalore", "united states", "germany". Every role × location pair is searched. Ignored when Remote only is on.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Search Wellfound's remote listings instead of a location.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional. Paste Wellfound listing URLs directly, e.g. https://wellfound.com/role/l/software-engineer/berlin, https://wellfound.com/role/r/data-scientist or https://wellfound.com/location/london.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after saving this many jobs. This caps your cost: at $2 per 1,000 jobs, 500 jobs cost $1.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only jobs whose title, role or description contains at least one of these, e.g. "python", "react", "llm", "fintech". Case-insensitive.

## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs whose title or role contains any of these, e.g. "senior", "staff", "intern", "manager".

## `excludeLocations` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs located only in these places (substring match), e.g. "india" drops "Bangalore, India".

## `jobTypes` (type: `array`):

Keep only these employment types. Leave empty for all.

## `maxYearsExperience` (type: `integer`):

Keep jobs that require at most this many years of experience (e.g. 2 for junior roles). Jobs that don't state experience are kept.

## `minSalary` (type: `integer`):

Keep jobs whose maximum salary is at least this amount (in the job's own currency, yearly). Jobs without salary info are dropped when set. 0 = off.

## `onlyWithSalary` (type: `boolean`):

Drop jobs that don't publish a salary range.

## `onlyWithEquity` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only jobs that publish an equity range.

## `companySizes` (type: `array`):

Keep only startups of these sizes (employees). Leave empty for all.

## `companyStages` (type: `array`):

Keep only startups at these stages, as labelled by Wellfound. Leave empty for all.

## `includeCompanies` (type: `array`):

Keep only jobs from these companies (name or Wellfound slug).

## `excludeCompanies` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs from these companies (name or Wellfound slug).

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only jobs posted in the last N days. 0 = any time.

## `onlyNewOrUpdated` (type: `boolean`):

For scheduled runs: return only jobs that are new or changed since the previous run with the same input (or State key). The first run saves everything as a baseline. Unchanged jobs are skipped and not charged, which typically saves 80–95% on daily monitoring. Each saved job gets changeType NEW or UPDATED.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Optional name for the incremental state, e.g. "berlin-engineers". Runs with the same key share memory even if you tweak the input. Leave empty to derive it from the input.

## `enrichDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Opens each job page to add the company website, industry, HQ locations, benefits, salary period, direct-apply flag and applicant location requirements. Included in the price, but runs take a bit longer.

## `descriptionFormat` (type: `string`):

Markdown keeps headings and bullets (best for LLMs), Plain text strips formatting (best for spreadsheets), None leaves the description out.

## `descriptionMaxLength` (type: `integer`):

Cut descriptions to this many characters to save LLM tokens or spreadsheet space. 0 = full length.

## `omitEmptyFields` (type: `boolean`):

Leave out fields that are null or empty, for compact JSON (handy for AI agents). Keep off for consistent CSV/Excel columns.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed in normal use. Turn on Apify Proxy if you run very large or very frequent scrapes.
