## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

This Actor extracts the public related/recommended extension cards exposed on each seed Chrome Web Store listing. A normal row represents one seed extension and preserves the observed relationship evidence: recommendation section, rank, card text, title, rating/user/version signals, related IDs, and the method statement that the data is observed from the source page rather than inferred by a semantic model.

The seed record is expanded with canonical identity, full description and Overview text, category, publisher contacts and address, trader status, ratings/reviews/users, version/update precision, size, languages, features, policy/website/support links, screenshots, related IDs, and version history. Aggregate recommendation metrics include section counts, rank list, title list, rating/user totals, coverage counts, and the top recommendation.

### Inputs

Use `extensionIds` for known IDs, or provide `startUrls`, `sourceUrls`, or `urls` with official Chrome Web Store detail, search, or category URLs. `queries`, `query`, `searchQuery`, and `category` support discovery. `maxItems`, `maxRequests`, and `maxDetailRequests` bound collection. Only the first public listing batch is supported, so `page` and `maxPages` are fixed at `1`.

Only public Chrome Web Store pages are in scope. The Actor does not sign in, solve CAPTCHA challenges, use private publisher data, or invent recommendations not exposed on the listing. Recommendation cards are extracted only from a recognized Related/Similar section; unrelated extension links elsewhere on a listing are excluded.

### Output

The dataset and run summary are available in the Output tab. You can download dataset records in formats such as JSON, HTML, CSV, or Excel.

# Actor input Schema

## `extensionId` (type: `string`):

One 32-character public Chrome extension ID.

## `extensionIds` (type: `array`):

Public Chrome extension IDs to inspect. Each ID is resolved through the public search listing to its canonical detail URL.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Public Chrome Web Store detail, search, or category URLs. Slugless extension detail URLs are resolved through public search.

## `sourceUrls` (type: `array`):

Alias for startUrls.

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Alias for startUrls.

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Public Chrome Web Store search terms.

## `query` (type: `string`):

One search term.

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Alias for query.

## `category` (type: `string`):

Optional Chrome Web Store category slug.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

Accepted for compatibility with locale-aware callers.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Alias for locale.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of seed extension records.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Chrome Web Store search exposes additional results through a dynamic Load more control. This Actor currently processes only the first listing batch.

## `maxRequests` (type: `integer`):

Maximum direct public page requests.

## `maxDetailRequests` (type: `integer`):

Maximum seed extension detail pages to inspect.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Maximum wait for each public request.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Alias for requestTimeoutSecs.

## `requestTimeoutMs` (type: `integer`):

Millisecond form of the request timeout.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Delay between public requests.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Maximum retry attempts for failed requests.

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

Optional ordinary browser user agent.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Accepted for compatibility; this Actor currently makes direct HTTP requests and does not apply proxy settings.

## `page` (type: `integer`):

Only the first public Chrome Web Store listing batch is currently supported.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("googleapi/chrome-extension-similar-extensions-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
