## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Scraper: Apps & Reviews

Turn the Shopify App Store into a clean dataset. Get **merchant reviews** (star rating, full text, store name, country, how long they've used the app, developer reply) and **app details** (rating, review count, developer, pricing plans, launch date, languages, Built for Shopify badge) for single apps or entire categories.

Fast and cheap: plain HTTP, no headless browser, no proxy needed.

### Who uses it

- **App developers:** track competitors' reviews, mine complaints for feature ideas, and watch your own rating daily.
- **Agencies and SaaS sales teams:** build lead lists of Shopify stores (by name and country) that use a given app.
- **Investors and analysts:** size app categories by review volume, ratings and pricing.
- **AI/LLM pipelines:** feed real merchant feedback into sentiment analysis or summaries.

### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| App URLs or handles | `https://apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing`, `omnisend` |
| Category URLs | `https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-conversion-marketing-email-marketing` |
| Max apps per category | `20` |
| Max reviews per app | `100` (0 = app details only) |
| Only reviews since | `2026-10-01` |
| Only these star ratings | `1`, `2` (find unhappy customers of a competitor) |

### Output

Each dataset item has `type: "app"` or `type: "review"`.

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appName": "Klaviyo: Email Marketing & SMS",
  "rating": 5,
  "date": "October 20, 2026",
  "text": "Super intuitivo, muy fácil de usar...",
  "storeName": "Iguana Sell ES",
  "storeCountry": "Spain",
  "usageDuration": "Almost 7 years using the app",
  "developerReply": null,
  "url": "https://apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing/reviews/2401893"
}
```

```json
{
  "type": "app",
  "name": "Klaviyo: Email Marketing & SMS",
  "rating": 4.7,
  "reviewCount": 3399,
  "developer": "Klaviyo",
  "pricing": "Free to install",
  "launched": "September 20, 2012",
  "builtForShopify": false
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$1 per 1,000 reviews** and **$3 per 1,000 apps**. Monitoring 10 competitors' new reviews every day costs pennies.

### Tips

- **Daily review alerts:** schedule a run with *Only reviews since* set to yesterday and connect it to Slack or Google Sheets through Apify integrations.
- **Competitor complaints:** set *Only these star ratings* to 1 and 2.

### Notes

Collects only publicly visible App Store pages and respects Shopify's robots.txt (no search pages). Reviewer names are store names shown publicly by Shopify. Not affiliated with Shopify.
