## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper: Apple Ratings & Reviews by Country

**Get Apple App Store reviews for any iPhone or iPad app, in any country, as clean data.** Paste an App Store link, an app ID or just an app name, pick your countries, and get every review's star rating, title, full text, author, app version, helpful votes and date. Optionally add app details per country: average rating, total rating count, price, current version, release notes and more.

It reads Apple's own public review feed and the iTunes Search & Lookup API. No browser, no proxies, no login, so runs are **fast (seconds, not minutes), cheap and reliable**.

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `app_id` | `324684580` |
| `app_name` | `Spotify: Music and Podcasts` |
| `country` | `gb` |
| `review_id` | `14692660229` |
| `rating` | `5` (1-5 stars) |
| `title` | `A home for every sound.` |
| `text` | Full review text |
| `author` | Reviewer nickname |
| `author_url` | Reviewer's App Store profile link |
| `version` | App version the review was written for, e.g. `9.1.92` |
| `vote_count` / `vote_sum` | How many people voted on the review / how many found it helpful |
| `date` | `2026-10-21T10:19:23.000Z` |
| `url` | Link to the app's reviews page in that country |

### Use cases

- **App Store Optimization (ASO):** find the words real users use, track your rating after each release, and see which version caused a wave of 1-star reviews.
- **Competitor research:** pull your competitors' complaints (1-2 stars) and feature requests in every market they're in. Their unhappy users are your roadmap.
- **Sentiment and AI analysis:** feed thousands of reviews into ChatGPT, Claude or your own model for topic clustering, bug detection and sentiment scores. One clean row per review, ready for CSV, Excel, JSON or an API.
- **Product and support teams:** a scheduled daily run with *Reviews since* gives you only the new reviews, so you can pipe them into Slack, a spreadsheet or your helpdesk.
- **Localization checks:** compare what users in Germany, Japan and Brazil say about the same app.
- **Market research and investors:** gauge user satisfaction and momentum across a category of apps.

### How to use it

1. Add apps: App Store URLs, numeric IDs (`324684580` or `id324684580`) or app names (`duolingo`; we take the top App Store search match).
2. Add countries (two-letter codes like `us`, `gb`, `ca`, `de`, `jp`). Use `all` for every App Store storefront.
3. Optional: star filter, *Reviews since* date, max reviews per app, and *Include app details*.
4. Run, then download as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or call it from the Apify API, Make, Zapier or n8n.

### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580",
    "570060128",
    "notion"
  ],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "ca", "au", "de"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 2500,
  "minRating": 1,
  "maxRating": 5,
  "sinceDate": "2026-09-01",
  "includeAppDetails": true
}
```

### Output example

One dataset row per review:

```json
{
  "app_id": "1232780281",
  "app_name": "Notion: Notes, Tasks, AI",
  "country": "gb",
  "review_id": "14658254256",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": "Impossible to use on iPad",
  "text": "I use notion daily, It's a great platform... but the experience on iPad is... it just scrolls itself when I try and update notes...",
  "author": "RWPXT",
  "author_url": "https://itunes.apple.com/gb/reviews/id1389367727",
  "version": "1.7.345",
  "vote_count": 0,
  "vote_sum": 0,
  "date": "2026-10-12T15:39:39.000Z",
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/id1232780281?see-all=reviews"
}
```

#### App details (optional)

With **Include app details** on, the run also saves one record per app per country to the key-value store record **`APP_DETAILS`** (a JSON array), so your review dataset stays one clean row per review. Each record has: `app_id`, `country`, `app_name`, `bundle_id`, `developer`, `developer_id`, `developer_url`, `seller_url`, `primary_genre`, `genres`, `price`, `currency`, `formatted_price`, `average_rating`, `rating_count`, `average_rating_current_version`, `rating_count_current_version`, `version`, `current_version_release_date`, `release_date`, `release_notes`, `description`, `content_rating`, `minimum_os_version`, `file_size_bytes`, `languages`, `icon_url`, `screenshot_urls`, `url`.

Ratings and counts are per country, e.g. Spotify has 42.7M ratings in the US and 7.0M in the UK.

A **`SUMMARY`** record lists each input, the app it resolved to, reviews per country and any error.

### Pricing

Pay only for what you get. No monthly rental.

| Event | Price | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Review delivered | **$0.08 per 1,000 reviews** | 10,000 reviews = $0.80 |
| App details record (optional) | $0.0002 per app per country | 20 apps × 5 countries = $0.02 |

Apps that can't be found and reviews removed by your filters cost nothing. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify and the scraper stops cleanly when it gets there.

### How many reviews can I get? (please read)

Apple's public review feed returns **the 500 most recent reviews per app, per country**. That is Apple's limit, and it applies to every tool that uses this feed. What it means for you:

- For **recent feedback** (the last days or weeks for big apps, the last months or years for smaller ones), 500 per country is usually all you need.
- **Want more? Add countries.** Each App Store country has its own reviews, so `["us","gb","ca","au","in","de","fr"]` gives up to 3,500 reviews per app, and `"all"` covers every storefront. Reviews are de-duplicated by review ID.
- **Want history?** Schedule a daily or weekly run with *Reviews since* set to your last run. You'll build a complete archive of new reviews over time and only pay for new ones.
- Apple's feed includes reviews with written text only; star-only ratings show up as counts in app details.

### FAQ

**Do I need an Apple developer account or API key?** No. This uses Apple's public endpoints. You don't need to own the app.

**Can I scrape my competitors' apps?** Yes, any app on the App Store.

**Which countries are supported?** Every App Store storefront (155), by two-letter code. `uk` is accepted as `gb`.

**How are app names resolved?** We search the App Store in your first country and take the top match. For an exact app, paste its URL or ID.

**Are reviews in English?** Reviews come in whatever language users wrote them. Translate them with any AI tool downstream.

**How fresh is the data?** Live from Apple at run time. The newest reviews usually appear within minutes to hours of being posted.

**Can I get only negative reviews?** Yes: set *Min stars* 1 and *Max stars* 2.

**Is it legal?** It collects publicly available reviews from Apple's public feed. Reviews include public nicknames only. Make sure your use of the data follows your local laws (such as GDPR) and Apple's terms.

**Does it scrape Google Play too?** No, this one is Apple App Store only.

### Integrations

Use it from the Apify API, Python/JS clients, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Slack and webhooks. Works as a tool for AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store URLs (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580), numeric app IDs (324684580 or id324684580), or app names to search (we take the top App Store match, e.g. "duolingo").

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store country codes (us, gb, ca, au, de, fr, in, jp ...). Apple's feed gives the 500 most recent reviews per country, so add more countries to get more reviews. Use "all" for every App Store storefront (155). Reviews are de-duplicated by review ID.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of reviews returned per app, summed over all countries (after filters). Apple's feed caps at 500 per country.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep reviews with at least this many stars (1-5). Set min 1 / max 2 to get only complaints.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep reviews with at most this many stars (1-5).

## `sinceDate` (type: `string`):

Only reviews posted on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). Great for scheduled daily or weekly runs: you pay only for new reviews. Leave empty for all available reviews.

## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Also save app details per country (rating average and count, price, version, release notes, developer, genres, size, icon) to the key-value store record APP_DETAILS. Charged per app per country.
