## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Kick Streams Scraper

**Kick scraper for channel profiles, live streams and categories, with no login and no API key.** Get Kick channel profiles with live status, the live-stream directory filtered by language and category, and the full category list with current viewer counts. It uses Kick's public JSON API endpoints, with no headless browser, so runs are fast and you pay per result.

### What you can do with it

- **Streamer monitoring** — pass a list of channel slugs, get `is_live`, `viewers`, `title`, `category`, `followers` per channel. Schedule it and diff for go-live alerts or follower growth.
- **Market research / sponsorship scouting** — browse live streams by language (`English`, `Spanish`, `Portuguese`, `Japanese`…) or category (`just-chatting`, `slots-casino`, `grand-theft-auto-v`) and rank by viewers.
- **Category trends** — pull all categories with current viewers, run daily, chart which games/IRL niches grow on Kick.
- **Creator socials** — Instagram, X, YouTube, Discord, TikTok handles from channel profiles for outreach lists.
- **Automated alerts** — Schedule it on Apify and pipe results to Google Sheets, Slack, n8n or Make via the Apify integration.
- **Go-live tracking for a roster** — run `channels` mode every few minutes for the streamers you manage and log `started_at` and peak `viewers` per stream.

### Output example

Mode `channels`:

```json
{
  "type": "channel",
  "slug": "xqc",
  "name": "xQc",
  "url": "https://kick.com/xqc",
  "exists": true,
  "is_live": true,
  "viewers": 41230,
  "followers": 1466659,
  "title": "GTA V NOPIXEL",
  "category": "Grand Theft Auto V (GTA)",
  "category_slug": "grand-theft-auto-v",
  "language": "English",
  "started_at": "2026-10-31 22:33:21",
  "is_mature": false,
  "verified": true,
  "is_banned": false,
  "bio": "THE BEST AT ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.",
  "profile_pic": "https://files.kick.com/images/user/676/profile_image/...",
  "thumbnail": "https://images.kick.com/video_thumbnails/.../1080.webp",
  "socials": { "instagram": "xqcow1", "twitter": "xqc", "youtube": "xqcow", "discord": "xqc", "tiktok": null, "facebook": null },
  "tags": []
}
```

Mode `livestreams` rows have `type: "livestream"` (same columns, `followers`/`socials` null). Mode `categories` rows have `type: "category"` with `viewers` = current viewers across the category and `category` = parent (Games / IRL / Gambling …).

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `mode` | `channels` (default), `livestreams`, `categories` |
| `channels` | Channel slugs or `kick.com/<slug>` URLs. Mode `channels`. Unknown slug → `exists: false`. |
| `language` | Mode `livestreams`. Language name (`English`, `Japanese`…), empty = all. Filtered client-side while walking the viewer-sorted directory, so rare languages need more pages. |
| `subcategory` | Mode `livestreams`. Category slug filter, empty = all. |
| `maxItems` | Stop after N rows. Default 100. |

### Pricing

Pay per item: one event per dataset row. No charge for rows that are never produced.

### Notes

- Kick returns `is_live` and `viewers` from its directory, which lags live state by ~1 minute.
- Live-stream browsing is sorted by viewers descending, so `maxItems: 50` gives the top 50 for that language/category.

### FAQ

#### Do I need an API key or account?

No. It only calls Kick's public JSON endpoints that the website itself uses, without logging in. Very frequent runs may be rate-limited by Kick, so schedule at sensible intervals.

#### How much does it cost?

$0.002 per result and nothing else: with pay-per-event pricing you are not billed for Apify compute. 100 results cost $0.20, and the Apify free plan's $5 monthly credit covers about 2,500 results. Rows that are never produced are never charged.

#### How do I get the data into Google Sheets or my app?

Export the run's dataset as CSV, JSON or Excel from the Apify Console, read it from the dataset API endpoint, or connect it to Google Sheets, Slack, n8n, Make or Zapier with Apify integrations.

#### Is it legal to scrape Kick?

It only reads public data via the platform's public API and respects rate limits. You are responsible for complying with Kick's terms and applicable law.

#### How fresh are the live status and viewer numbers?

`is_live` and `viewers` come from Kick's directory, which lags the actual live state by about a minute. Live streams are sorted by viewers descending, so `maxItems: 50` gives the top 50 for the chosen language or category.
