## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Collect public business information shown on Google Maps. Search for businesses or provide Maps URLs for search results and individual profiles. Use it to build a local-business list, compare visible business details, or collect public profile information for research.

### How to use

1. Enter a search phrase or phrases, or provide Maps URLs in `startUrls`.
2. Set the result, page, and optional filters.
3. Enable `includeProfileDetails` if you want additional public information from each selected business profile.
4. Run the Actor and view or export the business records from the dataset.

Example:

```json
{
  "queries": ["coffee shops in Seattle"],
  "maxItems": 25,
  "maxPages": 3,
  "minRating": 4,
  "sortBy": "rating_desc",
  "includeProfileDetails": true
}
```

### Input

| Input | Description | Default |
|---|---|---:|
| `q` / `queries` | One or more public Maps search phrases. `searchQuery` and `searchKeywords` are aliases. | — |
| `startUrls` | Public Maps search or business-profile URLs. `sourceUrls`, `urls`, `url`, and `sourceUrl` are aliases. Supplied URLs take precedence over searches. | — |
| `maxItems` | Maximum business records across the run (1–5,000). `maxResults` is an alias. | 100 |
| `page` / `maxPages` | Starting result-feed section and maximum scroll rounds per source. | 1 / 5 |
| `deduplicate` | Keep one result per Google Place ID across sources. | `true` |
| `keyword` | Keep listings whose public name, category, or address contains this text. | — |
| `minRating` | Keep businesses at or above this public rating (0–5). | — |
| `minReviewCount` | Keep businesses with at least this many public reviews. | — |
| `sortBy` | Order by source, name, rating, or review count. | `source` |
| `includeImages` | Include public Google-hosted business photo URLs. | `true` |
| `includeProfileDetails` | Visit selected business profiles for additional public details. | `false` |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional Apify Proxy configuration for Maps pages. | — |

Direct profile URLs are read as business profiles even when `includeProfileDetails` is disabled. Search result profiles are visited only when details are enabled.

### Output

Each dataset row represents a business and includes the required `placeId`, `name`, and `canonicalUrl` fields. Available fields are grouped below:

- **Identity and category:** Google Maps identifiers, business names, primary and additional categories, and sponsored status when displayed.
- **Location and contact:** full address and components, coordinates, phone, website, domain, and Plus Code.
- **Reputation:** rating, review count, rating distribution, Google’s review summary, and displayed price range.
- **Hours and popularity:** current open status, weekly opening hours, and popular-times information for the weekday shown.
- **Public review preview:** up to ten visible review cards in the profile, with review text, displayed dates, ratings, and limited public context. This is not a complete review-history export.
- **Profile details:** description, menu and booking links, owner updates, public photos, service and accessibility attributes, and related businesses when shown.

Optional details vary by listing and by what Google Maps displays. Plus-formatted photo counts retain their displayed text, such as `4,024+`; the Actor does not present a rounded lower bound as an exact count. Missing facts remain unknown rather than being inferred. Profile details can add run time.

Example dataset item:

```json
{
  "placeId": "ChIJ_example_place_id",
  "name": "Example Cafe",
  "primaryCategory": "Coffee shop",
  "address": "123 Example Street, Seattle, WA, United States",
  "latitude": 47.6,
  "longitude": -122.3,
  "rating": 4.6,
  "reviewCount": 120,
  "canonicalUrl": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/Example+Cafe/"
}
```

The Output tab shows the available result fields. The Actor’s Output tab provides the dataset and run summary.

### Limits and responsible use

Maps may not show every field or a profile for every result. Available information varies by business and location. This Actor does not sign in or bypass access checks. Use public business information responsibly and follow applicable privacy requirements and Google Maps terms. This Actor is not affiliated with Google.
