## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Collect topics from Google Trends’ public Trending Now table for selected countries. Each dataset record represents one topic in one country and includes the search volume, growth, trend status, and related searches shown by Google.

The Actor can also include public news cards and related query details from a topic’s public detail panel. It preserves relative dates as displayed rather than turning them into exact timestamps.

### How to use

1. Choose one or more country codes.
2. Set the table page range and overall topic limit.
3. Choose how many related queries and news items to keep.
4. Run the Actor and view or export the trend records.

Example:

```json
{
  "geos": ["US", "GB"],
  "page": 1,
  "maxPages": 2,
  "maxItems": 20,
  "includeNews": true,
  "maxNewsItems": 5,
  "maxRelatedQueries": 100
}
```

### Input

| Input | Description | Default |
|---|---|---:|
| `geos` | Supported country codes in requested order. Use `ALL` for supported countries. `countries` is an alias. | — |
| `geo` | Single-country selection. `country` is an alias. | `US` |
| `page` / `maxPages` | Starting table page and number of consecutive pages per country. | 1 / 1 |
| `maxItems` | Maximum unique topic-and-country records across the run. `maxTrends` is an alias. | 20 |
| `includeNews` | Include public news cards shown in each topic’s detail panel. `includeNewsItems` is an alias. | `true` |
| `maxNewsItems` | Maximum news cards retained per topic. Set to `0` to omit news items. | 5 |
| `maxRelatedQueries` | Maximum related search phrases retained per topic. Set to `0` to omit them. | 100 |
| `includeExplore` | Add public Google Trends interest-over-time, regional, rising-topic, and rising-query details when available. | `false` |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Optional Apify Proxy configuration. | — |

### Output

Each record includes the trend phrase and country, Google’s displayed search-volume label, growth, the relative “Started” wording, and activity status. It can also include related searches, update time, and Google’s visible interest-graph time labels.

When `includeNews` is enabled, `relatedNews` can contain public headlines, article links, publishers, image links, and relative publication labels. When `includeExplore` is enabled, `exploreDetails` may add interest over time, interest by region, rising topics, and rising queries. Interest values are normalized Google Trends scores from 0 to 100, not raw search counts.

Open-ended search-volume labels such as `200K+` are represented as a lower bound with no upper bound. Relative start times remain in the source wording and are not converted to estimated timestamps.

Example dataset item:

```json
{
  "topic": "sample championship final",
  "geo": "US",
  "geoName": "United States",
  "searchVolumeText": "200K+",
  "searchVolumeLowerBound": 200000,
  "searchVolumeUpperBound": null,
  "trendGrowthText": "900%",
  "trendGrowthPercent": 900,
  "trendStartedText": "8 hours ago",
  "trendStartedPrecision": "hour",
  "trendStatus": "Active",
  "relatedQueries": ["sample final score", "sample team lineup"],
  "relatedNews": [
    {
      "headline": "Example publisher reports a schedule update",
      "articleUrl": "https://news.example.com/sports/schedule",
      "publisher": "Example Sports Publisher",
      "publishedText": "2 hours ago"
    }
  ]
}
```

The Output tab shows the available result fields. Run summary information is available with the run output in Apify.

### Limits and responsible use

Trending topics, volume bands, and news change over time and by country. More countries and pages increase run time. The Actor does not sign in or bypass access checks.

Use public trend and news information responsibly and follow applicable privacy requirements and Google terms. This Actor is not affiliated with Google.

# Actor input Schema

## `geos` (type: `array`):

Supported country codes, in request order. ALL expands to all supported public country pages.

## `geo` (type: `string`):

Single-country option used when geos and countries are omitted. Defaults to the United States.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Compatibility alias for geos.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Compatibility alias for geo.

## `page` (type: `integer`):

One-based starting page in the live Trending Now results table for each geography. The Actor reaches it by clicking the visible Next control.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Number of consecutive table pages to inspect for each geography, beginning at page. For example, page 3 and maxPages 2 inspect pages 3 and 4.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Global maximum number of unique topic-and-country records across all requested geographies.

## `maxTrends` (type: `integer`):

Compatibility alias for maxItems.

## `includeNews` (type: `boolean`):

Collect complete public news-card headlines, source images, publisher names, raw relative publication age and article links in each trend detail panel. Publisher/image pages are not fetched.

## `includeNewsItems` (type: `boolean`):

Compatibility alias for includeNews.

## `maxNewsItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of news cards to retain for each topic. Set to 0 to omit articles while keeping trend metrics and related queries.

## `maxRelatedQueries` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of related query terms to retain from the topic detail panel. Set to 0 to omit related terms.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Maximum navigation and UI wait for each country page and detail panel.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Compatibility alias for timeoutSecs.

## `timeoutMs` (type: `integer`):
